Chapter 36 - The Chosen ones

The nurse quickly ran into Ms Carmen's office. "What is it? Why do you look like you were being chased by a ghost?" Ms Carmen asked with furrowed brows. "They...are...in... a dead state" the nurse tried to catch her breath.

"They are what Mrs Dincel. Don't waste my time" Ms Carmen half yelled at her as her patience was being tested. "They're in a dead state" Mrs Dincel was finally able to say clearly. "What??" Ms Carmen's eyes went agape in shock. "Are you sure of this?" she asked and the nurse nodded affirmative.

Ms Carmen quickly called Mr Powell, Ms Ashley and Mr Brown through telepathy to meet her at the infirmary as soon as possible. She and the nurse rushed back to the infirmary.

Lucian and Brian didn't even feel the presence of Ms Carmen and the nurse until Oliver shook them up. "Are they going to be fine?" Brian quickly rushed up to the nurse. "Amy, Stacy, Melanie, Almora, Becky and Julie" Ms Carmen listed. "What happened exactly?" she turned to Lucian. "The rain was pouring and despite the fact that it poured on them, they didn't move so we rushed them here. It's the same for them too" Lucian explained, them meaning Melanie and her friends.

"Were they the only ones beaten by the rain?" she asked and he nodded negative. The teachers Ms Carmen sent for just got to the infirmary. She called them aside and explained the situation to them. They finally concluded on a decision.

"We're taking them to the Shan building" Ms Carmen said. Lucian, Brian and Oliver stared at each other confused. "The Shan building is the same place you all call the weird building" she explained. "How do we take them there?. It's still in the morning and the students are around" Mr Brown said.

"We transport them" Ms Carmen said. "We are also coming with you. I can't leave her alone with you" Lucian said, blankly. "Fine, Mr Harris. Do as you please but don't do anything funny once we get there" she warned.

Ms Carmen transported there first and the other teachers transported with the girls. They were in the living room of this building it seems. Everything in the building was quite old but still standing. It was spooky to those who saw it from outside but on the inside it was beautiful.

"Welcome to my humble abode" a thick, baritone voice said as he came down from the stairs. The person's brows furrowed on seeing the people laying unconscious. The man was wearing a robe and his hair was long and untreated. His beard was also unshaved. He was looking unkempt but he wasn't.

"You know if it wasn't important we wouldn't be here" Ms Carmen said, staring at the man who had come down from the stairs. "I never knew someone lived here and not to talk of how it looks like on the inside" Brian whispered enough for only Oliver and Lucian to hear.

"What was so important that made you all to come visit me?" he asked, playfully. "They're in the dead state" she said and the expression on his face changed into a serious one. He walked over to Melanie and opened her eyes. "What caused them to be in this state?" he asked.

Ms Carmen explained it the way Lucian had explained it to her. "Water shall pour and the chosen ones will come" he said. "What are you saying?" Ms Carmen said, confused. "They are the chosen ones" he said, smiling. Everyone was shocked and confused.

"But the chosen one is just one person not six" Ms Carmen said. "During the time of the first chosen one, it was said that 'When water pours, the chosen ones will come'. There have been other chosen ones but none like the first one. These girls are the children of the first chosen one. They are his successors. Nothing is wrong with them, they will surely come out alive. Let me quickly prepare the medicine I will use in waking them up" the man explained.

Lucian felt relieved that they would come out alive but he was still trying to digest what the man just said. "How are these his children?. It's been a long, long time so how is this possible" Mr Powell asked, confused.

"Anything is possible Celan. Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean it isn't possible" the man said as he mixed the herbs and potions. He went beside Lucian and pricked his finger taking out of his blood. "Ouch, what do you need my blood for?" he asked, sucking on his finger.

"You have the power of darkness and I need it for what I'm mixing" he explained, still mixing his medicine. After he was done, he took a leaf and dipped into the mixture. He used the leaf to rub the mixture on their forehead and stepped back.

"Close your eyes if you don't want to go blind"
