Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

As the conversation in the conference room continued, Daniel emphasized the importance of combatting the supernatural threats that plagued society. "You see, Ray, the government recognizes the significance of hunters in maintaining the safety of our citizens. They understand that sometimes unconventional methods are required to safeguard our world from these monsters."

Amanda nodded in agreement. "That's why the Hunter Association was created, to provide a structured framework for hunters to operate within as a regulatory body. It ensures that those who choose to sign up have a clear obligation to protect the well-being of the population."

Ray's eyes widened as he absorbed the weight of the responsibility. "So, the government wants soft control over hunters as it doesn't want to hinder our ability to defend the citizens?"

Daniel nodded solemnly. "Exactly, Ray. The government understands that combatting supernatural threats requires quick thinking, adaptability, and, at times, unconventional strategies. While there are guidelines and regulations in place, the focus is always on protecting innocent lives."

A spark of excitement ignited within Ray as he absorbed the information. "So, I have the freedom to work with different teams and undertake diverse missions?"

Amanda chimed in; her voice filled with enthusiasm. "Absolutely! Collaboration is encouraged among hunters. You can join specialized units, work with experienced teams, or even form your own group if you have a clear vision. It's all about utilizing your strengths and making a positive impact."

Amanda continued; her tone serious. "However, it's important to note that this doesn't mean hunters have free rein."

Daniel added. "Just like starting your own business, setting up your own hunter group is treated as such. There are legal and financial considerations, and adherence to the association's code of conduct is imperative."

Ray's brow furrowed as he considered the implications. "So, if a hunter refuses to protect citizens or causes harm, they will be lawfully dealt with?"

Daniel nodded, his gaze firm. "Precisely. The Hunter Association holds its members accountable for their actions. Any hunter who neglects their duty or causes harm to civilians will face consequences, ranging from fines to suspension or even permanent decommission and prison time."

Ray took a deep breath, the gravity of the decision sinking in. He realized that becoming a hunter was not a choice to be made lightly. The stakes were high, both morally and financially.

Daniel's voice softened as he placed a hand on Ray's shoulder. "Ray, I want you to be sure. Joining the association means embracing a lifelong commitment. The path of a hunter can be dangerous and demanding, but it also holds great rewards and the satisfaction of protecting those who cannot protect themselves."

Ray met Daniel's gaze, determination shining in his eyes. "I understand the risks, and I'm prepared to face the challenges. I've seen first-hand the devastation these monsters can cause, and I feel a deep calling to make a difference."

Amanda smiled, admiration evident in her eyes. "That's the spirit, Ray. Your determination is commendable. Just remember, there's also a financial aspect to consider. Sudden Hunter decommission, should you choose to leave the association, carries a cost of $100,000, this is only if you don't have a valid reason which hinders you from doing your duty, health reasons do not require a financial commitment for decommission."

Ray's eyes widened at the mention of the substantial sum. He knew that the financial burden was meant to discourage casual commitment and ensure that only those truly dedicated to the cause remained.

Taking a moment to absorb the information, Ray nodded resolutely. "I'm aware of the cost, and I'm willing to invest not only my skills but also my resources into this journey. I believe it's the right path for me."

"Great!" Amanda smiled and handed Ray a clipboard and pen. "this is a form to join the hunter's association, you can read it and sign it now or take it home, read it over, and come back whenever you want with it signed"

Ray grabbed the pen and read it over whilst Daniel and Amanda waited. After reading it, he signed it and handed it back over to Amanda. He was willing to fully commit.

"Excellent, it's wonderful to have you joining us!" Amanda said smiled.

"Thank you, where do I go from here?" Ray asks.

"We need to create an identity card for you, but we need to know you hunter rank so we will conduct a rank analysis. The first one is on us but any other exams for if you believe you rank has increased will cost $5000." Daniel explained "We'll take you to a top-tier scientific facility where your abilities will be thoroughly tested by our experts to determine your rank."

Amanda went to finalise his hunter credentials whilst Ray and Daniel headed over to the science facility for his hunter exam.

Soon they arrived outside of the science facility.
