Chapter 26 - True identity

A streak of blue light sliced clearly through the red goblin's body. Its body instantly froze like a statue and not long after, the body split into two, revealing a portion of its inner organs.

'800 exp earned'

'You've earned 450 gold coins, 2x goblin hats'

"Chronos, that's... That's incredible power!" Asher rounded his eyes, amazement showing on his face.

"I also never thought that this new skill would be this powerful." His hand wiped away the blood splatters on his face, and his face tightened.

"Okay, that's good for both of you." Amertha tugged on Asher and Chronos' sleeves. "Now, come on. We have to help my sister, right now before the other goblins attack us."

The two of them immediately accelerated their footsteps and quickly opened the circle of the net. However, a flash of confusion flashed across both of their faces at the sight of the glowing creature. At first, they thought that the creature must have the same appearance and shape as Amertha, given the title of this quest, but it turned out that it was all out of their minds.

"Wait, Amertha you're not kidding right?" Asher raised his eyebrows, a look of confusion on his face. "But this is ...."

As Asher turned his head, the figure of the fairy suddenly vanished. Strange, where is she? He also asked Chronos, but he didn't seem to notice Amertha's existence either. Wait, what has happened? Where is Amertha?

A few minutes later, a voice suddenly appeared out of nowhere, sounding very similar to Amertha. Asher realizing it immediately looked around him, trying to find the fairy, but all he saw was a bunch of tall trees towering upwards. There was nothing else.

"Asher, Chronos thank you for helping my sister." The voice echoed quite loudly. "As a token of my gratitude, this white bird will take you back to Malana village."

'You have completed quest 10: Finding my twin brother.

'You have earned 100 Gold; 1x Medicine'

'You have obtained 1x sacred bird from the forest of Malana.

"Wait, Amertha, is that you?" Asher shouted quite loudly, his face tightening.

However, the voice immediately vanished along with a strong gust of wind. Strange. He was sure the voice was very similar to Amertha's, but for some reason, he couldn't find the fairy's whereabouts. What was going on? These questions kept ringing in his mind like an alarm.

"Ash, never mind. We should think about taking this thing to Rufina." Chronos patted Asher's shoulder, a stern expression on his face.

"Yeah, I feel the same way. Wait, but that strange voice said that this thing will take us back to Malana's village, but how?" Asher stroked his chin, the frown on his face visible.

Suddenly, he frowned as he saw a strange symbol on the creature's body that shone brightly like a small star. Strange, what was that symbol? He couldn't see it clearly, as it was covered by the creature's fine fur.

However, for some reason, when he brought his face closer, all of a sudden the bright light emanating from the symbol became brighter than before. Both Asher and Chronos immediately squinted their eyes, trying to see what it was. But, of course, it was in vain. The glowing light grew brighter and brighter like the sun and instantly the screen turned white.

"Uh, wait, what's going on?" Chronos rubbed his eyes, trying to look around. "Gosh, it's in Malana village, but... but how come?" The furrows on his brow were still clearly visible, a look of confusion on his face.

"I don't know, I don't know either, but it's probably this little bird." Asher stroked his chin lightly at the bird's melodious chirping, "Okay, now we leave this creature to Rufina." He nodded his head, his voice sounding firm.

A look of happiness immediately appeared on their faces, as they realized that the creature was in their hands now. It was like finding a hidden treasure of gems with no words to express it. So, without pausing for long, they strode out with enthusiasm burning in their hearts until finally, they arrived at the doorstep where they first met Rufina.

"Alright, I'm ready." Asher exhaled a long, excited breath like a train, with a reassuring look on his face."Let's do this."

The two of them pushed the large door with all their might, revealing Rufina sitting alone in her throne chair. However, there was something strange about her. She kept lowering her head as if something was bothering her. What exactly was Rufina thinking about? Who knows, but now it was clear that they had to hand over this creature to reunite with Persea and the fairy elders.

"Rufina, we have brought the creature you mentioned." Chronos' voice sounded so loud that it roused Rufina from her reverie.

"Uh, good, let me have a look," Rufina exclaimed as she stretched her hand forward.

Asher slowly opened his grip, he wanted to make sure the bird was okay. Then, the bird immediately flew like an arrow into Rufina's hand and landed on her palm quietly. A few minutes later, Rufina slowly removed her mask, revealing a pair of blue eyes with a symbol that looked the same as the symbol on the bird's body.

'You have completed Quest 9: Seeking the truth.'

'Earned 1800 Exp'

'You have earned 1000 Gold coins, 3x Potions'

'Lv up to lv.10'

'+5 skill points'

"I'm sure you must have met the goddess who guards these creatures. "Rufina smiled, showing happiness on her face. "Goddess Amertha."

That remark immediately made Asher pause for a moment. "Wait a minute, so Amertha is a goddess?" A look of confusion was visible on his face. "But... but how come?"

"We're helping a fairy named Amertha, but she's a fairy like you, not a goddess." Chronos rolled his eyes upwards, trying to recall Amertha's appearance once more.

"The goddess Amertha never showed her true self to anyone. She always disguises herself and tests anyone who enters the Malana forest. Only those who have sincerity and kindness can pass her test," Rufina spoke in a firm voice.

"Oh my God, so it turns out that this was all just a test from Amertha." Asher stroked his chin, a look of disbelief on his face.

"Well, a promise is a promise" Rufina clapped her hands, her clapping echoing in the room.

The door beside her throne slowly opened, revealing the familiar figure of a blue fairy, exiting the room. Relief immediately appeared on Asher's face when he learned that the figure was Persea and that she was thankfully fine.

"Persea!" Chronos shouted, his voice sounding loud.

"Asher, Chronos?" Persea turned around, looking at them, "Oh my! I never really think I'll see you guys again." She immediately darted away quickly, happiness visible on her face.

'Persea, where are the fairy elders?" Asher furrowed his brows, a confused look on his face.

"Relax, she's safe now. The fairy elders are now being treated in the medical section." Persea tugged on Asher's sleeve. "Come on, I'll take you there, come with me." A happy look on her face, a smile did not escape her face.

"I also want to accompany you if you want." Rufina flew closer to them. "I apologize for what I've done. I was only trying to protect my people." She continued to bow her head, regret evident in her actions.

"Rufina, if I were in that position, I would have done the same thing. A good leader should protect his people, right?" Asher smiled, there was no look of annoyance on his face.

Rufina was silent for a moment and slowly raised her head. "Thank you, I appreciate your words." A sweet smile was etched on her lips.

An instant feeling of relief appeared on Asher and Chronos' faces when they saw the fairy elder's condition which was much better than before. The fairy elder's consciousness seemed to have recovered and his body was no longer blue and stiff. Fortunately, their efforts were not in vain.

"Fairy Elder!" Persea shouted, with a happy expression on her face.

"Persea, Asher, Chronos. My God, I'm so happy to see you guys again." She smiled widely, happiness visible on her face.

" Fairy Elder, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Rufina" She bowed her head, showing her respect.

"Oh, yes Rufina. I recognize you. You are the daughter of the fairy elder of Malana village. Wait, but where is your father?" The fairy elder narrowed her eyes, trying to look around.

Rufina immediately fell silent, a tense look on her face. "He's been taken by the Orc king."
