Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Shakan Feast

Maya and Kelvin arrived home from the scene, and as soon as they walked into their house, Maya turned to Kelvin and asked him to start talking. She was very angry and outraged about the incident.

Maya had made a conscious effort and steer clear of any complications or conflicts cornered to the Daniels over the course of the past fifteen years. And she was almost doing it, but just one night Kelvin spent in Ratel, he shattered all of her hard work.

"Kelvin, we need to address what happened last night," Maya began with a disgruntled tone. "Remember when I pinned you against the wall?"

Kelvin's body tensed as Maya mentioned the incident, and he knew exactly what she was going to say. "Yes," he answered hesitantly.

"Well, I noticed a tear in the bottom edge of your suit last night, probably a tore resulted by an animal claw, or perhaps a werewolf claw ," Maya pointed out. "I think it's time you come clean and tell me what really happened."

Despite initially attempting to deny any wrongdoing, Kelvin knew from prior experience that Maya would not tolerate being lied to.

"Maya, I wasn't trying to hide the truth from you, I would have told you if you asked anyway." Kelvin admitted.

He continued, "I wasn't intending to kill anyone that night. I was just bored and I guess I was looking for a challenge. When the werewolves charged at me and started attacking, I had no choice but to defend myself. Unfortunately, things got out of hand and I ended up tearing them to shreds."

Maya listened intently to Kelvin's explanation, understanding that although his actions may have been misguided, his intentions had been in the right place. She knew that they still had much to discuss about how to move forward, but for now, they shared a mutual understanding and acceptance of what had occurred.

Few minutes after, Joel made his way downstairs in a stunning green tuxedo, generating an approving nod from Maya. She had heard about the Shakan Coven's After Ritual Feast, a celebration thrown after a successfully completed ritual. All the Daniels had been invited.

"But Joel, the party is at night. Why are you already dressed up?" Maya inquired.

"I didn't realize vampires were invited in the ritual, or are you an exception," Maya noted, appreciating Joel's attire. "You look very dapper in that suit, by the way."

Joel responded with a grin, pleased with the compliment. "Thanks, Maya. I'm excited for the event. It's going to be a great time."

Maya couldn't help but admire Joel's appearance in the green tuxedo. "You really look fantastic, Joel," she said. "I hope you have a wonderful time tonight."

This was the same Ritual and feast Alisha talked about with Ethan.

Kelvin looked at Joel appreciatively and said with excitement, "Kudos J, you still got it in you!"

"I guess it's in the bloodline," Joel retorted with a sly grin, sending the group into laughter.

However, Joel is typically not one to go for a tuxedo. He prefers to keep it simple with plain t-shirts. Maya, however, knew the real reason he was dressed up.

"Come on, Maya, spit it out already," Joel quipped, pleased with himself in his stylish attire.

Maya had a knowing smile on her face, secretly hiding something from Kelvin, so he asked what she and Joel were hiding from him.

"Oh, nothing, Kelvin," she said with a playful tone. "You just missed out on a lot."

"Ugh, tell me about it, Das," Kelvin joked, using their nickname for the Daniels. "I always miss out on the fun stuff." Kelvin said.

"Sorry K, you will see." Joel smiled mopping excitedly.

Kelvin cast an inquisitive eye at Maya and Joel, sensing that there was something they hadn't told him yet. However, to Kelvin's surprise and delight, they finally seemed to open up to him.

Joel couldn't contain his excitement as he spilled the beans about his latest crush, a witch named Olivia from the Shakan Coven. "She's unlike anyone I've ever met before," Joel gushed, his passion for Olivia evident in his tone. "Her beauty is simply endless and flourishing. The way she moves, her elegance, her aura - it's all just so captivating."

Maya nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Olivia is something else. I've never seen Joel so smitten before," she chuckled.

Kelvin listened intently, fascinated by Joel's description of Olivia's beauty. "Wow, seems like she's something special," he remarked, nodding appreciatively.

Joel turned to Kelvin and asked, "So, you're coming to the Shakan Coven's Feast, right?"

Kelvin nodded. "Since every Daniel has been invited, I suppose I should go as well."

Joel was known for his love for parties and he owns Ratel city's biggest club, named after their surname "The Daniels". He suggested getting a tuxedo for Kelvin, but Kelvin, being more fashionable, insisted on doing it himself.

After seeing Joel in his stunning green tuxedo, Kelvin saw it as a challenge and decided he also needed to dress to impress that night.

"You should wear your best tonight, the Shakan Coven throws the best feast in Ratel," Joel advised.

Kelvin's memory jogged at the mention of the Shakans. "Oh, you mean Gangia's coven?" he said, finally recalling that Gangia was a part of the Shakan Coven, and Alisha as well.

As Kelvin thought about the upcoming ceremony and the prospect of seeing Alisha again, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement coursing through him. He had only met and speak with her barely twice, but her voice had left an indelible impression on him. Every time he thought about her, his heart would start racing, and he would get lost in his own thoughts.

Now, as he considered the possibility of seeing her again, his mind went into overdrive. Kelvin couldn't help but picture her in his mind's eye - her long hair cascading down her shoulders, her bright eyes alight with magic and mystery. He felt his face flush as he imagined their eyes meeting again, her voice cutting through the noise of the ceremony.
