Chapter 36 - Markus Von Amberson

Markus entered the class of the first year. This year is his turn to babysit the newbies.

When a class was assigned a lecturer for a subject, they would follow the class until they graduate if that class has any advanced classes in later years and most classes do.

His last class was already graduated officially, though there are a few students who didn't as they did have not the qualifications to earn a graduation certificate from the academy. They would return with their juniors to take part in combat lessons or theoretical ones which they failed.

If all they lack is the required level of Peak-level 3-Star rank, they might choose not to return until they gained the rank or come to the academy to take on the missions. This part is left to them and the only way for them to graduate is to attend the exams at the end and qualify.

Today he would begin teaching the new brats about Magic Theory.

When the Headmaster assigned him the class, he was forewarned that this class might be trickier. The class he was assigned is Class-1A, which constitutes the top thirty.

The new students did dazzle in their entrance test. A commoner born ranked first with not only the highest kills but also reached 2-Star. He may not be of noble background but he could be backed by a powerful individual.

There are also children of Archdukes and Dukes in the class along with some commoners. There is a high chance that conflicts could easily arise as noble-born children would usually look down on commoner born.

The noble-born always ranked top in every entrance test. There are times that children of Knights gained such ranks but never have been in the history of the academy, there was a topper who didn't have any awakeners before in their family line.

The ones who came behind the commoner Theon, would certainly poke him. Even if they didn't, when the seniors arrive, the noble borns of the previous years would certainly ridicule the freshers. There is a high chance of conflicts brewing among the freshers.

As the lecturer of Class-1A, he along with a combat lecturer has to take care of the class. The headmaster doesn't want to lose a good seed because of petty reasons. They were given the power to restrain students in any way to protect them.

When he entered the class, it seemed no different from others. Everyone was immersed in chit-chat until he entered the classroom and let out the pressure of a 5-Star ranker. This immediately calmed everybody down and grabbed their attention.

He then introduced himself, "My name is Markus Von Amberson, a 5-Star Ranker. I'll be your professor for Magic Theory until you graduate. You can call me Professor Markus or Mr. Amberson".

Everyone just nodded.

Markus continued, "Now, you are considered top of the cream or the geniuses, but threw such titles away. They won't help you in any way if you face an enemy stronger than you. You may think that having strong family background would protect you but you are wrong.

The only protection you have is your strength. Your family may guard you from direct and open attacks but they can't do anything against a sneaky or underhanded attack.

Yes, if anything happens to you, your family would try to avenge you but think about it. If it was some small wounds or even heavy wounds, you could find some healer or potions to get better.

If you die, avenging means nothing to you as you were already dead and would never know if it happened. The avenging also won't change the fact that you were dead and there is no bringing you back. So throw away such things from your mind and act according to what you can and can't do.

Don't start a flame, if you don't have the power to put it out. This is not only for when you are in the academy but especially when you are outside".

Many understood what the professor was trying to say. Don't stir troubles unless you are confident enough to face them. They understood that this is not mere teaching but an informal warning to the troublemakers.

After giving a good pre-warning, Markus started to do what he was really here for, to teach Magic Theory.

The class continued as Professor Markus explained the basic foundations of Mana. These topics are pretty known but he revisited them to make sure that the information is ingrained in the brains of all freshers.

One can't move forward successfully if one fails to master the basics.

So this is the first-day topic for all first-year classes.
