"Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the twenty fifth marriage anniversary of Mr and Mrs banks, our nations god and goddess of the wall street" the MC announced earning him a loud cheers and applause from the guest present..
"Without further ado, the banks will be cutting their anniversary cake and afterwards will open dance floor for us" he said cheerfully.
Just then a huge cake was wheeled in by the waiters and stopped in the middle of the ballroom..
The banks together with their children, Davin, Kimberley and Kelvin held hands and cut the cake in front of everyone..
Alexander banks always known to not shy away from showing his wife love in public took the opportunity to spoon feed his wife the cake and subsequently kissed her passionately in front of the everyone while the guest cheered...
"Oh my God,not here dad" kim whispered looking all embarrassed..
"How embarrassing" kelvin murmured scratching his brows,looking everywhere but at his parents..
Davin looked indifferent as usual while Williams snapped away with his phone whilst smiling broadly...
After what looked like forever the couple disentangled whilst the cheers from the guest subsided..
"Now moving on to the next event on our list, Mr and Mrs banks will open the dance floor for us" the MC said signaling to the performing crew invited as they started playing the classical Mozart..
The guest made enough space in the center of the ballroom for the couple, who graciously held each other in the arm and waltzed gracefully...
Few minutes into the dance, some guest couple started making their way into the dance floor and before you know it the ballroom was filled with more than a dozen couples dancing and celebrating with the banks.
William made his way towards kathryn, while the ladies standing beside her held their breath and wondered who he would pick to dance with...
"Can I have this dance your Majesty" he said gently extending his hands in front of kathryn, she chuckled at the way and manner he bowed dramatically..
The heiress behind her turned green with envy as soon as William took kathryn away..
Just then kelvin walked up to rebecca and took her with him towards the dance floor...
"Why do your face look so gloomy" kim asked from behind..
"It doesn't , and this is how I look everyday " Davin flatly denied...
Looking at her grumpy brother for awhile, she followed his line of sight and toher surprise it landed on Kathryn and William who were dancing gracefully together..understanding where his bad mood was coming from she sighed..
" 'If you want something, you go for it' isn't that what you always tell me, well about time you take your own advice " she said after observing her brother for a while...
He downed the wine he was holding immediately he heard what she said...he knew she was right....
No matter how much he wanted to deny it, he knew he was attracted to kathryn and he wanted to be with her more than anything, but then their is Williams his beloved cousin who is equally pinning for her...
He had never been in this type of situation in his life, a situation where he doesn't know what to do..
Just then Arthur and Carter walked up to them...
"Dance with me" Arthur asserted extending his hand to his suprise she took his hand but not before looking back at her brother who gulped down another glass...'good thing he doesn't ever get drunk' she thought.
Back at the dance floor.....
"You look gorgeous, has anyone told you that?" Williams asked as he twirled her around before bringing her close to him..
"A few" she said smiling...
She wasn't exactly a fan of men touching her but she wasn't repulsed by him, maybe because he had been a gentleman all through the night and never looked at her like he wanted to devour her, something other men she met were guilty of...
Observing him closely he looked a bit more like davin on the cheek side..he was truly handsome, something that seemed to run in the genes of the banks..
Speaking of Davin, he was dragged off to the dancefloor by Beverley...
"Why do you look so grumpy" Beverley said while circling her hand around his neck as they danced to the music...
"How's uncle I haven't seen him for a while" he said deliberately changed the topic...
Sensing that he didn't want to talk about it,she let it go..
"He couldn't make it, he had an important surgery he was handling" she replied..
"Hmm"
"Aunty complained that you have rejected all the suitors she had recommended for you....do you want to remain single for life" Davin asked curtly..
She looked at him closely, taking in all his brilliant features...her heart skipped a beat when she stared right into his beautiful forest green eyes...
'Because my heart belongs to you, can't you see' she wanted to say out loud but couldn't...she knew he had always seen her as a sister ever since they were growing up but she couldn't help how her heart keeps yearning for him...
The change in the music brought her back from her reverie...clearing her voice to clear the awkward silence she looked up at him and said....
"No of cause I don't want to remain single for life but I am waiting for the right one" she said looking everywhere but his face...
Her eyes caught kathryn who was dancing with Williams...she looked angry and envious, even though her heart beats for Davin, she couldn't deny that Williams was a wonderful catch..
Immediately kathryn caught her staring at them, she came closer to davin and whispered something into his ears which made him give a beautiful smile...
The scene looked very intimate from every angle..kathryn looked away instantly, pretending not to see, for a minute her heart felt like it was being clutched that she had a difficulty in breathing....
"are you ok" the worried william asked.
"I'm fine, thank you" she replied after taking few deep breaths...
the music changed to the part where partners would be swapped with other dancers, so Beverly got together with another male guest at the dance floor while kathryn got together with Kelvin and it went on...
Davin got to dance with his mum in the process....
"Why do you look sad dav" Madame Genevieve asked upon taking a closer look at her son..
"Is anything the matter"...
"Am fine mum" he replied..
"I carried you for nine months, do you think I wouldn't know when any of my child is having a difficult time" she said with conviction..
"Am fine mum, really...its nothing to worry about" he said twirling his mum around..
Just as the time with his mum elapsed, she moved to another guest at the dance floor while another woman came into his arms...
He was so distracted with his thought that he didn't know the person in his arms was who had wanted the whole night...
Perceiving the natural scent that had kept him up most nights, he looked down almost immediately...
He couldn't believe she was there in his arms,and couldnt hide how excited he was to have her all to him even if it was just for a few minutes...
She wanted to ask him why he was smiling but decided against it, 'we weren't close anyway' she thought and kept it moving.
Instinctively he wrapped one arm around her lower back and the other around her bare back bringing her closer to him whilst they danced..
Non said anything for a while as they both basked in the euphoria of the silence that enveloped them..
Twirling her around he brought her back to him, while he looked deep into her eyes...
"You look exquisite" he said whilst staring down at her...
It was a cliché thing to say but coming from him and his voice,it felt different in her ears making her heart skip a beat, while her face turned bright pink...
He smiled when he saw her beet red face...
