Chapter 90
(Emma's Fiasco, Pt 2 of 6)
Jake Pov:
We had finally cleared out the house, and Emma was taking out the last beam. I head around the house to the Master bedroom where the knights are. Heading in I see them searching throughout the room. "Any luck?," I ask curious.
"Sadly, no, I guess they were only using that underground spot. Plus, it would have been impossible for them to get here due to the stairs being blocked. Do you have any Idea on where it could be?," The one asks me.
"Lets check the Attic, I managed to find the Stairwell, though it wasn't easy. In the ball room, it had those Diagonal beams by the Window. One of those was in fact, the stairway to the Attic," I tell them leading them to it.
I start clearing it out and putting stuff in the pile, but I don't see Emma. I also smell a weird smell, well, Emma was mad that she couldn't get rest, so she probably wandered off. I head back in and continue taking stuff out to the pile until the way to the Attic is clear.
Once there we head in but see nothing as suspected. "I guess the room below the building was the only thing is use," A knight says.
"Yeah, by the way, I haven't seen Emma since she took out the last beam from the this floor. Do you know where she could have gone?," I ask them as we walk towards the staircase to the second floor.
"I don't know, she was grumpy, but do you have any clues?," They ask me.
"Well, there was this weird smell by the pile. But I didn't pay much attention to it," I tell them, but a look of dread appears on their face. "What?," I ask them.
"I don't know if it is something I am thinking of, but I want to check to be sure. There is something in the Kingdom, like a knockout drug. But it only affects Beast-kin, elves, and dwarves for some reason, and when they are close to the source at that. It lures them in and someone takes them away. That is how we think all those people went missing," A knight tells me as we rush through the building.
We come to the entrance and go out, heading to the pile. We skip the stairs and Jump down the twelve foot wall, I think I'll change that in the future, but for now, Emma. We rush over to the pile and come to a stop. One of the two Human knights that were with me, there were no others, grabs the dirt with his right thumb, pointer, and middle finger. He takes them, rubbing them together, below his nose.
"Well?," I ask seeing a look of fear on his face.
"It is as I thought, when did Emma leave the building last?," He asks me and I think back. Taking into the time of Day, she left before lunch, and it took me around two hours to clear the way to the blocked attic.
"Before lunch, or around two hours ago," I tell them. But at that, their faces go deeper into fear and Pain. "What," I ask them.
"Depending on how far she went, she may no longer be on the estate," The other knight tells me. Knowing I don't have long, I run towards the source, covering my nose. If it is as they said, I can't smell it at all, it affects everyone but humans.
Running along I stop when I see a stain on the ground and look at it. It looks familiar in a way so I touch it as the knights come up. It is blood, I take it to my nose, taking a risk, and smell it. "It's Emma's blood, completely dried out, we really need to Hurry," I tell them getting back up.
She will be near the edge of the Territory by now, it is only four miles from here. If she leaves, I don't have authority to stop whoever it was without evidence. I get into a running stance and cast internal Lightning Magic. I need to run fast.
"How do you know?," The knights ask me as I get into the stance.
"I just do," I say as I take off. I run following the scent, getting closer I see who it is. It seems to be people dressed in straight black, a group of ten, almost at the edge of the land. Then, I see Emma, Draped over one of them, bleeding. All caution forgotten I pick up the pace, only to fall unconscious.
When I come to though, I see the two knight who had followed me, carrying me back to the house. I am such a failure as an older brother!
Narrator Pov:
Back to the villain's, they successfully escaped the estate and headed somewhere. They headed south, into another jungle, not wanting to be caught. Through the trees and past the terrifying monsters, not a care in the world. They had no time to stop, as Jake was a monster of a child.
After multiple hours of running, they exited the forest at midnight. But they did not stop there, they ran for another three hours into another jungle. This one was opposite of the Dire Estate, and they went to the middle of it. There, there was a old abandoned building, forgotten to the world.
They slowed down and took off their masks, revealing some of them. They were low-ranked Nobles who had come to the capital for the summons. The leader of them, took the unconscious Emma inside, and to the basement. He found an empty cage and used Magic cuffs and chains to lock her up tight.
He left, heading to the Meeting room, and entered to see a rather thin six foot man. You couldn't see much as there was no light sadly. "I have brought the young girl, as requested," The man said to the one in the dark.
"Good, I want you to begin the operation Now, she needs to be ready in two days! My master expects it," He tells the man in a fierce tone.
"As you command, we will set aside all others, and make this one into a Doll in no time," he says and he leaves.
Just what are they planning on doing to Emma!
