Chapter 13 - The Lady’s Babies

Three long weeks have passed since Gami left with his knights across the sea. During this time, Lily has been busy raising her two beautiful baby daughters with the tireless help of her devoted maids. As she learned about aristocracy, she discovered that her peerage is the lowest, which is baron and baroness. Despite the challenges that come with it, Lily is determined to help her and her husband climb the ladder of aristocracy to benefit their daughters.

She knows that being part of the aristocracy comes with many benefits, such as access to the finest education, exclusive job opportunities, and the most enviable social connections. But she is also aware of the daunting challenges, such as the relentless pressure to maintain a certain image and the weighty responsibility to use one's wealth and influence for the greater good.

'I should try to become good friends with the Duchess,' Lily thinks to herself, her mind racing with excitement. Lily is smart and wise, always thinking of ways to improve her family's standing in society. With a graceful wave of her hand, she calls for one of her maids to send a message to the Duchess, inviting her over for tea this afternoon.

Lily spends the next hour getting ready, carefully selecting her outfit and accessories to ensure she looks her best. She wants to make a good impression on the duchess and show her that she is a woman of taste and refinement. Her long, flowing gown is a deep, rich shade of purple that complements her dark hair and fair skin.

The intricate beading and embroidery on the bodice catch the light and sparkle like diamonds. Meanwhile, her maids work tirelessly to ensure that the mansion is immaculate, with every surface polished to a shine.

Workers come in to set up new decorations, including expensive sculptures and paintings, to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the already beautiful home. The air is filled with the sweet scent of fresh flowers, arranged in ornate vases throughout the room.

Lily, who has studied the ways of aristocracies and the art of acting like a lady, is determined to impress the duchess and show her that she is a woman of means and good taste. She knows the importance of every detail, from the way she greets the duchess to the way she sits and speaks. She has chefs preparing gourmet meals in the kitchen, and herbal tea brewing for when the duchess arrives.

The aroma of the food fills the air, making Lily's mouth water in anticipation. Lily wants to make sure that every detail is perfect, so that the duchess will see her as a worthy friend and ally. She can't wait to see the look on the duchess's face when she takes in the beauty of the mansion and the delicious smells coming from the kitchen.

Lily's maids open the door for the duchess, who enters the mansion escorted by her private guard Simon. "Welcome, Your Grace. I hope all has been well. Thank you ever so much for accepting my invitation," Lily says gracefully. The duchess, with her nose held high, looks at Lily and replies, "Why, of course, my dear. We do have to talk, but of course." Lily's maids serve them tea and pastries as they continue their conversation. "I've been pondering, dear. With your considerable fortune, how about you donate to the orphanage or to the arts?" the duchess suggests. "Well, actually, that is one of the reasons why I wished to speak with you, Your Grace," Lily replies. She calls over one of her maids to bring an envelope full of filled and signed checks.

"Here you are, Your Grace. I would like to donate two million safis to each of these organizations, which will total twenty million safis," Lily says humbly. The duchess's eyes grow wide as a big smile takes hold of her face. "My, my child, aren't you magnanimous. This will certainly benefit those who need it the most."

The duchess takes a sip of tea and sets her cup down. "Lady Lily, I must say, you have a heart of gold. Your charitable donations will not go unnoticed," the duchess says with admiration. "Thank you, Your Grace. I believe it is our duty to give back to the community," Lady Lily replies. The duchess nods, "Indeed. It is our responsibility as nobles to use our wealth and influence to benefit the less fortunate." She pauses for a moment before continuing, "In light of your contributions, I have decided to bestow upon you and your husband the title of Viscount. I trust you will continue to use your influence for the good of society." Lady Lily is taken aback, "Your Grace, I am honored. I don't know what to say." "Say nothing, Lady Lily. It is well-deserved," the duchess replies with a smile.

They continue their conversation for another hour, discussing their plans for the future and their hopes for the kingdom. Lady Lily is grateful for the duchess's generosity and for the opportunity to give her daughters the best lives possible.

As the duchess's carriage disappears into the distance, Lady Lily waves goodbye with a smile on her face. She enters her home, closing the door behind her, and lets out a joyous squeal as she jumps in place, her heart filled with excitement. "My lady, are you alright?" one of her maids asks, concerned. "I couldn't be better right now! Thank you for asking," Lady Lily replies, beaming with happiness.

She calls over one of her maids and asks her to send a magic message to her husband, informing him of their new title as viscounts. "Also, ask him to write me back. I miss him terribly, and tell him I love him!" Lady Lily says, still elated. Her maid nods and assures her that she will contact him right away. Lady Lily runs around the living room with glee until she gets tired.

The room is decorated with beautiful paintings, and the sunlight streams in through the windows, casting a warm glow on everything. "Sure, my lady. I will contact him right now," her maid says. Lady Lily heads upstairs to the nursery to check on her babies.

The nursery is filled with soft pastel colors, and the air is sweet with the scent of flowers. She takes turns holding them both in her arms, rocking them back and forth as she sings sweet lullabies and talks about their father. "Your sweet father is a hero, and I know he misses you both very much. We both love you two with all of our hearts," she whispers to her daughters as they coo and smile.
