Klaus kept touring the academy till nightfall.
Since only the first years and the staff are the only ones that are present in the academy for now, he not needed to be afraid of meeting some shitty-headed senior with a superiority complex.
Ever since he met the supposed protagonist character, Theon, he had a nagging feeling that something massive that could change the world would happen.
This massive event would have prelude in the form of some small-scale internal conflicts which would escalate as time goes by.
His subconscious is warning him of something dangerous is going to happen but he couldn't concentrate on that feeling.
He already has a shit storm to take care of.
During the last months of the first year, there would be a competition. This competition happens once every ten years
Usually at the end of a year, a test would be conducted but the competition includes it as a part of its elimination rounds.
The first elimination round is where one would compete only with their year cadets. All the top ten were selected and others are eliminated. The yearly ranks of a certain year cadet would depend on this round as this acts as a yearly test too.
The next rounds won't work in this manner. They have to fight with other year students too. This may look like a massive disadvantage to the first years but these rounds would be watched by the royal family and many noble families.
If they were impressed, there is a chance that they would take the commoner-born cadets under their house. There would also be individual powerhouses who would take their disciples through such an event.
This would make it one of the most magnanimous shows in the empire.
There is a particular reason for this competition that the academy holds.
Every decade there would be a grand event that showcases the power of the nation of the central continent. Young awakeners from all nations of the central continent participate in this grand event.
This event can be considered to be an unofficial war between nations of the continent. After all, the future depends on the young of a nation. The more talented they are, the more powerful their nation grows.
It is not just about pride but also resources they can get their hands on.
In order to not waste resources for war, the three powers of the continent came up with the event.
The participant nations would donate some resources for making the competition work and the remaining goes to the reward pool. There would be a minimum one has to contribute to the competition for them to participate or else they can't.
Of course, they can also take loans from others but many don't unless they have some worthy seeds that are worth the gamble to send for the competition. Nonetheless, it is the top event of the continent.
This reward pool is entirely for the competitors but the nations also have a chance to gain something when their participants win.
The central continent is very vast, which made it possible to be the land of many nations in spite of three powerful nations. Even then there are many lands that are still unoccupied.
This grand event also determines who could occupy these lands and use the land resources. The validity stands for only a decade. This exists so that the other two wouldn't band together and attack the one owning the lands.
In time, many patches of land were added to the competition. In the last event, even some areas of the sea around the continent were added, as these would provide good fishing locations for abundance or rare species.
Most of the time, these were enjoyed by the top three powers but a few times other nations got hold of the regions. When the event was opened for others, they added a clause that the winning nation could sell their rights to others for a decent amount.
Though the three wanted to control, they didn't skimp as it would hurt their pride, leaving the smaller nations in satisfaction. As most of the time, they wouldn't have the capability to maintain these regions, they sell to the three for resources.
The academy's competition is a precursor event to the grand event. This event was also given a name, "The Royal Clash". Though it looks like youngsters are fighting on the surface, it is the rulers of the nations who fight in the background.
As such the competition in the academy is a very important event, and many eyes would be on him. He had to duel the third prince who would be already at the end of the third year. There could be advantages and disadvantages whatever the result of the duel might be.
He didn't want to back down as he was the one who proposed the duel to be held in the competition, he had to win. If the royals feel sour about losing face, they shouldn't have let that idiot run amock. That is their stupidity, so he decided to go all out.
He decided to crush the prince brutally.
