Chapter 78

(The Slaves, Pt 1 of 11)

Hannah Pov:

We walk carefully, especially me in the dress, around the building. I am amazed that they got this as an award for saving us and our friends. But, who would like this style of building? I mean no-one has anything close to it in the capital, yet they like it?!

I look forward and notice that the building has significant damage. The walls are falling in some places and the ceiling collapsed. This building hasn't been used in decades, if not centuries! But Jake, seems to be on edge for some reason? Does he actually not like it?

He calls his brother and says, "Get everyone back to the carriage, there is something wrong about this place!" What does he mean by that? But then Hunter turns to the building as if he noticed something. But the next thing I know he is in front of me, Henry, Aaron, and Theo with Emma in his arms and Sunny running towards us.

"Follow me!," He says and we run back to the carriage. Looking back I see Jake heading for the garage? What is he hoping to accomplish, not wanting him to be alone I charge after him to everyone's dismay. I enter in behind him, but then the entrance collapses.

Jake Pov:

I was walking into the garage to get to the sources I sensed. But then the entrance collapsed and I turned to see, Hannah. "Why did you come after me!," I ask worried, confused, and angry.

"I d-didn't want you to b-be alone," She says, stuttering.

"Well, now we have to find a new way out, also I was going to check on something. If you don't want to get lost, stick close," I say starting to leave. But then I feel something on my arm, I look to see Hannah holding on. I can't see her face sadly as it is to dark, just what is she thinking?!

Well, besides that, I need to find those energy sources fast. A few seemed familiar, and some in decline, I need to hurry. I pulled myself away from Hannah to her saying, "What are yo—, doing?" She was surprised because I picked her up, bridal style.

"Hurrying," I say, dashing further into the garage and trying to find the path. I used Area sense again and noticed that some were getting weaker. I let my mana out to detect any gaps and found one, finally. Compared to the entrance it was on the opposite side. It is going to take a second or so to get there.

When I get there I realize that it is a stone door, it required Mana to open. Man, why does this have to be so hard tp get to those people. I set Hannah down and say, "Either find your own way out, stay here, or get on my back! We are going deeper to find something I noticed." I said it like that since I don't want to say the full thing, it may frighten her. She ends up getting on my back, and I pull my right arm back.

Hannah Pov:

In this world there are a few types of casting, Depending on the strength, it may require an incantation. Me, with my knowledge from being a noble, knew what was required for chant less casting. No matter how good you are, only advanced people can use Chant less casting.

Every single time you want to cast something, an incantation can be said. But anyone who is a B-rank adventurer and up has the possibility of not needing to chant. The ancient Hero, Jake the survivor, was one who never used Incantations. He only ever used them for his three teleportation spells.

Yet this boy, who is only a month older than me, no less, used Chant less casting! The second I had gotten on his back, he had pulled his arm back. He had then proceeded to punch forward into the wall, and it shattered! That is not possible with Sheer strength alone, for that age, one needs physical enhancement.

But on the other side of the wall was something more disturbing. There were two guards, and off to the side was something foul, down some steps. The second the man had seen Jake, they had rushed at him with a spear and sword. I had fallen and Jake vanished and appeared between them as they keeled. He had punched them and knocked them out cold, in less than a second at that! What on earth is he?!

Jake Pov:

I am sensing the sources, faintly, but still alive down lower. There are hundreds sure, but I know a few, and they don't look good! As I go down, Hannah followed behind me, slowly, as this was unfamiliar. This wasn't the basement entrance, it went below the basement.

I continue down until I eventually see an opening. I go into it to see something I am not prepared to see. "AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!," Hannah screams from behind me when she sees it. But that was bad because now, all the guards notice us.

"What in the world is a kid doing down here!," One of them yells, walking over to me. I notice that they are all coming over here, but looking through them I see something I hate. A female Beast-kin fox with white hair, chained to the wall, cut, bruised and more.

"Jake?," They whisper.

"Layla," I whisper back to which all the guards look at me.

"He knows the girl, KILL HIM, NOW!," One guard yells, as his arm is cut off.

"I, Won't, Let, You, Off, Lightly!," I say, releasing my aura and bloodlust.
