Chapter 24 - The Title-less Book

One thing that Zheng was sure of was that he was a beast tamer. He guessed that it was because he was technically a dragon's progeny.

'But why can't I tame a dragon?' He thought.

The answer to this question eluded his mind.

Zheng was being trained in taming dragons in order to help him succeed his father when he passed on.

The Red dragon soul would escape from the Emperor's corpse and Zheng would have to tame it and later bind with it before it could absorb enough mana to become dangerous. This was the tradition for every successor of Camelot's throne.

When the Red dragon soul leaves the corpse, it will be very weak hence its movement will be limited

However, another idea came to him.

'Why don't I train myself to be an expert beast tamer and help the kingdom fight beast barrages?'

He sat up in excitement.

"I have a good idea. So, how do I go about to realize it."

He recalled some information from a book he read. The book talked about self management of mana.

The book was gifted to Zheng by his father. The book cover was an inch thick and brown in colour. It had no title and was bulky. Its contents were written in various languages. But from the readable preface, it claimed that it was written by an anonymous author.

The Emperor's intention for gifting Zheng the nameless book, was for him to learn about mana and grow his magical energy. He wanted Zheng to be stronger than him and innovative in the magical field.

From the contents of the book, Zheng observed that the author lived on another continent that was not within the known continents of the world. This was because the contents of the book kept referring to some magical objects as common. Whereas in the known continents, almost 99% of these magical objects were rare.

'Is this place part of that continent?' Zheng questioned the possibility, but no one could give him an answer at the moment.

"When one makes use of magic, their mana reserve is drained. For those who have a low-capacity mana reserve, this can be very irritating and inconvenient." Zheng recalled this line from the titleless book.

"The capacity of one's mana reserve depends on the constitution of their body. A mage with a tough body constitution is assured to have a high capacity mana reserve."

Zheng mused, 'Maybe I don't have a tough body constitution.

'Ah, darn it. That text was for lord mages. I'm like a light mage. I guess I have to pull out the book to look up something.

Zheng activated his interspatial ring. An interdimensional rift appeared before him. To access or know any content in the space pocket, he must concentrate well on his intentions.

Zheng willed the titleless brown book out of the space pocket. The book floated out of the rift and fell to the ground. However, he was not satisfied with his performance. He had seen other interspatial ring users will items into their hands.

Zheng sat on the floor with his legs folded. He scrolled through the book to the section that had content that was written in the common language of his continent.

"INCREASING MANA RESERVE CAPACITY FOR THE LIGHT MAGES"

"Phew, thank goodness," Zheng sighed in relief.

"Before continuing practise on this path, the light mage must ensure that he or she has been bound with a magic orb."

"Light mages who have damaged magic orbs should refrain from practising the contents of this section. They should focus on restoring their foundation. After doing this, they can find a new magic orb, bind with it, and return to practise the content of this section."

Zheng got a bit worried by the information he just learned. He wasn't strictly a light mage, he could just make use of magic orbs. He continued reading.

"Beast tamers can follow the practises in this section to increase their mana reserve capacity."

"It should be remembered that due to some complexities, beast tamers have a magic orb within their bodies. This magic orb is a bit bigger than a pin light source."

'So, I may have a tiny solid mass chilling somewhere in my body,' Zheng mused, fascinated.

"Beast tamers beware that the path to becoming the strongest beast tamer is rough. Only a few people were lucky to have it easy."

"Beware that you will be tempted to sell your soul to the devil. If your mind isn't strong enough to think reasonably after being awed by the power of legend ranked beasts, you are very likely to make a bargain with the Lord of Hell."

Zheng was mind-blown by the recent sets of information. This information suggested that the author lived on a continent where beast tamers were common.

'The author said something about legendary-ranked beasts; what in the world is that?'

'Was he referring to the ranked 4 beasts?'

'Could it be that beasts that evolved to rank 4 migrated to this continent?'

'It could be,' Zheng wondered about the possibility.

He hoped that one day his home wouldn't be attacked or overtaken by the so-called legendary beasts.

'How in the world did this book get here from that continent? Could it be that the author moved to this continent?'

Zheng thought of another possibility, 'Could it be that father travelled to this foreign continent to learn about his powers and how to grow it rapidly?'

'Nah, father would have told me. He doesn't hide anything from me.'
