The sound resembling a gunshot echoed throughout the building.
An object of such close proximity going as fast as the speed of sound will leave the individual of low caliber to a bloody mess.
No matter how talented an individual is, a child is still a child.
Which is why the current situation stood.
To most of the audience it was instantaneous, only those with strength and skill understood what transpired.
A projectile was fired.
And.
The projectile didn't hit the intended target.
When Edil opened his eyes, recovering from his over expenditure of his ability. What he saw or rather who he saw didn't surprise him.
Neptune stood facing him with his fist clutched outward with smoke rising from it. Glaring at him, leaking murderous intent.
Behind him was Fray, dazed.
"Rosalind brat! That was clearly an attempt of killing!" Neptune angrily said.
With those words the frozen crowd erupted.
"Amazing! So, a Rosalind child has a superpower!?"
"Do you think that's why they kept him locked away?"
"A shameful existence for a family of warriors."
"Even if illegal, he did well against that genius."
"What are talking about? Clearly the Templar was toying with him!"
Speculations and arguments ensued. With factions badmouthing the other.
Overall, however treating the incident as insignificant.
While he broke the rules of the engagement, it was none too consequential.
No killing occurred and it rather impressive to reach the point of disqualification instead of losing outright.
Even those who opposed the family couldn't help but respect the boy.
"You are disquali-"
"Sir check your hand." Edil interrupted. Voice slightly quivering due to the pressure he was receiving.
Enraged, Neptune released more of his aura. Ready to deal with the insolent child himself, but quickly quelled his desires.
The consequences will not only be from the Rosalind family but all the families watching. He complied.
("Once this is all over, I will make sure his life is hell during his stay here.")
He opened his hand and found a metal ball, an object with enough speed able to kill.
He gave a smirk and grunted "Hmph what ar-"However he soon had to hold his tongue. With every second, cracks started to appear upon the ball, signifying its fragility.
Eventually what appeared before him was a scrambled mess of an uncooked egg. With the liquid dripping in between his finger.
Dumbstruck he looked to Edil, who returned a smirk.
"Sir what are the rules of a judge prematurely intervening when a person is of no danger?"
"…." He looked upon the egg, realizing he was played with. An impossibility as he was sure the ball was lethal. A expert of his caliber would had not been fooled so easily. Unless….
Clenching his fist out of anger, spraying the yolk everywhere. He couldn't respond, or rather he didn't want to.
*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
He looked accusingly towards the approaching jolly man.
"You win of course, as in a duel no interference is allowed." Said the bald principal clapping happily, approaching the trio.
"Principal!" Protested the judge, clearly defiant after the realization.
"What? The rules are the rules sonny boy. Commit to it, or else favoritism becomes apparent. I'm sure others can obtain the rules easily, same as you have done."
"You!"
"Do you see the boy being able to continue?" The superior pointed out the motionless child.
Neptune looked upon his relative, shocked at his reaction.
"Fray, Fray!" The vice principal attempted to awaken the boy, shaking him by the shoulders.
Upon touch he could tell the boy was experiencing shock, as he was damp with cold sweat and needed immediate rest.
("This is odd, his reaction is too exaggerated. I'm sure he has experienced death before, with his ordeals in becoming a templar. Or else he wouldn't have been chosen. ")
"What is going on…., You wouldn't have?" He stared threateningly towards the overweight man.
The aging man shook his head in response, rejecting such a possibility. Staring at the boy with concern. He returned to look at his vice principal.
"Rules are the rules. We will resolve the issues of young Fray later." The principal replied switching back to his jolly self, smiling.
In response Neptune glared back.
After a few seconds of silence, the vice principal closed his eyes and relented. Recognizing the fight couldn't go on with the condition his representative was in.
"The winner of the match is Edil Rosalind." Neptune announced unwillingly, causing another shock throughout the audience.
"I didn't know the reject could do that…., why act weak if he's this strong!?" Questioned Samuel, confused of the unexpected realization.
"It doesn't matter brother, what he showed wasn't true strength. It's why our mother rejects him; she must have known of his abilities." Samantha said matter of fact.
"You are right sister." He accepted the answer, convinced, and no longer confused upon the matter.
It doesn't matter If the outcast was strong, he is still an outcast.
("" If mother doesn't like him, we won't as well."") Was as far as their mindset will go.
Neptune seized the boy and took off immediately once he announced the outcome, appearing as if he was fleeing due to the humiliation.
The fact though was that he was Impatient to get to the bottom this unnatural behavior and for the child to receive treatment.
Watching the antagonists of his day run off, relief took over Edil.
While it wasn't an ordeal that could have decided the fate of his home, he was happy that he could have been of use.
Without a base to call home, life will be much more difficult.
"Thank yo-"For whatever reason the principal who he thought insignificant vouched for him, recognizing that, Edil attempted to thank him. Standing up to give proper thanks but failing to do so. A sudden spell of fatigue overtook him. Causing him to faint.
