Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 5: A DAY WELL SPENT

A day well spent

Young Anne Mccody stood by the corner near a shed watching the strange boy as a woman with a girl walked up to him, the boy was not happy that she ran away from him, the girl looked to be around her age but was bigger than her in size, she talked to him but he walked past the girl without responding to her.

The beautiful woman who Anne assumed was the strange boy's mother gently held the girl's hand and scolded the boy for ignoring his sister.

Anne could only relax when she saw him leaving the place in anger, she stayed for a while, wanting to make sure that the boy was truly gone, she finally left her hiding spot and went back to the juice stand to get fresh juices for her and her sister, this time around, she made sure she walked carefully and avoiding anything that will make her fall, she was cautious and finally came to where Abigail her sister was.

Abigail had just finished her ride and was getting worried, her sister was not yet back, and she was worried and very thirsty, she wanted to go and look for her sister when she saw Anne slowly coming from the opposite direction.

Anne past one of the cups to Abigail and Abigail quickly drank the juice before asking, "What took you so long?" She asked Anne.

"A boy did, I mistakenly poured juice on him and he held my hands and refused to let me go, he was so strong I couldn't free myself from his hold," Anne said as she showed her sister the wrist that Richard held, it has turned red, the redness should have subsided by now but Anne was so fair that anything can make her skin red.

Abigail reached for her sister's wrist and closely inspected it, she was so angry that someone could do this to her baby sister, "Where is that boy? Show me let me teach him a lesson he will never forget in his life," Abigail threatened fiercely, Anne was her only sister and she didn't wish for Anne to be manhandled.

"He has already left with his family," Anne said gently, although she was happy that her sister was mad at the boy she knew her sister wouldn't be the one teaching the lesson but the boy that would be teaching them both the lesson, she could barely escape, if she and her sister go and meet him, it will be like sacrificing herself to him and she didn't want any trouble, she thought.

"Let him thank his star that he has already left if not, he would have seen what I would have done to him," Abigail bragged, making fists with her two hands and boxing the air, imagining it to be the boy who hurt her sister.

Fredrick was getting tired of riding different rides all day and he wanted to leave to relax on the bed in his aunt's house, he looked for his sister through the crowd of people after all it was a big place and one could get lost easily moreover it was his first time coming to the place.

He searched effortlessly when he saw a pair of blonde hairs, they were standing with their backs turned to him, he couldn't remember the exact color of clothes his sister wore, he went to meet only to see two girls who were not his sisters.

They were total strangers and were looking at him with disdain in their eyes because he abruptly walked up to them, he was disappointed and apologized to them for entering their space suddenly, they accepted the apology and smiled at him, and he went away to continue his search for his siblings.

He walked and searched until he came across two heads full of blond curls, the smaller one was dressed in a red skirt and white top while the bigger one was dressed in a blue handless dress with a white jacket worn over it, and knew they were the girls he was looking for but to be sure, he called their names loudly for them to hear very well.

He was relieved when he saw the girls turn in the direction of the person who called her name, they waved at him and he went to meet them.

They were holding white cups in their hands, "Are you guys ready to leave now?" He asked, he wanted them to say yes because he was already tired.

The girls said yes and they left to meet their parents at the Cafe where they said they would be true to their words, they were there waiting patiently for their children to come back from their adventures.

As they went back to their aunt's place, the children talked about their various adventures and everything that happened, but Anne refrained from bringing up the strange boy incident, maybe because she didn't want her parents to be worried for her or maybe she wanted to forget it ever happened, only she knows the reason.

She was grateful that Abigail did not bring up the incident with her parents, the parents were happy that their children had a great time, and they praised them for being good kids.

They were later called to have dinner with the soon-to-be wedded couple.

The dining room is a work of art in itself, with a long table set for twelve under a magnificent chandelier, they all sat down on the dining seat, the couple sitting together on the left hand, while the children sat on the far end of the dining table.

The chairs in the dining set were meant for as many as twelve people but the people in the room were only seven, the children saw it fit to sit at the end of the table, delicious food was served in front of them, their mouths watered at the scent that came from the food, immediately they took up their eating utensils from the table and started eating, the food was also as good as it looked.

After cutting a piece of meat, Mrs Evans gently chewed on the meat and swallowed it before talking to her sister, "Have you called Aunt Sarah to know if she is going to come for the wedding Felicia? Mrs Evan asked her senior sister.

Felicia dropped her fork and reached for her glass of wine, she held the glass and wanted to drink but she waited, "You know Aunt Sarah is a difficult person and she hates weddings, she didn't even come to yours, why would she come to mine?" She asked rhetorically before sipping her wine.

"You were her favorite niece, you could do nothing wrong in her eyes, the girl that was as stubborn as she was," Mrs. Evans said as she remembered their younger days.

Felicia laughed out loud as they both reminisced on the good old days, she had always been the headstrong one between the two siblings, even in love, she couldn't give her heart to anyone.

She was so focused on her career as a reporter and didn't see any reason to give her heart to anyone until she realized that she was missing something in her life and found out she was missing love the love had always been there but she couldn't see it, it came in the form of Martins, her superior at work, now she was about to settle down with the love of her life at the altar the following week.

She was happy, in love, and also pregnant with her first child, she couldn't ask for anything more.
