A few hours after Trunner's fight.
Irina stood on the outside of a bunker. In the middle of an open grass field. She had her hands held out and was wearing a green zip-up jacket and black sweatpants with a gray vest on the inside. A man in military uniform was checking her pants to see if she had anything when she glanced down at him and said, "General Sparman and I are close friends.
The man rose and looked her in the eye, then started fingering her breasts, saying, "Everyone gets checked like this."
She smirked and held back laughter. "They're G cups."
A faint smile appeared on his face as he stepped aside and said, "You can go in."
So Irina opened the metal door and immediately strolled down some concrete steps, and they shut the door behind her. Small orange ceiling lights guided her way until she reached the first landing. Afterwards, she went down another flight of stairs in the opposite direction until she reached another landing. She did this five more times before she reached the bottom and entered onto a balcony that overlooked a massive open room filled with desks, computers, people wandering about in military uniforms, parked aircrafts, and vehicles.
A man in military uniform stood at the edge of the balcony with his hands behind his back and overlooked the people. Irina appeared next to him, which prompted him to glance at her and say, "I haven't seen you since the incident in Mumbai."
"Me and my sister decided to take a break from all the action, but now's the time to get back to work." Irina replied, focusing on a worker carrying a box of magazines.
The man breathed in, "Mhm. So this is about that criminal Michael Turnner, right? Since I've never crossed paths with him. I'm a bit hesitant to make myself a target."
She looked over at a fighter jet parked in the corner of the room and said, "I figured, but I'm aware you have a great distaste for the woman he's working with."
He glanced at her again. "Hm, woman?"
She took a photo ID out of her back pocket and handed it to him. There was a picture of Noria on it: "The woman's name is Noria Sanchez. She's the department chief for the Cornerstone agency in Florida. Sounds familiar?"
The man frowned and said, "This bitch! I would never pass up a chance to screw her over. She's the main reason I lost my place in the military."
"So you're in?" she asked, looking at the man from the side of her eyes.
He remained silent for a moment, then answered, "I may hate Noria, but that doesn't mean I'll reduce my resources free of charge—what's in it for me?"
A sense of dissatisfaction took over her face as she looked the other way. "My commissioner will pay you nicely once the job is done."
He furrowed his trimmed beard and said, "Fine, I'll intercept the agency vehicles for you. We'll be using fire missiles, by the way."
"That's fine; all I want is an opening for Turnner to come alone."
Cornerstone Agency The next Day
Noria stood at the front of the control room, speaking to a group of contractors consisting of mostly men and a few women. Toktio, Turnner, and Trent were also there.
"The intelligence we managed to gather from the assassin we captured yesterday led us to an old desalination plant on Lake Okeechobee." Noria stated, pointing at the screen, which displayed an overhead view of the plant, "We believe our agent Amelia Sanchez is being held there. In light of this, we will be conducting a coordinated attack on that location. I want as little action as possible. Turnner goes in alone, and we follow."
"I prefer to stay alone." Turnner stated, staring at Noria.
She looked around at him and made a tired expression, asking, "Why?"
"The twins might kill her if you all storm the building."
Noria glanced at everyone else, then back at Turnner. "They won't know we were there, and regardless, I can't let you go alone. If they kidnapped you, we would have an even bigger issue on our hands."
Turnner stood there and checked the time on his watch, then said, "Fine, let's see what the twins have in store for us." Then he turned, pushed through the group of contractors, and strolled straight to the exit.
Seeing this, Noria shouted, "Alright, everyone let go."
Later, about 30 contractors exited the back of the agency. And got inside seven SUVs that lined the sidewalk. Then the vehicles drove off and followed each other down the road. The drive to the plant eventually led them onto a long highway that stretched around the lake.
However, unbeknownst to them, there was a white military drone hovering high in the sky, about 10,000 feet in the air. The sky was clear, so it fed footage back to Sparman's underground facility. From inside the facility, he stood behind two men in military uniforms.
They were sitting at a desk with several computer screens on them displaying an overhead view of the line of SUVs on the highway. Then one of the men looked back at him and said, "We can confirm that Noria and Turnner are in one of these vehicles, but we don't know which one."
Sparman kept his focus on the screen, then squinted, "It doesn't matter; use four fire missiles to disrupt the caravan. Irina said Turnner would know what to do."
So the guy turned around and said into a microphone at his desk, "Missile strike confirmed. Launching in EST ten minutes."
Meanwhile, back inside the SUV with Noria and Turnner, everything was calm. The ride was smooth, and Noria had her eyes glued to the farm fields and plains surrounding Okeechobee until the driver said, "Um, I'm picking up an object approaching our location at incredible speeds."
This alerted Noria and Turnner, who took a look at the GPS monitor inside the car. It showed a red dot approaching their location quickly.
"What the hell is that?" Noria asked, baffled by the dot.
Everyone stared at it a bit more until Turnner said, "Shit, it's a missile."
"BOOM!"
Four missiles struck the bottom of the cars and created a big explosion that sent them flying onto the fields and some into the lake. As Turnner's SUV spun in the air. As it spun, he said, "So I'm going alone then." Then he teleported from inside the car. It crashed and continued to roll on the ground until it turned on its side and stayed there.
Turnner reappeared at the entrance to the plant. The gate was open, and there was no one in sight. It was a big complex enclosed by a wire fence to keep out the forest. Turnner was about to step beyond the gate when he received a call on his phone. So he took it out and answered the call, saying, "Hello?"
"It's Buchae". The voice replied, "We finally got word from the medical center. Amelia Sanchez and Amelia Benson are the same person, so we can go ahead with the plan."
Turnner looked around and said, "Just in time; I'll get to it right after we deal with the Twins. And what about the mole?"
"It's James; he suddenly left the country the other day; apparently he voided our contracts and sold his house yesterday."
Turnner looked down and shook his head. "Poor guy thinks he can run from me."
"The twins must have threatened him with that knife."
Turnner sighed. "Anyway, find out where James is hiding and make sure you keep an eye on that mansion."
"Will do."
"Good" Then Turnner cut off the call and approached a big building to the left of the complex, where a tiny metal door was open.
