Chereads / My Deathless System / Chapter 14 - 14. Trip 2

Chapter 14 - 14. Trip 2

"Why do you believe, they are Bandits?" she asked, her tone wavered.

There we go! I inwardly laughed. It's working.

"They assaulted the girl in the village a few months ago and even threatened her family saying keep quiet or else they will kill them," I let out trying to sound more unhappy. "Every villager is afraid of them but what made me sure about them was their scheme. They were plotting something last night, and I heard some whispers."

"What kind of whispers?" She asked, feeling as if she did not want to hear it but settled on knowing everything.

"..."

Should I tell her what they were screaming last night? What were they preparing for? And in how much louder tone.

What a dilemma I have...

"I hear some words like, Ah!... I mean" I coughed, "Treasure, gut spilling, and backstabbing and yes taking out one by one"

I hope I included everything I want. Or should I add more like drinking blood? No?

She remained calm but her glare told me she brought what I meant to tell her. Kill those bastards.

She looked pissed off.

"if you do not trust me, it's fine but at least be on guard. I don't want something to happen to you" I said softly, it's time to collect some additional browny points.

She ruffled my hair showing me a gentle smile.

"don't worry about me, I am stronger than I look just let me handle these things"

I nodded. Everyone began following the lead of our leader Scott. Those three kept hovering around him like bugs around light.

I wondered if he was their first target, can't blame them tho he looked fully loaded with weapons and mysterious things.

We began going up the snowy slope taking the help of tall and strong trees. I rested my back against the tree enjoying a moment of breather.

"Hey you, stop slowing us down and move, you fucking burden" Rena shouted from the front and began mumbling something to others.

This annoying girl pisses me off every time she opens her mouth.

Amalia next to me followed my example and leaned on a tree for support. She was not tired yet she feigned to take heavy breaths, even Rena could have told that much from her bad acting of being tired.

Scott waved his hands and said. "take a few minutes then we will move"

I smiled looking at Amalia's wink.

I noticed that adventurers had initiated to watch the Bandits trio's every move, especially Scott. He maintained his distance from them.

"We do not have to stop here!" Rena glared at me. "Leave him here, and let's go"

"Go ahead if you want, Path is straight ahead" Amalia smiled at her as Scott made his way back to us.

"Yeah if you do not want to wait you can proceed, like them," Scott ordered.

Rena flared darting her eyes at the trio who had begun moving up to the slope area. I could tell from one look she wanted to but did not dare to take a single step ahead. She was afraid to follow in their footsteps, it was now confirmed they had taken my words seriously even for a girl like her.

Scott grinned at me, coming close. "Should we take a long break?"

"No, no need" I replied. "Let's move, I don't want to be a burden"

"You're not," He patted my back and gave me a knowing smile. "Thanks for the information by the way, I will make sure to keep them in check."

I nodded my head. He then left waving at Amalia as if saying something in sign language.

Amalia's softly laughed as we began moving again.

There was a second reason why I had joined the adventurer's party besides trying to take out these troublemakers, and the reason was I needed information.

The old man could have given me a fair bit of the information but even there was a limit to his knowledge as a gatherer. He had the experience but I doubted that he had all the knowledge of the world. So I thought it would be a great opportunity to get that information from Adventurers.

They travel around the world, solve problems, and protect people if the award is equal to the risk. The best walking sources of information for someone like me.

I asked her a lot of questions, regarding things and as I expected Amalia answered happily as if schooling me for good. She seemed intrigued to answer all the questions.

She told me about her and the things she did, like her elemental type. She was a fire mage and also knew some defensive spells that were fundamental in Magic of Britannia.

Every mage around here had their specific elements, like Fire, Ice, thunder, earth, light and dark.

The Average mage was only able to use one element but there were cases where some could be able to utilize more than one and they were considered genius mages.

One can learn how to use his elements magic on a basic level on his own but if he wanted to master it or even progress further he or she had to join the academies of Britannia.

Amalia had learned the craft from Some standard class academy but because of her efforts, she had managed to outclass many of her peers.

Every mage who goes to academics first has to learn basic defensive spells to protect himself and then they learn offensive magic and how to master it in their ways.

There were three major classes, the first was Mage which was highly respectable, the second one was Summoners. They were also divided into two groups one that could summon beasts or elementals and the second group was necromancers the most despised among the peoples. They were also associated with dark magicians.

The third class was the Warrior class, the ordinary class, regardless of which type of weapon one was using he would always be considered a warrior.

It was also common among the warriors to use enhanced magic weapons that were similar to their elemental affinity.

Everyone had at least a bit of elemental affinity even if they were not able to utilize it like a mage. Like an Axe master Rex whose affinity was Ice and he could use an enhanced Axe to do additional damage to his enemy.

In short, their enhanced weapon could be able to channel their elemental magic smoothly but not on an enormous scale like mages.

The Smiths who acquired the level of master could be able to make enhanced weapons according to their wielder's wishes, all they had to provide them with material related to their affinity. Just like While Forging The Axe, Rex had to deliver Ice crystals as well as Iron ingots.

Amalia sauntered in front of me, her green robe hovering as a cold wind whisked past her. It was thin, unlike our clothes which had extra fur. She told me her robe had a unique ability to restore her mana at a fast rate.

Typical mage clothes.

Scott had leather armor just like Rex and Rena used a tiny type of enhanced robes made for the warrior class. I wondered how much defense their attire had. Surely not like mine...just normal clothes each providing plus one defense stats.

[ Furred coat - Defence 1+

Rough Shoes - Defence 1+

Furred trousers - 1+

Normal gloves - 0 +. ]

"..."

Talking about joining adventurers! What a great preparation I had done but again do I have to fight? No. There are four skilled Adventurers and against them were merely bandits, the outcome is clear.

I grinned ear to ear. Sometimes I wonder why everything is easy, muahahaha.

I had begun noticing changes in me. How I was before and how I am now... two different individuals.

One was an ordinary guy who worked nine to five, trying to get enough money so he could relax all his life but what he did not know was that he was leaving the time of relaxation for the sake of earning money in the first place.

And there was me now, careless and bold enough to think and plan about killing people. Now I have a power I always dreamed of... No deadline nor any responsibilities and No death...
