Chereads / My Deathless System / Chapter 8 - 8. Shadow Strike

Chapter 8 - 8. Shadow Strike

I was floating in space, a vast and infinite space but what surprised me most was my calmness. I was not panicking as if I knew I was safe and sound.

[ Host needs to Select the star to get skills...]

A notification popped up.

I followed all the stars as I did many shone brighter than before. They were countless and choosing a specific one was overwhelming, I wanted to choose them all.

I took a random guess as the following star exploded throwing me out of the space.

I was back in the village, the place where I was practicing with a blue panel hung at the front.

[ Skill obtained!

Shadow Stike.

This specific skill allows the user to strike from enemies' shadows.

One-time use/ day. ( 1 perk point for update) ]

"Shadow strike!" I confirmed.

It was the compatible skill for my poor swordsmanship. If the enemy came off as more decisive then I could use this skill for a sneak attack.

Just like that time when I killed the bandit woman who was at level six and I was one yet I had killed her using a sneaky move successfully.

In battles, even a slight advantage is enough to turn the tables and after acquiring this skill I got something like a trump card up to my sleeves.

I don't know how much this will be effective against the strongest opponents but at least now I could have a fighting chance against some of the low-level opponents.

I went back to the inn preparing myself mentally for tomorrow. I ate and went to sleep.

The next morning came but no matter how many positive thoughts I thought that bitch's face was ruining my mood.

The old man and I decided to head our way as the weather seemed less of a pain in the ass. I was in panic mode again, what if those fuckers were there.

Was this natural? What if in the real world, I knew some thugs were going to rob me in the middle of the night while I was coming home from work? What will I do? The first answer will be to get scared shitless...

Just like last time Jamia gave me a necklace with a stat of 2 defense. It's going to be useless if I fought with it but no worries if I somehow managed to survive selling this will be worth it.

The most noticeable thing was this time while giving me the necklace she grabbed my hand and whispered. "I'll be waiting for you"

We took the same path since it was the only path that led us to our destination. The old man said if we took the short way through the wood instead of the stone pathway, it could be more dangerous than bandits.

Yep, I know! The fucking ice troll. The most dangerous thing I ever had seen in my life. Man that was traumatic. No fighting chance.

After a half day of walking, we arrived at a location where we saw a campfire, next to the stony path. There was nothing else just burned wood logs and coal. No tents and no humans.

I heaved a sign of relief. Thankfully they left before we came here. The storm worked in our favor.

Seeing me staring at the campfire old man explained. "Maybe some travelers stopped by yesterday"

Travelers, sure why not let him think what he wants I knew what they were but it did not matter. The so-called dangerous event had passed.

I said nothing and just followed his steps.

I needed to get stronger to survive and everything came after that. I reminded this thing to myself several times throughout the journey.

We reached home, safely without any incident in our way.

-

I crouched near the dark green bushes, eying the two adult indigo rabbits. I pulled out a dagger concentrating on the bigger one.

My previous sword had been damaged due to my rough practice of hitting a tree behind our house. I wanted to strike something properly instead of air all day long.

It broke down in a mere twenty days so the old man had to buy me a dagger in Stormfront. He warned me not to use it on a tree so here we are hunting damn rabbits.

"Shadow strike" I mumbled again, trying to find the shadow of the rabbit.

Dude! There is no shadow...

Fuck what should I do now? Will this skill work? Is it useless? Only one way to find out.

In the blink of an eye, I emerged out of the snow behind the rabbit. It was fast, so fast that I couldn't even understand what had happened, Rabbit's ears perked up but my dagger swiftly cut through his throat.

Yes! This is the wrath of a beginner.

I jumped back making a safe distance between myself and another one. My blade was smeared with fresh blood.

He swiftly came on his four and dashed at me. I jumped sideways slicing the eyes of the rabbit. He cried out as he made his way towards the other side.

"Old man!" I alerted him after seeing the rabbit making a run for it.

Back to back, three knives struck dead as the rabbit fell to his doom. The Skill of the Old Man does not fail to amaze me.

"Young man, you have gotten stronger" He laughed hunching down to see the conditions of the rabbit. "You were a weak boy when you came to me but in a month"

I rolled my eyes. It's only a month but he was talking as if it's been years.

Indeed since I leveled up I became stronger at least I was better than before, and all thanks to the perk point I had invested into a bone refining stat.

[ Bone refined - 10℅

Note - this skill improves hosts' innate strength. The more it improves the more it will be beneficial for the host to wield heavy objects and will be able to use much force in the combat.

( For updates use the Perk point ) ]

My strength was increased and maybe my attack stats as well but there was no way I could see them.

I cannot see my health mana and stamina.

Just like in real life, I have to assume according to my senses. If I huffed while running then my stamina was low and if I started bleeding in battle my health started draining. What an actual... Forget it.

I still had no idea if I had mana or not. I do not have any magic on me so I guess I will never know unless I join an academy or something.

The old man shook his head and began adding the indigo rabbits to his inventory ring.

I was searching for my options on the blue panel when a sudden notification hit the screen.

[ Ding! The host has successfully lived 30 days in the World of Britannia. ]

[ Reward - 500 Exp added. ]

[ Level up! ]

[ Character. Skills. Inventory.

- Character

Name - Noah Stone

Level - 3 ( 90 / 2000)

Age -14

Race - Human

Perk point - 1 ]

The white auspicious light covered me pushing off all tiredness and fatigue away. I felt like I was refreshed.

"I leveled up again" I smiled.

New skill...

My eyes were searching for the best star among the countless stars. The possibility of selecting some amazing skills was driving me crazy. I was taking too much time.

I selected the better-looking one at least I thought it was the best among the rest.

I was back again at the snow field.

[ Better luck next time! ]

What the heck? That shitty star did not give me any skills? How can this be? What is this lottery? I thought I was going to get a skill every time I level up but it was not like that. If I knew it earlier I would have chosen another star, fuck my luck.

I felt slightly stronger than before but I still had one perk point for use. Where should I invest it? What do I need the most in the current situation?
