Chapter 18 - Lord Of The Abyss

The Emergency team at Samaritan hospital hurried away a stretcher into the building premises.

Blood was dripping all over the stretcher down to the ground.

As the stretcher was hauled away further into the building by four personnel, one on each side, a fifth one hurried towards the stretcher.

She pulled out a bandage and tightly covered the arm where the blood was dripping from.

The white bandage was soon screaming red.

Philip and his daughter Zelda followed closely behind.

Zelda stopped at one of the hospital's prep rooms.

She got a white coat, surgical gloves for both hands , and a shower cap.

When she was completely dressed, she followed into the ward where the stretcher had been taken while her father waited at the waiting room.

As the stretcher was brought into the ward, a doctor recieved them.

"What's the situation", she asked as she hurriedly helped the personnel raise the body from the stretcher to a proper bed in the ward.

"The patient's arm has been amputated and a lot of blood had been lost, rendering him unconscious", Zelda replied.

"Then we'll have to focus on the blood issue first.

After that we'll try to revive him.

Send for Carol. I want her team here right now to assist me.

Hopefully, we don't get another comatose".

The doctor said.

"Of course milady, Zelda replied".

Zelda hurried away as the doctor continued to operate on the motionless body lying down on the bed.

**************

"Thuuuummmm".

A clamorous sound was heard which was preceded by the swift involuntary movement of someone violently smacked across the room until they hit the side wall.

The situation instilled fear in the audience around as the smacked individual was rendered motionless.

It was a wide and dark room.

A host of the hooded figures were seen along the two sides of the room, lined up in a row respectively, and at the end was a great black throne.

A huge dark figure with long sturdy-looking horns and flaming eyes sat on the throne.

The area around the throne was so dark, the features of this terrible figure could not be completely seen.

A staff stood by his left side, resting on the throne and two mighty figures standing a little to the left and right.

The hooded figures, both the ones who attacked Monkogon and the ones present in the room were known as 'Looms'.

Looms are dead souls who lived wrongly while they were on earth and were reborn into the abyss.

The figure on the throne was the Lord of the Abyss.

No one had really seen him or encountered him.

Still, the figure on the throne was only but a silhouette that represented his fearful image.

He fundamentally dwelt in a realm where no one knew of or could phatom and used the physical body as an intermediary to communicate with the realm of the abyss.

Even the presence on the throne could not really be seen as it was covered in thick darkness.

Thus, both the original and presumed form of the Abyssal Lord had never been truly encountered.

The room where the host of the looms and the throne of darkness were, was located in the most elevated place in the clouds in the realm of the abyss.

It could be likened unto a palace, a dwelling place which the Lord of the abyss inhabited.

The host of looms had been gathered as result of the incident that currently took place in the abyss.

The loom who was just smacked to the wall was interrogated and confirmed to be the one from whose hands Usher had slipped away.

He was therefore deleted by the Abyssal Lord.

Then the Abyssal Lord spoke again.

His voice sounded like the voice of a multitude in tens of thousands and the reverbration of it filled the whole room.

His speaking pace was rather slow and strong.

"No one ever sets foot in the abyss and returns alive.

Go, find the human and terminate him permanently.

Give no opportunity to a stranger or he will spread any word about the nature of this place".

"It will be done Great Exalted Lord".

The looms replied.

They immediately started bringing out their wings and flying away, following the entrance, leaving the room.

************

'Beep...

Beep...

Beep...'

The sound of armamentarium could be heard gently beeping across the room.

Usher's immobile body was lying down alone in the room.

His left arm had stopped its bleeding because of the bandage, and his pulse had improved.

'Creek...'

The door to the ward slightly opened to a curious looking Zelda entering slowly.

She closed the door behind her and moved to the bed Usher was lying down.

She examined him.

"What a young handsome man he is.

It's a pity".

She thought.

As she was using the back of her palm to feel the temperature at his neck region, suddenly, he jerked into motion like he had received an electric shock and sat up.

It startled her, but she eventually coordinated herself and withdrew.

"Where am I?"

He unconsciously said, looking around the room confused.

He quickly observed the medical nature of the environment around him.

This was the second time he was waking up in such scenery.

He attempted to sit up with the support of two arms but was betrayed by his handicap to the left.

He immediately remembered the incident where he lost his arm.

At first, a wave of sadness for the loss surged through him painfully making his body quiver in fear of having to live the rest of his life handicapped.

He couldn't phatom the idea of having to live like this.

It was unbearable and he felt like dying.

But within a few seconds, the whole feeling vanished and was replaced by a grateful spirit for coming out alive, even after going down to the depths of hell, or so.

At the entrance of this feeling, he began to get exhilirated and a new energy filled his mortal body.

He quickly rushed out of the bed on impulse in an attempt to leave the hospital.

"Wai... Waii...waiii... Waiiiittt!!!"

Zelda said a million 'waits' in a second, her arms stretching out in a manner as if to calm him down admist getting on her feet.

Usher turned for a second to her.

"Who are you?"
