SHEILA MY SISTER
She hugged him with all the love in her heart as she gave thanks to the supernatural being for helping her son live.
She disentangled from the embrace, she knew her son would get awkward and she didn't want him to feel awkward around her.
She heard a knock on the brown mahogany door from outside and she said loudly, "Who is there?"
The person said in a small voice, "It is me, Sheila," it was Richmond's sister, a girl of about nine years old, she looked big for her age but she acted like a child.
She wanted to check up on her brother, she wasn't told in detail what happened to her brother but she knew he was sick and she felt he was going to die.
"Come in Sheila!" Her mother called she opened the door and entered the room to see her mother sitting on the bed with her brother.
"Hello, biggy!" Richmond playfully called and the girl became furious, "Mom tell him to stop calling me biggy," Sheila protested, her mother thought Sheila looked cute to her as Sheila kept on protesting.
But Richmond didn't mind her weak protests and kept on teasing her, "You are big Sheila, so I call you big, you should be happy I am not calling you a fatty, I am only calling you biggy and here you are, making a fuss."
Their mother watched on, she was happy to see Richmond regaining his strength and playing with his sister.
"Stop calling me Biggy," Sheila said and jumped on the bed into Richmond's body, their mother became alarmed as Richmond as not fully recovered and Sheila was not a slim girl, she was a bit heavy and stronger than most children her age and more stubborn.
Sheila pressed into Richmond's body and he let out a cry, "Get Biggy off me, Mom, get her off me," he said as he struggled to move her away from him.
Their mother waited for a while before talking to Sheila, "Sheila, Richmond is not strong, come down baby," she tried to reason with her daughter but Sheila refused and stubbornly remained on her brother's body.
The woman held Sheila's leg and pulled it but she refused to budge away the woman kept on pulling on her daughter's leg but the little girl held her brother's neck so if the mother pulled her leg, she would also be pulling on Richmond's neck.
Richmond wasn't strong enough to remove his sister's hand from his neck, as his mother was pulling Sheila from him, she was holding his neck and suffocating his windpipe.
"Ok," the woman dropped the little girl's leg raised her hands in surrender, and said in a gentle voice, "Baby, why are you doing this to mommy? Let's make a deal if you get down from his body, I promise to give you anything you want that is within my power," she knows her daughter won't be able to resist, she loves asking for things.
Sheila's eyes shone in glee and she became interested, "Anything I ask? She said but narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
The woman nodded her head and said, "Anything you want dear if you release him," she said coyly, enticing her daughter.
But Sheila was too smart, she didn't immediately release Richmond, " I want a car like the one daddy is driving," she requested still holding onto her brother's neck.
The woman wanted to facepalm her face, her daughter always asks for ridiculous things, "I can't get you a car, you will be arrested by the police and you will be kept in prison," she wasn't going to buy Sheila a car and risk going to prison.
"Ok!" She said immediately, thinking of something else to request, she bounced in excitement as she finally got what to request, Richmond winced in pain from Sheila bouncing on his lap.
"I want a big bear, like the one in Brave, I don't want the momma bear but I want a bear that looks like one of the baby bears in the cartoon," she said with hope glistening in her eyes.
The woman rolled her eyes as her daughter asked for something ridiculous from her, the action did not go unnoticed by Sheila's eager eyes, "Baby if I buy a bear for you, papa will not be happy with you, you know your papa doesn't like bears."
The hope in Sheila's green eyes diminished, she looked and their mother felt like the bad guy, she decided to give options to Sheila, "Don't you want to have something like dolls, a pony, maybe a pet fish or maybe I can take you to the movies or something?"
Sheila was not happy about the options given to her, "I have enough dolls, ponies are cute but I don't want them, Daddy takes us to the cinema almost every Saturday and I don't like fish," she said feeling sad until she remembered something and she brighten up immediately, "mom I want to go to Disney land, she said, she sees it in videos but she hasn't been there before.
The woman could not refuse, she saw her daughter looking at her eagerly with her clear blue eyes, they had the money and could easily fly her there, she nodded her head and said, "No problem that can be arranged."
But the little chit wasn't satisfied, "I want Richmond to come along with me," she said smiling down at her brother.
"What!" I am not going anywhere with you, I got better things to do than hang out with a biggy like you," Richmond said frowning at his sister.
"I won't leave you until you agree," she said stubbornly, not that she could not go with only mother but she wanted her brother to come with her, even though she doesn't admit it, she loves being in her brother's company, it makes her feel safe and secure even though he says awful things to her.
The woman looked at her children, she smiled knowing that her children loved being in each other's company, "deal, Richmond will go with you and I, as your mother will lead you both," she said as she patted her daughter's head filled with golden curls, leaving no room for Richmond to protest.
The little girl released her brother's neck wrapped her arms around her mother's waist and gave the woman a bear hug, she was happy that her mother had finally agreed to one of her requests leaving Richmond to mumble about the lack of civil rights in his home, the mother and daughter embraced each other.
