Usher's eyes widened as he caught the sight of the view below.
He was falling freely and feeding his eyes as he looked towards every angle his head could turn to, wide-eyed at what he was seeing.
After about ten seconds of staring, he suddenly realized he was still falling.
"Whaaaaatt?!
What do I do, what do I do, what do I do?!!
He suddenly reached for the the tool bag by the side of his waist and brought out a grapnel.
It was a gun-shaped grapnel which when the trigger is pulled, shoots out a retractable grappling hook attached to a rope.
It was a recent technology in Monkogon and was handy for getting across buildings that are far apart while in mid-air.
As he was getting closer to the level of the top of the buildings of this mysterious place, he pulled the trigger of the grapnel, aiming towards the very top of a tall building.
The grappling hook flew towards the target, carrying a reinforced rope at the tail along with it which kept coming out from the grapnel.
It dug into the wall of the building and Usher swung in mid-air over to the building the grapnel had hooked.
He tried as much as he could to hold himself from landing very loudly on the wall of the building by attempting to reduce his speed before hitting the wall with his feet.
His feet finally landed on the wall of the building.
He then pushed a lever by the side of the grapnel and the rope started getting retracted, thereby pulling him towards the top of the building while he slid on the wall upwards.
The grapnel reached the point of the hook and it clicked in.
At this point he could only stretch his hand and hold the top of the building, helping himself to climb up.
He then pressed another component similar to the trigger which was also located at the under part of the grapnel in front of the trigger, and the hook contracted and broke free of the building, sticking to the grapnel.
He then moved away from the edge to somewhere around the center of the rooftop and threw himself down flat.
"That was so close!,", he said breathing heavily.
"But what is this place?
He suddenly got up again after catching his breath to take a view of the surroundings from that height.
It was a completely alien civilization.
It had buildings just like in the real world, although not as advanced. Also, the buildings weren't exactly upright but a little slanted in their stance.
The buildings were scanty and scattered in irregular patterns. They were not in order.
Asides the buildings, only rocks and hills of different sizes cloud be seen.
At his far right, he could see a forest which seemed to be thick and dark.
The clouds were constantly dim as twilight, the air was very dense and the atmosphere had a kind of pressure that weighed his spirit down.
Just surviving in this atmosphere was really difficult, so he knew he would have to stay out of trouble or it might be the end for him.
"What now?
Have i transited from one caliber of trouble to another?
How do I escape this place alive?
As soon as I'm found, I'll be brutally slain.
How do I even eat?
Where do I sleep?"
Different thoughts flooded Usher's mind simultaneously.
At this point, a great fear suddenly came upon him as the realization of the implication of what he had done just hit him.
"Maybe I should have just stayed in the temple and begged for forgiveness.
What are the chances that I would leave here alive?" He thought.
He started working out his mind on what to do next.
"I think I'm going to make my way to that forest at the furthest end I can see.
Hopefully, I would find a place to sleep and maybe something to eat", he thought.
He started conceptualizing how to get over to his destination.
For some reason he had not seen anyone around, including the flying figure and his allies.
He seized this opportunity to act fast and move into the shadows unnoticed.
He reached again for his grapnel, brought it out and aimed towards a building North-westwards, in the direction of the forest.
He pulled the grapnel trigger and the hook carrying the rope, shot out to the far building, hitting it as the shooter had intended.
He then jumped off the rooftop and swung in an arc, all the way in mid-air until he landed on the wall of the next building.
He then pulled a lever as before and the grapnel started retracting the hook, pulling him upwards towards the top of the building, making him able to climb to the top.
He freed the hook from the building with the second trigger.
After doing this about five times from building to building, he finally got to a building close to the forest.
Because the building was a bit slanted, he jumped onto the declivity and slid down at a fairly high speed, trying as much as possible to generate enough traction with his boots to keep him from moving faster.
When he approached mid-way down the building, he immediately jumped off into free fall.
As he was approaching the ground, with chi, he generated a slight wind current beneath his feet that brought him down to a soft rest.
He started running into the forest.
Just as he was entering the bushes, he started hearing strange sounds behind him.
He immediately increased his speed and then jolted into the thick bushes.
When he was sure he was well hidden and out of sight, he then proceeded to push aside some leaves to catch a view of what was happening behind him.
There appeared a multitude of figures, looking exactly like the ones who attacked Monkogon temple, all with wings and at a very great distance, flying down from a place in the sky, similar to where he fell out from.
His eyes widened at the sight.
"Where'd they come from?"
He said under his breath.
