Klaus was surprised as anyone was. He got a weird feeling before but he couldn't put a finger on it, so he disregarded it for time. Now he understood why he got that feeling.
The scene that appeared in front of him can be said as the start of the hero's journey.
Theon, the boy with whom Klaus got acquainted is the one who is causing the tremors in the academy.
His power rank had already reached low-level Tier-2.
One may think there is only a tier above tier-1 but the required resources and time are tremendous. One can't just leap from peak-level tier-1 to low-level tier-2 with the snap of fingers.
This difficulty would only increase as the tier ranks increase.
To humankind, there are only Tier-0 to Tier-6 but many speculate that there are tiers above tier-6.
The reason why no one reached such a tier is that the boundary to cross is difficult. It can be seen when a peak-level Tier-3 tries to enter Tier-4.
Unlike the boundary between the previous tiers, the boundary between tier-3 and tier-4 is different. Supposedly it is speculated that this holds the same at Tier-6.
A newly awakened reaching Tier-2 in less than a year is not a common thing. If the growth continues in the same fashion, reaching Tier-6 or even crossing it wouldn't be a problem for him.
This is what many elders present felt.
This is not what Klaus felt. He felt that this is a protagonist script.
When Theon introduce himself, he never mentioned his family name. In this world family names are available for nobles, merchants, and heroes.
To Klaus, Theon didn't feel that he belonged to any of those three categories. Even his attire says that he is essentially poor.
Klaus who loved to read light novels, remembers well about the protagonists with such a background. He could have gained such power only with the help of a system or extreme luck or some hidden master.
If the reason for his growth is because he is the protagonist, Klaus felt fear.
Klaus only went after power and wealth so that no one would bother him, fearing his wrath but now the story seemed to change.
There is a chance that whatever is helping Theon could identify Klaus's source of power too. If that happens there is a high chance that Theon would come after him. With Theon being the protagonist, there is no chance that Klaus could come out of the clash alive or without paying a huge price.
Even if Theon wouldn't come after him, associating himself with the protagonist is essentially calling for trouble.
In every story, the guys would always find themselves in trouble whether they want or not. They would come unscathed and also make profits but the one around them would lose.
This is the principle of the universe, Balance.
The gains obtained by the protagonist are the losses of others.
As much luck as he has, that much bad luck the people around him would experience.
So Klaus decided to maintain minimum association with Theon. He wouldn't actively stand in his path and would take a neutral stand unless Theon provokes him.
Klaus felt a sense of loss. The problems seemed to be accumulating. This would only rise in the future.
With the arrival of the main hero, the main villain would also appear but not before side villains appear. The academy life which Klaus thought would be a breeze is going to be a storm.
Who will survive this storm is unknown.
The only thing he can do is rise his power as soon as possible.
After a few minutes, Klaus was called. He already knows his power rank so there is nothing to surprise for him. Even for others it isn't much after they saw a Tier-2 participant.
In a few minutes, the first part was completed.
The voice they heard before spoke again, "Now that you completed the first part, you can move towards the next part. I'm happy that the power ranks are better than they were in any previous year but I hope that it didn't come at the loss of combat effectiveness."
"Even if you had high power, without a proper combat path you would lose easily. Anyway, good luck with the next part."
After the voice ended, the proctors who conducted part one, lead them to the next part.
They stopped before a white portal. This is what people call 'Test Dungeon'.
