Suave looked at Francis with a delightful smile like he was toying with some child. His smile reached ear to ear as he continued to talk solemnly.
"That's not important right now, what matters is the fact that you have something to protect and I have a goal to achieve"
"Suave…you…What have you done…"
"Also please don't call me that name, it was impressive that you found out that I came from Solstice, however, I would like you to call me by my real name. Morgan Montejo, a name that has yet to be known but soon be engraved in history"
"Who are you?"
"It doesn't matter now, go find your precious moonstone before they cast off the purged spirit from that Moon Eater."
With those words, Francis's face turned stern and was filled with anger and trepidation. The words brought by Morgan have caused him to think of this situation in a much more lethal consideration.
"This is getting out of hand, who are you to know the Moon Eater!?"
"I told you it doesn't matter right now. Find your little princess of the night and protect your little secret. Who knows it might destroy the kingdom. Hehehe"
Before Francis could even say anything, Morgan flicked his head towards the clock that was placed high on the wall.
"It's time for me to go, Captain Francis. I hope you garner more fortunate encounters in the future. There were a lot of inconsistencies and outliers in my plan, next time I won't fail…"
With that a strong gust of wind evoked chaos from within the room, heavy winds stirred up objects and types of furniture and turned into a hurricane of wood and glass. Francis covered his eyes with his hands to protect himself.
It all happened in a short period after the wind died down. He unfold his hands to see where Morgan went, but as he expected he was gone from his position. He disappeared into thin air, literally.
He breathed a deep sigh as he looked around, broken glass and destroyed furniture were in the room. The once beautiful room turned into a horrid scene as everything was in chaos.
'Morgan Montejo, huh'
He thought about the name that the man introduced as his true name. Francis once again thought about the events that led up to this point.
In the morning when the enemies attacked, they went through tunnels that suddenly popped up from places that weren't any record of any secret passages. The streets, houses, and even the Kingdom's office mansion appeared out of nowhere
He quickly gathered everyone and prepared themselves for defense. At first, it was difficult but as time passed, everyone got their composure back and quickly went on the offensive.
To do a counterattack, they made themselves into a squad of at least 4 mages and bodyguards to defend these mages as they set fire inside the tunnels. Burning whatever was still left inside, they knew that there were many more enemies inside as they had a hard time trying to get out of their numbers.
He sent Alicia and Frederick, capable captains to defend from the enemies that were attacking from the outside, laying a siege as some has already infiltrated the city. They gathered at least 5000 men that were either injured, alive, or exhausted to fight to their side.
The current situation called for arms and all those that were resting, healing, and on standby forced themselves to fight. There were at least 10000 present, including Fredericks's men from the reinforcements.
Many would think that they would overwhelm the city but due to their swiftness and their reaction, they quickly attacked the holes and made camps surrounding the holes. So when enemies come out they either be barraged by magic, arrows, or swords to their heads.
In just under an hour. They quickly stabilized the situation on the inside. There were many things wrong from the beginning of the siege, weeks before the battle started. He started to enumerate all the inconsistencies that gave him an itch.
'If they had the proper numbers such as this can't they just lay an all-out siege?
If they could do so, why did they wait for the tunnels?
Were the weeks of fighting just for preparation?
If the tunnel was done earlier would they have attacked?
But let's say if it was done early, what did they wait for? If it wasn't then was it just strategic timing that they executed a believable defeat?
What did they even use to transport thousands of troops?'
Many things were swirling inside his head, many unanswered questions. It was as if he was missing some part of the equation to the math question that he was once asked to solve in his childhood.
He felt something was wrong and quickly made a decision to go to the Main Government office of the city. Francis wasn't scared of Mayward, The Lord of the City of Alcemia, for his safety, as he already knew that at the moment of first contact, he would be the first one to leave the city.
'In other words, he is a coward'
Although he knew about it. He still had the urge to go check inside, like something was pulling him towards that location. Francis trusted his guts and there he saw Suave, or now as he introduced himself as Morgan.
From there, the recap of his eventful day was over, and that brought him back to the present situation.
He started towards the desk where he last Morgan. Francis was thinking about more countermeasures and possibilities but more importantly, Moltar.
'The power of Moltar and his cannot be underestimated at any cost, they could easily take down a horde of monsters on their own, for now, I need to quell their anger.'
Francis thought about how he should help Moltar and the others retrieved their children.
'I should finish everything first before something worse happens—"
As soon as he said the line, he jinxed himself. The whole place began to shake and the floors quaked with intensity and strength. With the walls cracking and the building began to collapse.
His fear exceeded the heights of what he could take, he quickly found his way running through the corridor and out the hall where he got connected to the lobby.
"W—what is this?!"
The moment he went out what he saw terrified him. A long, thick, and scaly vine-like monster was moving across the ceiling that went through high and above.
It was endless, he didn't see the end or the start of the monster, the thickness of the monster was that of the size of the portcullis in the gate. An enormous monster slowly destroyed the structure of the place.
Francis's eyes began to shake and waver from what he saw, he experienced this monster once when he was still in the war of attrition with other nations. Francis knows the monster all too well, that he would recognize it from its appearance from afar.
"Why, why is a Leviathan here in the city?"
A high-pitched sound penetrated the sound of the environment as the roaring hiss of the giant snake's provocation soared through with great animosity.
The kingdom, in all of its history, has a new story to dawn into new generations, as the battle between Enormous Monsters.
The Tale of the Leviathan and The Infernals of the Emissary of Flames.
