"Did you guys see that?" Kevin asked after he had taken off the helmet and gotten off the floor. "I beat Max without using magic."
"Of course we saw it Kevin." Jake answered. "We've been watching the fights that have been happening."
"I was just asking to be sure you guys saw me win a fight without magic." Kevin said. "So even without magic I can still beat some people."
"Yes, some people." Anna said.
After Jake's and Kyle's respective fights, the students were now entering the semifinal round of the tournament. The students who made it into the semifinal round were Jake, Kyle, Kevin and Rick.
While looking at the television screen, Anna spoke to the students who had advanced into the semifinal round. "Congratulations to you all for making it into the semifinal round of this little game we're playing. Kevin, Jake, Rick, Kyle, this is where we'll see who advances into the final round. Are you guys ready?"
"Can I get a good luck kiss from you Miss Anna?" Kevin asked.
"I would Kevin. But let's be honest, good luck kiss or not, the only chance you have of making it into the final round is if your opponent is Rick." Anna said to Kevin. "If you get either Jake or Kyle as an opponent, forget about entering the final round. So maybe you should start praying again, another miracle might happen."
"Isn't there a way you can tweak the box under the TV? So that it puts me in a fight against Rick?" Kevin asked.
"Why would I do that? Anybody your name is put with, you fight the person." Anna said while smiling.
Now appearing on the television, the names of the last four students had been matched up into their respective fights.
"Looks like your luck has run out already Kevin." Anna said as she saw the names that had been matched. "First fight is between Jake and Rick."
"What?!" Rick shouted. Looking at Jake, Rick was worried. 'He might want to take revenge on me because of the way I killed Smith. But...But, who does he think he is, he thinks he's so strong. I'll show him.'
Going to meet Miss Anna, Jake collected a helmet from her and put it on. 'Should I end this fight quickly? Or should I make it long just for the fun of it?' Jake thought. 'I think I'll end it quickly, there's no point in making the fight long. The fight I'm looking forward to is the fight against Kyle, that fight is going to be momentous.'
Seeing himself standing in an open field with nothing but grass which reached the level of his knees, Jake turned to his back and saw Rick already running towards him while pulling his hand back for a punch.
'I can't beat him, his magic is the highest I've sensed amongst the students in the training room.' Rick thought while running towards Jake. 'After Miss Anna Jake is the second strongest, but I have to try.'
Dodging the punch from Rick by moving his head, Jake didn't move from the spot he was standing. Rick kept attacking but Jake simply evaded or deflected the attacks.
'I can't even touch him.' Rick thought while trying his best to hit Jake in frustration.
'I've had enough.' Grabbing the fist heading towards his head, Jake broke the wrist of the hand then gave Rick an uppercut which closed his open mouth and sent him a few metres into the air. 'He's lucky I didn't use my full strength, his head would have been detached from the rest of his body.'
Landing on the ground with his back, Rick turned to lie on his stomach and coughed out a lot of blood. Hearing distant footsteps, Rick saw two legs coming into his line of sight. That was the last thing he saw before opening his eyes and seeing himself back in the training room.
"Damn Jake, now I realize you went easy on me." Kevin said to Jake after he got up from the floor and joined him. "You defeated Rick with just two hits, an uppercut and a kick to his head. That was extreme."
"And you still didn't use magic." Smith said.
"What can I say? Hard work pays off." Jake said while looking at Miss Anna who was smiling at him.
"Okay, the next fight is between Kyle and Kevin." Anna announced. "Come over here and put on your helmets."
Putting on the helmet, Kevin wasn't bothered about losing the fight. 'At least I made it to the semifinals, my position on the leaderboard will be nothing less than fourth place and that's good enough for me.'
Appearing in an arena with a black ground and piles of ashes on the floor, Kevin looked up and saw a black sky. 'What kind of place is this?' Seeing some particles of ashes floating around in the air, Kevin ignored his surroundings and turned to face Kyle. 'I hope this works.'
Closing his eyes, Kevin triggered his magic and was trying to possess Kyle until he felt a very solid fist land firmly on his nose. "Why do you guys hate my nose? You didn't see my forehead to hit?" 'What am I going to do? I couldn't possess him, and I definitely can't beat him in a fight.'
Moving closer to Kevin, Kyle was about to hit Kevin again on the head when Kevin jumped at him and tackled him. Now on the ground with Kevin on top of him, Kyle put his hands on Kevin's abdomen and threw him over his head.
Landing with a loud bam and particles of ashes flying everywhere, Kevin closed his eyes and bent his back inwards due to the pain he was feeling. "Did you really have to slam me that hard?"
Standing to his feet with parts of his clothes stained black, Kyle said to Kevin "You're the one who tackled me to the ground." From where he was standing, Kyle stretched out his hand and released a stream of poison from his index finger which hit Kevin's head and killed him instantly.
