The sales representative eagerly escorted Jayson through the various outlets, but to her dismay, he showed no interest in any of the clothing she presented to him, no matter how persuasively she presented them.
"Sir, this exquisite piece was designed by a renowned Italian designer and would complement your style," she offered, only to receive yet another shake of the head from Jayson.
"Perhaps this summer trend will catch your eye? It is quite expensive but worth the investment," she suggested, but again, Jayson wasn't swayed.
After an hour of fruitless persuasion, the sales rep was becoming increasingly frustrated. Her hopes of earning a bonus from this sale were quickly fading.
"Sir, may I ask what you're looking for?" she inquired, her expression darkening. Despite her professional demeanour, she couldn't help but curse Jayson's third-generation under her breath.
"How do you expect someone like me, a millionaire, to wear such shabby outfits? Please show me something better," Jayson demanded.
The sales representative struggled to conceal her frustration as she accompanied Jayson to the premium men's wear section. He randomly pointed to a few items, including a suit, and demanded that they be packed up. Despite her suspicion, the sales rep complied with his request and brought the items to the cashier's desk for payment.
"How much is it?" Jayson inquired.
"Two million," replied the sales rep, causing Jayson's expression to darken. The sales rep's heart raced, wondering if he was just teasing her earlier.
"I need to pick out more to make it four million," Jayson muttered, pointing at several pairs of shoes. The sales rep's face drained of colour as she begrudgingly gathered the additional items.
"Sir, your total is now four million," she informed him, wary that he might try to cause trouble.
As a precaution, the sales rep notified the security department about Jayson's behaviour.
Jayson casually swiped his card on the payment machine, which buzzed and printed a receipt. The sales representative's expression transformed from indifference to delight as she gazed at him.
"You are a valued customer, and I will provide you with excellent service," she exclaimed.
Jayson grinned, savouring the sensation of being admired. He understood why the wealthy dread poverty.
"I want the package delivered to my residence," Jayson said, flashing his pearly whites.
"Please share your address, and I will ensure it reaches your doorstep," the sales rep responded flirtatiously.
Jayson met her eagerness with amusement and offered the hotel address he had recently vacated before departing with Jao.
Upon returning to the hotel, Jayson was taken aback to find the entire Wilson family waiting for him.
As Jayson approached them with a smile, their faces contorted as if they had just eaten something unpleasant. "Do all of you really need to come?" he asked, still smiling. "The almighty Wilson family can take care of their son-in-law just fine."
Daniel shot Jayson a glare that could have melted steel. "You think this is a joke?" he spat.
Jayson chuckled nervously. "Okay, okay, no need for a staring contest," he said, trying to sidestep the confrontation.
Elena trembled, taken aback by Jayson's apparent dismissal of her. "Jayson, please listen to me," she pleaded. "We're here because we want to bring you home, and we're sorry for how we treated you."
Mrs. Wilson chimed in with a strained tone. "It's true, Jayson. You're such a good son-in-law, and we were blind not to see it before. Please come home with us." But her words rang hollow, and the family's insincere acting was painfully obvious.
Elena nudged Lucy to apologize, and although reluctant, she muttered a "sorry." Jayson, now wiser and more discerning than before, wasn't fooled. He responded with a smile and said, "No problem."
The Wilson family members couldn't help but feel proud, knowing that they would soon welcome Jayson into their family. However, Jayson quickly put an end to their celebration by saying, "But...I will only come if you all kneel and plead." He grinned mischievously, causing their faces to darken with anger as they glared at him, wishing they could swallow him whole.
Lucy was seething with anger as she confronted . "Thrash, Who do you think you are to make us kneel? Are you tired of living?" she spat out.
Jayson, on the other hand, chuckled dismissively. "Since you're not sincere, I'll leave first," he said, turning his back on the group.
Elena, desperate to stop him from leaving, threw herself on the ground and clutched onto Jayson's leg. His heart skipped a beat, but he quickly composed himself. Despite everything she had done to him, he couldn't deny that Elena still had a hold over him.
"Jayson, please come back home with me. I'll be a good wife," Elena pleaded, her cries attracting the attention of passersby.
Onlookers discussed the scene with interest. "That guy is lucky. That beautiful woman is begging him to come home," one remarked.
Jayson, however, saw through Elena's ploy. He shook his head and smiled wryly. She was trying to use public sympathy to manipulate him into returning home.
Jayson flashed a smile and declared, "Elena, I'll come back with you." Elena hesitated, her suspicion evident in her tone as she asked, "Are you sure?" Jayson nodded, prompting Elena to release his legs and stand up on her own.
However, he added a condition, "Your entire family must kneel before me, otherwise, I won't return." With Jao following behind him, Jayson turned around and walked away with an air of confidence. Elena felt a wave of anger and frustration wash over her, almost making her sick.
She looked at her mother anxiously and said, "Mom, Jayson is leaving."
Mrs. Wilson replied unhappily, "You should just forget about him; we could get someone else for you to marry; Jayson isn't a good candidate anymore."
"True, I don't even know what you see in that bastard!" Daniel agreed with a face filled with wild rage.
Lucy nodded, and Elena's face turned pale before she explained in a hushed tone, "Mom, if Gabby discovers that I am pregnant as a divorcee, he will force me to terminate the pregnancy."
The rest of the Wilson family members turned ashen at the thought of kneeling before Jayson made their heartache.
