Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Inquiry and First Day of Class

"How are the result of the investigation sir Sigmund?"

"My lord it is as we all expected, the charade they pulled was of no significance. Only a way to undermine your power."

"House Esmeralda still remains neutral. It would appear they were not informed to the extent of the other houses in accordance with the duel. Our informant has reported that mistress Esmeralda has been wreaking havoc throughout her estate in a fit of anger as usual. Her brother is now billing the damages to the other families for quote on quote triggering her. And has only participated in the awarding ceremony to appease the other families."

"House lavender, Clover, and Jasper seems to be more in a unofficial alliance. They have even competed to have the right to challenge your children."

"As you all heard, while they may appear to be united, it is nothing more than a facade." Leonard looked around the meeting room and its participants.

"The fact that they were this candid with their actions means that we shall expect more from them. Even if it is not a alliance, this can be a precedence for them cooperating together once again. Even if we exclude that savage. Three of the family fully working together can still be bothersome." Viscount Nathair cautioned.

"Well, it is not the first that these families have worked to oppose us, what should be taken into consideration is that they targeted the younger generation." Viscount Beheimist said.

"From the report from Sir Sigmund it would appear the goal of this duel was to entrap.

Earl Emeralda into their camp and stop them from being a neutral party. It is paramount for that family to remain neutral or join us. Sir Sigmund what other information that hints to their goals?" Earl Areleser asked baron Sigmund.

"None at the moment sir." Replied the baron with a slight bow.

"Well for now, the worst outcome has been prevented due to my sweet little Edil, what shall be his reward my dear husband. Hmm?" Marylin questioned, changing the subject.

"Marylin that is inappropriate. Not only is the child not a warrior but he was never considered an heir. Rewarding may cause further turmoil, especially in the family." Rebuked a woman with beautiful black hair and features that rival the other.

"Oh, since was it announced he wasn't miss first?"

"You two stop! Be aware of your surroundings." yelled their husband. The whole room fell into silence. The awkwardness encompassing the meeting and the people within.

"Though he does deserve a reward." He said with his hand in his chin, comptemplating.

"Now then, on to the next subject. Please report sir Emilwyn, representative of marquees Fanfnir." He continued, ignoring what he said.

"My lord I must report that our region within the forsaken lands is continuing on course."

. . . .

"Please welcome Edil Rosalind."

The class full of students applauded with enthusiasm.

"As you already know your peer here has been recovering this past week due to injuries acquired from orientation. As he missed a week of class, I do hope you all will assist him and get him caught up."

""Yes, Professor Titor."" They saluted.

"You may take a seat now young Edil, go on to sit at the empty seat in the 3rd row, next to miss Seth."

"Yes sir." Saluting as the other students, Edil walked towards the middle of the classroom.

He attempted to take a seat at his desk but was interrupted by a girl's shout.

"Hey you! How dare you ignore me, a dear acquaintance?" She said haughtily.

Disturbed, what appeared before his sight was a girl with silver hair, red eyes and tan skin. She was what you called adorable even if what came out of her mouth was the opposite.

"Hey, you f**k are you listening!?"

"Yes… yes, sorry I was… wasn't paying attention. Who are you?" He stuttered nervously.

"My god you are the same as ever! Can't you talk? And why can't you remember me for once!!?" She exasperatedly exclaimed. Calling the attention of the class.

"Miss Seth please stop disturbing the class. Young Edil take a seat and please ignore the troublemaker."

"" Yes sir."" Both replied, though one of them sulkily.

"Now then we may begin today's class of combat theories and utilization. In short P.E."

"It is a coincidence that young Edil is here as we'll be discussing the different branches of abilities an individual can practice. You have learned the basics that can be used by all last week and will continue to learn it throughout the year. But today I will educate you all on the different paths so you can learn and may choose. All for pursuing strength and vanquishing evil."

"Most of you have already chosen, however it is best to have knowledge. A principle you all should practice.

Let us now begin with the most common and easily obtainable abilities.

Body and DNA Modifications

These are overly dependent on wealth and sacrifice, though this method can bring opportunity to the less talented.

The advancement of cybernetics and DNA splicing will replace portions of your humanity for strength.

Next Martial Masters

Through talent and hard work, one can be gifted mana by God to empower their very being. Each stage will grant you overpowering strength and surpass the constraints of being a mortal. Something modifications in the possible future can never do.

Finally, we have Superpowers.

Rarer than talent, one must be born with the ability to even practice it.

It is the most diverse of them all, with no precedence of constancy of what ability appears on whom and how powerful it is.

For example, young Edil here, it has been speculated among the staff here what powers he had demonstrated during his duel. What we have concluded was that it is related to magnetism. But another of our students here in this class has a different set of abilities all together. Now students, this is a subject one should never ask of the user. Privacy is the key for superpowers. It is not odd for one to feel offended and retaliate. Individuals may have the same abilities, but they can operate conceptually differently.

Now class any questions?"

"Yes professor!" A student raised their hand.

"Miss Mirandai you may."

"How can one identify between a superpower and a witch's magic? she asked while looking at Edil.

("From her name I recall she is from house Rivercreed, an earl and vassal of Jasper.")

"Yes, a good question many times before when the population of witches was vast, and the start of the witch trials. Varies superpowers were often mistaken as magic. It was only 50 years ago that a contradiction surfaced."
