THE CRAZIEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER SEEN
When the driver stopped in front of a place covered with plastic, Anne was confused and wondered what was happening.
"Aren't we going to the restaurant, what are we doing here?" she asked.
"This is the restaurant, you should get the food before Mr. Richmond gets angry with you," the driver said.
Anne was surprised at how shabby the place looked, it wasn't necessarily bad looking but the restaurant wasn't as classy as she thought it would be.
Not that it was disgusting or repelling, it looked so ordinary. The restaurant appeared to be a big piece of space that was covered with large sheets of plastic foils, the roof was insulated with metal roofing. When she entered, she was instantly greeted with an amazing aroma of food permeating in the air.
The restaurant was sparse with few people eating, they were eating and talking as a group. A bald man was standing at the counter as Mr. Richmond said he would be, monitoring their activities. Plastic chairs of various colors surrounded a singular plastic table, standing alone amid the chairs. She couldn't believe her eyes, this can't be the place where Mr. Richmond wants to eat from, she thought.
She had to confirm it from the driver, although the food smelled good. It was inducing hunger that she wanted to grab a plastic chair and eat but, "this can't be true, right?"
She came out of the restaurant and walked back to the car. she entered the car and said to the driver, "Are you sure you brought me to the right place, are you sure Mr. Richmond eats from here?" She was looking at the driver, uncertainty evident in her blue eyes.
"Yes I am, I have been bringing other secretaries to this place for more than three years, Ms. Mccody. The driver drawled.
She smiled awkwardly, "You are right, I will go and get his food, right away," she opened the door and
"So this is the place where Mr. Richmond eats from?" She muttered, rhetorically.
She walked to the restaurant, entered the entrance door, walked to the counter, and, then, met the bald man.
His nose was pressed flat against his face, his eyes were dark and looked frightening. His eyes were the true definition of danger lurking around. He wore an indigo-colored polo shirt and faded jeans, he was staring at her with a bored look on his face.
She noticed a corner leading to a white plastic door, adjacent to the counter, that must be the kitchen, she thought.
"What do you want to order?" He asked, nonchalantly. His eyes were bored and unblinking.
Somehow, the tone of his voice annoyed her.
"I work for Mr. Richmond Ashvery," she supplied simply.
He looked as if he wanted to laugh but was restraining himself from doing just that, "The old one leaves and a new one arrives, you are welcome to Cherrom Steaks Restaurant," He said, his demeanor changing as soon as he heard the name of Richmond Ashvery.
Of course, what was she expecting from a greedy bald man? she thought.
He was smiling at her, "Go, grab a seat and sit down, while I get your boss food."
She thought his smile was just too oily. A minute ago, he was treating her like an annoying pest, and the next, he was buttering her with his greasy smiles and toothy remarks.
Ashley! the man called, his face staring at the corner.
The plastic door opened and a girl opened the door and answered, Yes!
The girl with green-tinted hair, her both arms covered with different drawings of tattoos, wore a black sleeveless shirt as if she was daring anybody to challenge her. On the side of her neck, there was a tattoo of a green-colored dragon. She was short, her head barely reaching the bald man's shoulders. Her eyebrows were shaved bare and her lips were covered in black lipstick, she was giving off a strong gothic vibe. The only thing normal about her was the white apron, she tied around her body.
"Ashley, I want you to mount the counter for me, This is Mr. Richmond's new secretary and you know how he loves his food," he said.
The girl turned to her, staring at her with the same bored expression her boss had before, "You are the new secretary, uh?"
She smirked, "You won't last."
She couldn't believe the temerity of these people, They were a strange bunch. They were quite peculiar and extremely annoying, why do people come here anyway? This place should be shut down, she thought.
"Can I just get the food first?" Anne asked, annoyed with the ugly smirk on the girl's face.
"Ashley, be nice now. You don't want to scare the new secretary," The man said, although he was reprimanding the girl, he was silently laughing.
"Is not as if she would last, many as come and more will leave," The girl commented, stepping onto the counter as the man walked towards the plastic door.
Anne shook her head, although the scent of the food was tempting to her nose. Anne wouldn't want to eat there, the people working there were just too annoyed for her liking. There was no way she could comfortably eat without feeling uneasy.
She brought out her phone from her trouser pocket and started watching some TikTok videos as she waited for the bald man to return with her package.
The girl was standing at the counter, her watchful eye moving around like a hungry hawk.
After a while, the man came out from the corner and tapped her on her shoulders, "here you go," he handed her the package, it was a white nylon case, and the name of the restaurant was written on the front of the nylon.
She peered inside the nylon, it was an iron flask, closed and firm.
"If you want to last at least six months as Mr. Richmond's secretary, don't ever open the flask. Don't get curious about its contents," he said, his voice was stern and filled with warning.
