Chereads / The Alpha's Slut Mate / Chapter 17 - Poisoned.

Chapter 17 - Poisoned.

Becky sat on the bed near the window. The atmosphere was heavy and tense. The wolf doctor was tending to Becky's gun wound. She winced each time the doctor touched it with his cotton while cleaning it.

"This will hurt. Stay calm, do not allow the herb to fall off. The poison is not that strong; so by morning, the power of it will subside" Doctor Leo said to Becky.

Becky nodded and watched the doctor take the herb from the bow plate where he had squeezed the juice out. He took the leaves which were still in the juice towards the gun wound.

The moment it touched the spot, Becky whimpered. Her wolf was doing its best to fight the poison, but due to the strong effect of the poison, she couldn't help but feel scared.

Amidst this fear and pain, she smiled when she saw Noah coming towards her. His face grew cold as he walked in the corridor towards the room where she was. He was aggrieved.

His footsteps were heavy which made the doctor drop the herb in his hands and leave Becky's side, then stand at a little distance to let Noah take Becky's side.

"Noah, " Becky called.

Seeing Becky wince in pain, Noah couldn't control the anger in his heart. He couldn't help it anymore, the humans had gone overboard by hurting the woman he cared for and it was time he did something to pay them back.

Once he was beside Becky, the teary look in her eyes made Noah afraid, he grabbed her hands immediately and asked, "Becky how are you feeling?"

Becky only stared at him, her stiff breathing indicated that she was doing her best to get rid of the poison. She couldn't open her mouth to form some semblance of reply. She knew the moment she let him know how painful it felt, he would tear up and his anger would reach its peak. Maybe he won't be able to control himself and end up doing something that would jeopardize him without thinking.

Becky swallowed her pain, adjusted and gestured for him to sit beside her.

Noah took Becky's hand and inspected the gun wound. He looked at the doctor who finally spoke, "We're lucky this poison is not as strong as the one they used on the Alpha. Sadie's guard couldn't survive it so he died on the spot."

"How sure are you that she would be able to survive it?"

"Noah, you have to relax. Her wolf and the anti-poison I injected in her are doing a good job. It wouldn't take until morning till it subsides, that's for sure."

Noah heaved a sigh of relief, he turned towards Becky and peered into her eyes. Even without her telling him, Noah knew very well the sort of pain Becky was enduring, he knew she didn't want him to know about the depth of it because he would break out, but he didn't know how much her silence hurt him internally.

"I can't take it anymore. I won't listen to you this time. The humans have gone overboard. Don't try to stop me, I will get back at them."

"No Noah, don't. The doctor said that I'm going to be fine right? There's no need to attack them."

"Becky is right. Attacking the humans will only spark more chaos that we won't be able to handle. All we have to do is wait a little. It seems other packs have been attacking humans recently in the provinces. The security is tight now. We need to be careful or we will cause more problems for ourselves."

"Until when should we wait? We shouldn't fold our arms anymore. We should take this opportunity that other packs are breaking the law and dive in. We can't keep playing the saint game."

"But Noah, think twice. It was Sadie's guard who kidnapped the lady and raped her. One of us provoked them first, and that is why they attacked us. We live in a secluded place in the city, if one of us had not broken the law, they wouldn't have tracked us this far and figured out the pack house."

Noah did not respond for a moment and just regarded Becky with a gaze filled with anxiety. He was having something else in his mind, he was not sure if he should tell her he was the one who did it.

Blaming the guard made him feel guilty especially now that the guard was dead. He knew that it was totally wrong to accuse the dead. What if the guard's spirit haunts him for it?

It would be cruel to keep the secret and also scary if the dead spirit of the guard haunts him. He was not a demi-god to not have this kind of fear even though he was the alpha's son and one who was expected to be strong; physically and spiritually.

It took all in him to say, "Becky, I...was the one who did it. I was the one who raped the lady.

Stunned, Becky turned to look at him. "W—what?" Becky almost shouted. She frowned. She didn't know when his words sent a shiver down her spine. Noah was definitely not the type of person to hurt people in that manner. What came over him this time?

"H—how could you do that? Do you know how painful it is for that woman? I don't know you for this Noah."

"I'm sorry, Becky, I didn't mean to do it. But it's not my fault either. That woman is Pedro's daughter."

"What?!"

"Yes. I swear, I had planned to poison her too and not force myself on her, but when I got there I was carried away by my anger and I remember I took a lot of alcohol that night."

"I hope no one else knows about this?"

"The six of them know and they were the ones who kidnapped her."

"But how come she got to this place, no one dares to enter this part of the city."

"Obviously, she lost her way. That's what I think."

"What if other packs find out about it?"

"They can't blame me for it. The humans poisoned my father. I was revenging for what they did. That's justice has been served here."

"You know that it's still a secret your father was poisoned. If the other stronger packs find out about it, they will not take it as justice has been served. They would only blame your father for being weak and not careful. Your pack will only face the consequences in the end."

"I have also tried to let Noah understand these facts, but his anger... I think you should teach him how to control it or else, the Red Dragon pack will continue to be known as a weak pack and subject to other stronger packs." The doctor said.

Noah only sighed at the doctor's words and said,

"Shouldn't it be werewolves who should take dominion over the humans?" Noah was still fuming over the fact that someone with natural powers like him would be controlled by one whose main power only depended on weapons and poison.

"Sadly, no, not until a werewolf is made the president of the country. Besides, it's not just this city that is fighting werewolves and other paranormals. The world at large wants to get rid of us."

"But is it our fault that we are what we are?"

"I don't know, dear Noah. No matter how I think about it, I can't understand why it should be our fault and I still don't know how we will get out of it. But I'm proud of one thing Noah," She inhaled deeply and smiled as she peered at Noah.

"I'm happy I'm born a shifter wolf. I have special abilities ordinary humans can't survive to have. Like now, my body is fighting this poison. My body can heal wounds faster and completely without medical support. I can do so many other things they can't do." Becky nearly choked as she finished speaking. She was coughing.

"Get her water, hurry!" Noah ordered. He wrapped his arms around her. "What is happening to you? Becky talk to me. Are you alright?"

Becky's cough persisted making it hard for her to answer Noah.

"Get her water!" Noah now screamed at the doctor who stood transfixed as if he was lost.

"Becky, Becky!!"
