General pov
We find ourselves in an office room with Joseph and another African man around his late thirties to early forties. The man was tall, muscular, short table cut hair, and a beard, he wore a black suit along with a striped tie.
Both men were facing the screen looking at the news which was an update on the five kids who were basically vigilantes for clout. It turns out that one of the children who was stabbed in the stomach by the buffalo villain as described had died. But it was not the big headline of the news in fact it was treated as a minor story as everyone was gushing and flocking about the Pillars project and the children which were fully brought to light at a major party which was held yesterday.
"So pretty rough story your nephew got involved in." Patrick said to Joseph.
"How's he doing though?" Joseph asked.
"Well." Partrick termed the T.V option to view one of the cameras revealing a bandaged Chimwemwe with additional cables attached to him and a very worried Minerva sitting by close to him. "When you brought him in yesterday, we found a few broken ribs, bruised bones in his hands and his brain was short circuited for a good while." He finished.
"Damn." Patrick cursed. Yesterday he got a phone call from a panicking Minerva asking him if he could show up at the hospital to help calm Chimwemwe down as his quirk was a little out of control. Likely he wasn't that far away from them so he got to the hospital and saw he was releasing excess electricity.
Of course, the doctors tried to stop him with insulating materials but they couldn't really get close and rubber suits were not available. Joseph had taken in all the electricity and he had to admit the kid had more electricity than he thought. After that he suggested they move him to Takhar base close by where they could handle Chimwemwe's quirk.
Of course, Minerva was a little against it but it was a place where he could recover in somewhat peace. He called in Patrick for help and they carefully moved Chimwemwe to their main base in the south.
"There's another matter here." Patrick then brought out a file and it showed the face of the mutant quirk user Chimwemwe fought and he looked younger, a lot healthier and had both eyes. "This is Kelvin Pembe and he was part of a special mercenary-like team called Black horn."
"Mm I think I heard about those guys. Didn't they disband or something?" Joseph thought but then something hit him. "Wait your telling me that my 10-year-old nephew fought and beat a trained professional?" Joseph didn't know whether to be proud or scared.
"There were other things in play like the horrible condition he was likely in before he fought your nephew." Joseph raised an eyebrow at that. "We found that his eyes had basically been torn out, some more life crippling issues, malnutrition and so on."
"Okay I guess that makes sense but who or what clawed out his eyes?"
"From what we know it was one of the five disasters fought between him and his team leading to their disappearance and when we examined his body it was likely the bloody sun." Patrick revealed and Joseph's eyes widened as he was familiar with the five disasters of Nyasaland. "By the way Joseph, how far are you in your investigation of the quirk enhancing drug?"
"Not that far why?"
"Well, we found some of them in the vigilante group."
"Look I have to go check up on him and make sure Minerva doesn't accidentally maul the doctor if he comes up." Joseph then left the room and Patrick switched the T.V to watch a rerun of the full announcement of the pillars.
With the Caçars
Minerva sat beside her nephew's bed as he slept with bangages covering most of his boy and some cables for absorbing his electricty. His been unconscious for almost a whole day now and she prayed that he would wake up soon as it broke her heart seeing him in such a state. She remembered when he called her asking for her help and how distressed he was with the loud booming sounds behind the call. Jemima allowed her to leave the their little model training session to go look for him.
As she searched for him her paranoia skyrocketed thinking she would be too late to save him like how she couldn't with her elder sister.
"ROARR!" She jumped a little hearing an animalistic sound coming from Chimwemwe as he jolted awake but he seemed to be in a panic.
"Chimwemwe it's okay." She said softly as she gently hugged him and began purring to help ease him faster.
"A-Auntie." He mumbled as he settled down and looked around and saw he was in a hospital room.
"Hey Cub, glad that you're awake." She said softly.
"Thanks for helping me." He hugged her back. "What happened to the buffalo guy?" He asked while separating from her.
"I don't know the moment I found you I sped off to get you medical attention."
"Oh okay." Chimwemwe said tiredly and Minerva noticed that he was still a little on edge and so she patted his head.
"You're safe now." She reassured him. Now there were a lot of questions running through her head like why he was out of school and more details on the man who attacked him.
The door opened and Minerva instinctively got defensive and began viciously growling at whoever it was but stopped when she saw it was just Joseph.
"You need to stop doing that Minerva , a lot of medics are scared to come in here because of you." Joseph said while rolling his eyes.
"Sorry." Minerva apologised with slight embarrassment.
"Hey kiddo glad to see you're awake." Joseph turned to Chimwemwe.
"My body still feels like shit." Chimwemwe mumbled.
"My god Chimwemwe." Minerva groaned.
"Come on Mini it's not like none of us were any better." Joseph commented earning an elbow to the stomach.
"So where am I exactly? This place doesn't feel like a regular hospital." Chimwemwe asked, earning raised eyebrows from the two.
"What makes you say that?"
"I feel a lot of electricity going through this place, much more than a regular hospital."When he said that the uncle and aunt pair just looked at each other.
"Well kid cognates kid your right this is actually a Tahkar base." Joseph confirmed.
"Oh, okay then." Chimwemwe said quietly and laid back down on the bed and the adults looked at him in worry. "Why am I here and why are there cords sucking up my electricity?"
"Your quirk was out of control and could have destroyed a normal hospital." Joseph bluntly answered, getting a nod in response.
"Chicky why were you outside of school battling a possible villain and don't try to lie to me. I won't tell the truth and nothing more." She said sternly. Now Minerva was not a strict parental type. A little protective sure but not borderline strict. She had only yelled at Chimwemwe a couple of times and in an instance where used good old African parenting disciplines was when he was experimenting with his quirk and let loss too much electricity and almost burned the house down.
Chimwemwe sighed and saw how serious she was so he decided to come clean.
"I found out that Matthew had joined some kind of clout chasing vigilante group." He revealed much to Minerva's surprise. "So, I decided to confront him about it and tried to convince him to be quiet but he wouldn't budge and said they were great people so I let him. He then had an idea of taking me to meet his vigilante group to see how much good they do so I agreed. After I met them, we went to the market sector as they were looking for their first actual villain to bust leading us to the woods area meeting the buffalo man leading to well this." He finished summarising the story.
"Does Matthew's mom know he is a part of this group?" Minerva asked.
"If she didn't, she's going to know now." Joseph jumped in getting confused looks from the two brunettes. "All the boys were taken into police custody so I have a feeling all their parents know."
"What happened to the kid who got stabbed and the buffalo guy?" Chimwemwe asked.
"Well, Chimzey according to the news the kid is dead." Joseph said bluntly, earning a small elbow. "But for the guy with the mutant buffalo quirk…." Joseph hesitated a bit which Minerva picked up on. "Well, the police managed to find him but was weakened from your fight so when he tried resisting, they shoot him dead." Joseph explained. "Speaking of the man, he seemed fixed on you for some reason."
"He spoke Swahili so I couldn't properly understand him but from what I could get he said something about me being a kid of Nala or something." When Chimwemwe said the name Minerva's eyes widened which the two males noticed.
"Auntie you, okay?" Chimwemwe asked worriedly.
"I-I'm fine." She answered which was an obvious lie as she panted a little.
But the medics entered the room but flinched once they saw Minerva. The woman had scared them off a bunch of times though she didn't mean to and apologised for it as it happened instinctively.
"Come on Minerva, they can't work properly with you here." Joseph remarked while pushing her out the door despite her protesting and hissing. Though she made one last turn to look at her nephew and left the room.
As the two adults were outside, they just leaned by the hallway not very far from Chimwemwe's room.
"So, what happened to the man who attacked my nephew?" Minerva asked Joseph to make him sign.
"Couldn't fool you huh. Even when we dated you could tell."
"Don't bring up the past and start talking."
"Fine Chimwemwe was the one who killed him." He revealed and Minerva gasped in a little.
"I see you just didn't want to put that weight on him."
"Yeah."
"You'll be surprised how us Caçars react to those kinds of situations." She chuckled a little darkly but Joseph just let it go as he had already seen her bloodier side. "By the way."
She turned to him and gave him a hug.
"Thank you for helping." She spoke softly.
"Hey like I said I'm not running away from you two this time." He hugged her back which made her start purring in delight. "Really missed your cute purring sounds." He chuckled. "So why did you seem to have a panic attack when he mentioned the name Nala?" He asked and Minerva separated from him giving him a look of confusion.
"Oh, right guess we only told Simon about it."
"Told him what?"
"Nala is the name of my cousin and she's one the five disasters."
"What?" Joseph was a little flabbergasted by the news.
