Chapter 8 - Finding Someone to Take the Blame

"Are you guys alright?"

Seeing the Ford smash into the trash can on the side of the street, Roan turned around to check on Mona and the girl in the dress.

"I'm fine."

Mona only had some dust on her body and was not injured. However, the girl in the dress had a few bruises on her shoulder and back because she was sitting in the driver's seat when the shooting happened.

"It's good that you're not injured."

Roan automatically ignored the girl's vulgarities and threw Mona a look to signal her to solve the problem. He picked up his gun and slowly walked toward the black Ford that had bumped into the trash can.

As Roan had expected, there was no one in the driver's seat of the black Ford. Roan walked around the car and did not find anything wrong. He began to search the car for useful clues.

A minute later, Mona walked over and smiled at Roan. "She's just a little girl who skipped class behind her parents' backs. I've already chased her away."

"Are you sure?"

Thinking of the anklet of the girl in the dress, Roan shook his head and did not probe further. Instead, he handed the car registration certificate he found in the car to Mona and said, "There's the owner's name on it. How about it? Can you find out the other party's identity?"

"Three minutes."

Mona gave Roan a 'trust me' look and turned to retrieve the laptop from the SUV. Before she left, she patted Roan on the shoulder.

"You actually found the murderer. You're really lucky… My luck isn't bad either."

It was said to be three minutes, but in reality, it was less than two minutes. After a series of typing sounds, Mona turned the computer screen around, indicating for Roan to check the information she had found.

"Conrad Cutler, male, 40 years old, ex-marine scout…"

Seeing that the photo on the computer looked the same as the person who shot him, Roan clapped his hands.

"I told you that the murderer is definitely a retired soldier."

"Yeah."

Mona nodded helplessly and put away her laptop. She then asked seriously,"

"What do you plan to do next? The two of us definitely can't beat the other party."

"No, it's only you that can't beat him."

Roan shook his head and said something that made Mona grit her teeth. Then, before Mona could flare up, he took out his phone and said, "Give the leader a call first and ask them to issue an arrest warrant for Conrad Cutler."

"Why?"

Mona was puzzled. The release of the arrest warrant let the intern agents of the other teams know the identity of the murderer, right?

"Two reasons, Mona."

Roan took out his phone from his pocket. When he saw the brick-like body of the iPhone, his mouth twitched, but he still explained to Mona, "Firstly, we are currently in Scarsdale Town, a well-known wealthy area in New York. A dangerous murderer is hiding in this area. If something really happens, the two of us intern agents can't withstand the anger of the FBI higher-ups. Therefore, we must report this matter. If anything happened, it would be a headache for the higher-ups."

Mona was surprised to hear Roan's words. She turned around and looked at him carefully, as if she was meeting him for the first time.

"The second point."

Roan finally found Augustus's number in his contacts list and continued, "As long as the FBI issues a arrest warrant, there will more or less be a reward. If we catch him, we can get more money."

"..."

Mona's eyes lit up when she heard that she might get money.

...

In a conference room on the 2nd floor of Jacob Federal Office Building, the leader of Investigation Team No. 5, Augustus, was having a meeting with the leaders of the other investigation teams and the team supervisor, Veronica.

Beep, beep, beep!

Hearing the phone on his waist ring, Augustus did not hesitate and turned to leave the meeting room.

The team supervisor and the other team leaders glanced at Augustus and did not mind. This was the norm for all team leaders. If there was a case, they naturally had to answer the phone quickly, even if it was a meeting.

In the next second, Augustus' loud voice pierced through the wall and entered their ears.

"What is it? You found the murderer now?"

Investigation Team No. 1's leader, Bronson, heard Augustus's words and felt that something was wrong.

Could it be Roan Greenwood's case?

However, when he thought about how he had passed by the intern agents 'office before the meeting and saw them investigating the victim's social relations and analyzing the clues, he shook his head and smiled.

He was definitely thinking too much.

Bang!

The door of the conference room was pushed open. Augustus walked in and said to the team supervisor, Veronica,

"I'm sorry, supervisor. I have a shooting case here that needs to be dealt with urgently."

Veronica's expression did not change. She asked, "What shooting case? I don't remember you having a small case like the shooting case."

"It's the test case of the intern agents. I have a new intern agent named Roan Greenwood under me. He just called me and said that he has found the murderer of the shooting and murder case."

Augustus was very respectful to the team supervisor, Veronica. There was no other way. The funds for the team's activities were all in her hands. When Augustus heard her question, he immediately answered, "The murderer is a retired soldier with strong abilities. He disappeared after losing a car. Because the murderer has a high awareness of counter-detection and is very good at hiding himself, the intern agent, Roan Greenwood, requested me to issue a bounty for the murderer and urgently inform the residents of the Scarsdale area to pay attention to their safety."

The pen in Brosen's hand accidentally fell on the table.

"Scarsdale is a well-known wealthy area in New York."

Veronica closed the pen in her hand and leaned back in her chair. She stared at Augustus and said, "If someone gets hurt there, I'll be in a very passive position, do you understand?"

"Yeah."

Augustus nodded, indicating that he understood. "I will post a reward and mobilize the SWAT tactical team to seal off the area."

Seeing that Veronica nodded in satisfaction, Augustus picked up the notebook on the table and left the meeting room.

"Intern Agent Roan Greenwood."

Veronica wrote down the name Augustus had just mentioned in her notebook. The corner of Bronson's eyes twitched when he saw this scene.

In the intern agent's office...

Except for the two-man team of Roan and Mona, as well as the hospitalized team of Fisher and Markey, the rest of the intern agents were basically here.

"Mike's wife didn't have time to commit the crime."

Jody, who had been standing at Fisher's position but had been beaten up by Roan, covered his right face with an ice pack and said in a muffled voice, "According to the interrogation records, she was attending a seminar in Los Angeles at the time of the crime. Everyone at the seminar can testify for her."

"Who are Mike's friends?"

"They are either reporters or members of parliament, or senior officials of various companies, such as Shawn, the partner of the Moroway Pharmaceutical Company."

Just as this group of intern agents who had been beaten up by Roan were analyzing the case one after another, the baldy opened the door and walked in. He shouted,

"Lads, you have a new mission. Go to the Scarsdale area and participate in the search operation!"

"What?"

Jody stood up with an ice pack in his hand and asked in confusion, "But, Sir, we haven't found the murderer of the shooting murder yet..."

The baldy waved his hand to interrupt Jody and said directly, "The target of this search operation is the murderer of the shooting and murder case. Also, the other party's tracks were found by Roan and Mona, so the two of them have already obtained half of the 80 points. The rest of the points will depend on who is lucky enough to catch the murderer."

"What the f*ck?"

Hearing the baldy's words, the intern agent's office was suddenly filled with a series of gasps.
