Chapter 25 - Payback

A chill ran down Asher's spine as he looked at the red goblin in front of him. Oh gods. Judging from his appearance, it must have killed something. It could be seen from the blood-red liquid on the tip of his axe, dripping onto the ground continuously. Dread quickly crept into Asher's mind, making his body begin to tremble.

"Chro... Chronos..." Asher's lips continued to tremble nonstop, his face deathly pale.

"Hey, Ash calm down. everything will be fine." Chronos patted Asher's shoulder, trying to calm Asher down. "Now, we just need to defeat this fucking creature. But first, I need your help" The look on his face was very reassuring, there was no hesitation on his face.

"Alright, I'll try." Asher nodded his head slowly, his face still tense.

Hearing Chronos' words, it seemed that Asher could feel calmer now. He took a deep breath gently, attempting to regulate the rhythm of his heart which had been racing like a train. Shortly after, Chronos darted quickly, aiming the tip of his sword at the red goblin using his signature dash skill. However, the red goblin managed to parry Asher's attack with his axe.

'Cling! Cling!

"Damn, this goblin is so strong. Damn it! I can't even touch it." Chronos' jaw hardened, his face tightening.

"Wait, I'll try to distract the red goblin, Chronos." Asher pointed his staff forward, preparing to launch his attack.

Chronos wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Alright, I'll kill this asshole." He gripped his sword tightly, his eyes burning.

Asher's laser beam instantly exploded, successfully hitting the goblin. The red goblin was now bent to the ground. Great, looks like this is their chance to attack. Chronos quickly used his dash skill, aiming his sword slash at the goblin's body.

"Die, you damn goblin!" Chronos shouted, his gaze sharp.

"Slash!"

Happiness instantly spread across Asher's face. He was pretty sure Chronos had managed to kill the red goblin. But, wait, something was wrong. Why wasn't Chronos moving at all? Gosh, what on earth was going on?

All of a sudden, Chronos' body collapsed to the ground, relentlessly oozing fresh red liquid. Seeing that, Asher's face instantly stiffened, and his lips were unable to utter a single word. He never realized that what he had in mind was completely different from what he saw.

"But... but how is that possible? I see the goblin is already on the ground, but why is that" Asher shook his head, his face tightening.

Slowly the goblin got up, he seemed to throw away the small shield that had been split in half in his hand. Damn. This goblin must have planned all this, using the shield to deflect Asher's attack, sounds like a cunning strategy.

"Geez Asher, we have to help Chronos. What should we do?" Amertha's face tightened, her red lips trembling relentlessly.

"I, I don't know what to do." Asher furrowed his brows. "This is completely beyond me, Amertha." He said as he shook his head, a frustrated look on his face.

Asher's heart beat faster when he saw the red goblin walking towards him, showing an angry look. That was terrible. He had to rack his brains immediately, trying to figure out how to get out of this mess and save Chronos.

"Wait. I have an idea, Amertha." Chronos snapped his fingers. "But I need your help," he said as he looked at Amertha, his gaze tense.

"Uh, what do you mean?" Amertha raised her eyebrows, a confused look on her face.

Asher gave the potion bottle to Amertha. He said as he fired his laser beam attack at the red goblin, Amertha should fly quickly, giving the potion bottle to the dying Chronos, so that Chronos could be saved.

"Wait, Asher are you sure?" Amertha rounded her eyes. But you weren't able to defeat that red goblin alone?" She gripped the potion bottle tightly, a worried look on her face. "You will die instantly, Asher."

"No, I promise. I will do my best, Amertha." Asher took a deep breath. "'Cause I'm sure Chronos would do the same if he were in my position." Asher's gaze was firm, there was no doubt at all in his mind.

There was obvious fear on Asher's face, but he had to resist, resist that fear to help Chronos. There was no other choice. Asher slowly refocused his mind, until he slowly saw a light, shining like a star at the tip of his staff.

"Take this, damn goblin!" Asher pointed his staff at the red goblin, a stern look on his face. "Laser beam!"

The red goblin's vision instantly became blurry as he saw the light streaking towards him. Good, it seemed that everything was going smoothly. However, not long after, the red goblin appeared with his axe and used it as a shield, blocking Asher's attack.

"Damn it. Why do I have to die here?" Asher grumbled, his face contorted. "Argh, Shit!" he said as he closed his eyes, hoping this would be over soon.

"Ugh, damn, I can't hold it in any longer." Asher rounded his eyes, his face looking pale.

Asher's body and mind froze instantly, as the red goblin ran towards him, deflecting all of Asher's attacks with ease. It was horrible, Asher was now cornered. He had no way to get out of this situation.

"I have to find ...."

Unfortunately, the goblin's movement speed was very fast, and managed to push Asher hard enough that his body hit a nearby tree trunk. His consciousness immediately decreased drastically, leaving him unable to move let alone cast a healing spell.

"Argh, I have to beat this thing." Asher slowly got up, trying to withstand the blow he received.

But unfortunately, his body couldn't withstand the blow that instantly left him lying on the ground. Asher just gave up, seeing the red goblin walking towards him with a big smile on his mouth while swinging his axe, preparing to finish Asher off.

Fortunately, luck was on Asher's side again. Suddenly someone blocked the goblin's attack quickly. Asher slowly raised his head, seeing that the figure was Chronos which was in a much better condition than before.

"Hey, Ash you're okay right?" he said while blocking the red goblin's attack. "Damn it! Amertha please Asher. I'll take care of this damn thing." He kicked the goblin until it was pushed away.

Amertha gave the rest of the potion to Asher until he was able to get back on his feet. Quickly Asher chanted his healing spells, trying to heal his wounds. Then, Asher quickly fired several of his laser beams, causing the goblin's vision to go awry.

"Time to retaliate, damn goblins!" His face looked tense as he fired his laser beams. "Chronos, hurry up, now's your chance!" Asher shouted, glimpsing the vein in his neck

Chronos quickly sprang into action, heading towards the goblin. However, there was something strange about him this time. His gaze was extremely sharp as his sword seemed to emit a fiery blue light, causing him to slash without hesitation.

"Taste this, you fucking goblin! Fatal blow!"
