"Well, fuck."
Hazuna began to speak when Kakashi walked back into the room.
Kakashi : Tsunade sama, here are the reports.
He said.
Tsunade : Hmmm..
Tsunade looked through the reports.
Tsunade : You can go now, Hazuna. I will talk to you tomorrow.
She shot Hazuna a knowing look before she left.
Kakashi began to leave with Hazuna when Tsunade asked him to wait back.
Tsunade : So, Kakashi.
The sannin hummed.
Kakashi : Yes?
Tsunade : Tell me about Hazuna.
She said suddenly.
Kakashi blushed just a bit. His mask covered it though.
Kakashi : What about her?
Tsunade : It's pretty obvious her skills are much above average.
Kakashi : Well, she was a prodigy. Chunin at 8, jonin at 16. She possesses sharingan.
Kakashi began.
Kakashi : Actually, the evolved mangekyou sharingan for that matter. And she has learned to control it over the years. For example, when I was training her, she-
Tsunade : What did you just say?
She cut him off suddenly.
Kakashi : That she has mangekyou sharingan?
He asked.
Tsunade : No no, after that.
Kakashi : When I was training her-
Tsunade : You were training her????
Tsunade asked, putting two and two together and slightly covering her mouth to hide a smile.
Kakashi : Is that a... problem?
He asked, now more confused.
Tsunade : Not at all.
She said, half laughing now.
Kakashi : I am sorry?
He asked.
Tsunade : How old are you again, Kakashi?
Kakashi : 27.
Tsunade : And Hazuna?
Kakashi : 19.
Tsunade : Oooooh, I see.
Kakashi : .....something I can help you with Hokage sama?
Tsunade : Nothing, anyway you are a senior jonin compared to her so I am handing the missions for the next week over to you. Assign them to the rest of the jonin. Ask Hazuna to help.
Kakashi : Okay, then.
He took the document from her and took his leave.
Meanwhile, Hazuna was internally screaming at the incident that had just occurred.
Hazuna : Fuck fuck! Fucking fuck! Shit!
She whispered under her breath as she went and sat at Ichiraku's.
She felt a hand on her shoulder suddenly that made her gasp and hold up a kunai as a reflex.
Kakashi : WOAH- It's just me.
He drew his hand back in surrender.
"Great, just the person I was hoping to avoid."
Hazuna sighed.
Hazuna : Sit.
Kakashi : So, what did Tsunade sama want from you?
He asked, sitting down next to her.
Hazuna : Not much.
She lied.
Hazuna : Wanted to make sure I understood the duties she was giving us well enough. And she also asked about Sasuke.
Kakashi : That's it?
Hazuna : Yup.
She said without making eye contact with him.
Hazuna : You tell me.
Kakashi : Actually, she asked about you.
He said, making her immediately look up.
Hazuna : W-what about me?
Kakashi : Well, your abilities mostly, and she also asked about our ages for some reason.
He said.
Hazuna : Oh?
She wanted to slap herself.
"Why did you have to get drunk that particular day, now she knows.", she thought to herself, mentally slapping herself.
Kakashi : Anyway, we have to go over these reports and assign missions.
He said, holding up a pile of sheets.
Hazuna : Okay.
She nodded, trying to focus again.

[ The next day ]
Kurenai : It seems kinda unbelievable that you are my boss for the next few days.
She told Hazuna, who was sitting in a room in the Hokage's building.
Thankfully Tsunade hadn't called for her today so she had just carried on with her work as assigned.
Hazunap : Well, it's a boring job.
She replied.
Just then, Tsunade walked in.
Hazuna : So this is your mission, Yuhi chan.
She said, handing a scroll to Kurenai.
Kurenai : Got it.
She replied, leaving the room.
Tsunade : How is it going?
She asked, surprisingly casually as she took a seat in front of her.
Hazuna : Okay so far.
She said, looking through the list of missions.
Tsunade : Ask your former sensei in case you have any doubts.
She said, teasingly.
Hazuna : So you found out huh, Tsunade sama?
She said, blushing a bit.
Tsunade : Well, of course.
She replied.
Tsunade : Also you should tell him how you feel about him.
Hazuna : I don't even know how I feel.
Tsunade : I am just saying, you miss 100% of the chances you don't take.
Hazuna : That's very wise, Tsunade sama. But no.
Tsunade : Life as a shinobi is unpredictable,
Hazuna. You never know how much time you have left. Anyway, get back to work.
Hazuna pondered over the words she had heard as Tsunade left. As much as she didn't wanna admit it, it was true.
She'd stayed up nights, wondering what could have been if she had told Shisui how she felt earlier.
"Wait, did I just compare Shisui to Kakashi?"
And just then, Kakashi was back, walking in with his head buried in the latest book of the 'Icha Icha' series.
Hazuna : Oi, Bakashi!
She threw a pen at his head, making him look up in a startled manner.
Hazuna : You are late.
Kakashi : Sorry, I-
Hazuna : Got lost on the path of life?
She asked, brimming with sarcasm.
Kakashi : You know me so well, Hazuna.
He smiled, walking in and sitting down on the table across from hers.
"That smile is ruining everything.",
she thought.

[ One week later ]
Sakura ran through the village with blurred eyes, not knowing who to tell about what had just occurred.
She suddenly bumped into Kakashi.
Sakura : Kakashi sensei!
She said, her voice trembling.
Kakashi : What happened, Sakura?
He asked.
Sakura : Sasuke kun.... he... just..
She could barely get the words out of her mouth, tears falling from her face yet again.
Kakashi : What about Sasuke?
Sakura : He left.
She said, breaking down.
Kakashi : Left where? Left the village?
He asked.
She nodded, staring at the ground.
Kakashi : HOW? WHEN?
Kakashi questioned, astonished.
She didn't seem like she was in any state to answer questions so he didn't bother and ran to Hazuna's house.
How was he going to break the news to her? He approached her front door but found it to be open.
Cautiously, he walked in to find Hazuna seated at the table, going through some random book about genjutsu. she looked eerily calm.
Kakashi : Hazuna-
Hazuna : He left, didn't he? Sasuke?
She said, making him look at her in bewilderment.
Kakashi : How did you know?
He asked.
Hazuna : I saw it coming.
She said bluntly, still not looking up from her book.
Kakashi : Hazuna, do you realise how serious this is? He is a rogue ninja now.
Hazuna : I understand..
She said.
Hazuna : …perfectly.
Kakashi : So, how are you not affected by this?
Hazuna : Kakashi.
She sighed, looking up at him finally.
Hazuna : I don't think you understand how dysfunctional my clan is, or was.
Kakashi : I don't understand.
Hazuna : The Uchiha was a clan that ran on hatred. You experience trauma to awaken sharingan. You feel responsible for someone's death to awaken mangekyou sharingan. The stronger your hate is, the stronger you are.
Kakashi : So, what does Sasuke have to do with this?
Hazuna : He won't stop. His hatred won't subside till he has killed Itachi. Especially, after that encounter with him last week.
She took a deep breath.
Hazuna : And Itachi will finally be able to rest from this terrible life he is living.
Kakashi walked to stand behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders.
Hazuna : I am a horrible person, I know. I couldn't stop him.
She vented just a bit. She hadn't cried in years. And she wasn't about to now.
Kakashi : No, you aren't. His choices are not your fault.
He replied, leaning forward a little.
Kakashi : We have to go see Hokage sama.
Hazuna : I know.
She briskly got up. He patted her back, and they set off.
They quickly went to Tsunade, explaining the situation that had just occurred. Naruto was devastated.
Naruto : I will bring him back!
He proclaimed.
Naruto : No matter what.
Tsunade asked Kakashi and Hazuna to her office the next day.
Tsunade : I need you two to track this address.
She said.
Tsunade : It is very likely that this is Orochimaru's hideout, according to one of our ANBU members. Both of you set out as soon as possible.
They nodded.
Kakashi : Tsunade sama, are you sure it is rational to send Hazun-
Kakashi began.
Tsunade : Do you really think I would let personal feelings interfere with a mission, Kakashi?
She interrupted, still maintaining the freakishly calm look she had worn since Sasuke left.
Tsunade : Maybe you don't know me as well as I thought you did.
Kakashi : I-I am sorry.
He said immediately, his apprehensions clearing.
Hazuna : We will leave at dawn.
She said quietly, walking out of the office.
Tsunade : Please look after her, Kakashi.
She said.
Kakashi : I always do.
He nodded before leaving.
Tsunade stretched her arms up, cracking her knuckles and turning her chair around to the view of the village from her window.
Tsunade : I think I will have to play cupid for these two in the future.
