Chapter 70
Jake Pov:
Our clothes had been destroyed and some parts of it lost. So the king had new ones made for us and had given us a letter. The letter had said, "Don't put on cufflinks or anything that shows a family crest. I will be giving you those at the ceremony."
All three of us had wondered what that had meant, but Samuel assured us it was nothing to worry about. Pets were not allowed in the church for some odd reason, so they were staying here again. We left at 7:30 this time as the ceremony was earlier. We would be doing the ceremony, then I would get baptized, finally we would have lunch.
It was a good plan, but that meant I had to bring a change of clothes. The king in his all knowingness had made me a spare pair of clothes. Not that it would matter much as when you are baptized you are dressed in white clothes.
We were heading to the square as we watched people still unsettled about the incident. It was obvious that it was going to take a while for things to calm down. We had to arrive early yet again, and this time we would be talking to the King and Bishop.
We arrive at the square to see it crowded, I know it is an event, but still. We manage to get through and finally arrive at the Church. It has been a week I guess, but still it looks slightly different. The Bishop had me wear a sleeve to hold my arm up as it was still fractured. He couldn't heal everything due to the damage my body had accumulated.
We get out of the carriage and make our way to the church. The knights have set up a perimeter and are checking anyone that enters. Normally there would not be this many commoners for a single event for nobles. But it is about some young men who saved their prince and princess. This nation loves their king and queen, as well as the Prince and Princess.
Before we can enter we are checked by the guards. They do not want a repeat of the beginning of the month, it is currently April 24th. From my knowledge Hannah's birthday is next month while Emma's is also Today. We enter and are shown by a nun to a meeting room.
Inside there are two couches and a table in-between with a tea tray. We sit down on the couch motioned for us and have some tea. Then Rex, Pakora, Theo, Aaron, Darius, and Meshu enter along with two others and the bishop. We put down our tea and slightly bow our heads as they sit down.
Lifting our heads I see that Darius, Pakora, Rex, Theo, and Aaron have sat on the couch in that order. The other four, Meshu included, are standing behind them. Looking closer at the two new ones, one is a Beast-kin Coyote and the other a Elf.
"Jake, Hunter, Emma, you know who we are, this is Maka, My Maid, and this is Toono, the Prime minister," Rex says to us. The first was the Beast-kin coyote with orange hair and a tail to her lower legs. The second was the elf with brown hair and he had glasses.
"Pleasure to meet you," We all said.
"They have good manners," Toono says.
"Well, onto other news, we are here to talk about the schedule for today. I am sure that Samuel already told you but I wanted to. The Bishop, Taka, Toono's brother and my maids Brother in law, is the manager of this church. The Castle is currently in repair and we needed to hold this so the nobles could get home. That is why we are holding it here," Rex tells us.
"The nobles will be arriving over the next forty-five minutes. Then we will hold the ceremony for your deeds. Jake will then go get baptized as Hunter and Emma socialize or watch him. Then we will be having Lunch with everyone. From there you guys will go see the mansion you are getting and that ends the day. Also, in a few months before you go to school, Hunter, you will need to hold a party for becoming a noble. We will be sending some people to help out with that," Toono finishes saying.
"Well, you heard him, now lets hope things go better this time. We have 250 Holy knights here in case anything happens and 500 knights ready to go at a moments notice. No-one will be ruining this ceremony," Darius says and with that they all take their leave. But on the way, Aaron, sends me a mischievous smile. What was that about.
We wait in the room for the next forty+ minutes having tea occasionally and practicing. Then, there was a knock at the door, due to our last experience we all got into fighting stances. To see that it was only Maka, Rex's maid, with no danger we followed. It was being held in the Chapel due to the amount of people and that was the only place for ceremony's most of the time.
The chapel had carvings on each side of ten figures, the gods mostly. At the front there were two statues even though there were only nine gods, technically ten. The other statue was there to represent the man who saved the world, not a god, the tenth is kinda unknown. He had sacrificed himself for others with no care for himself. He was the one true Hero of this world, his statue was the only one with good details.
The reason that he was the most detailed was because everyone saw him. They had seen him, but not known his name, as he had appeared and saved them, only to disappear. He was known as a Demi-god, that was also part of the reason he was here. He was given that title due to his impossible feat that he performed.
The seats had been changed so everyone could look at the isle. You had low ranked nobles at the back and high ranked at the front. My brother walked down the middle with me on the right and Emma on the left. But as we did I couldn't help but feel a angry and wanting glare aimed at me and my sister.
