In front of the conference room door, Fisher was on the ground, ears bleeding, hands clutching his groin, screaming in agony. Maki was lying on the floor with his legs split, wailing non-stop, his left foot twisted at an odd angle.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!"
"Stop it!"
"Quick, pull them apart!"
Luo An moved too fast. From his loud shout to actually making a move and causing Fisher and Maki to fall to the ground, it took only a few seconds. Many of the intern agents in the office had not even reacted until both men were on the ground, screaming in pain. Then, the interns nearby finally snapped back to reality.
A few intern agents who got along well with Fisher exchanged glances, then rushed forward in an attempt to take Luo An down. Luo An darted left and right, wielding the notebook he had snatched from Fisher's hand either sweeping or smacking it down, effortlessly breaking through the interns trying to surround him and mercilessly delivering a harsh facial massage to the few familiar faces in his memory.
"FU-K!"
"Huge gift crab!"
"Jesus!"
Several intern agents standing by and watching the scene cursed in succession, shocked and standing in place waving their hands helplessly, uncertain whom to persuade to stop the fight. Fisher had more people on his side, but they couldn't beat Luo An.
A few female intern agents were staring at the scene, completely stunned. For some reason, Mona felt her whole body trembling, her face flushing red, as if she'd been electrified.
Luo An let out a cold snort, knocking down the last one, then violently threw the notebook onto Fisher:
"You're all trash, talking about solving cases, a bunch of you can't even beat me alone!"
"Ah—"
The notebook accidentally hit Fisher's groin as Luo An threw it, and another scream ensued.
Maki, legs still split, had a mix of fear and anger in his eyes, and yelled loudly:
"If you dare, don't leave this place! Attacking an agent within the FBI is a felony!"
"I'm not running away! Who says I'm attacking an agent? The surveillance is watching; a bunch of you want to gang up on me, this is self-defense!"
Luo An casually pulled over a chair from the conference table, sat down, crossed his legs, and chuckled:
"Plus, I suspect you guys harbor ill intentions towards me. When the senior agent arrives, I'm going to accuse you all of first-degree murder!"
"FU-K!"
Hearing the charge of first-degree murder, which is a serious crime, everyone still standing changed their expressions, surprised that Luo An would take this incident so seriously.
Mona, however, didn't care about Luo An's words. Her face grew redder... then she seemed to think of something, shivered violently, and her expression instantly sobered.
...
In the office with the large screen, the air was incredibly still.
Seeing Luo An, who was sitting on a chair waiting for the investigators in the surveillance, the expressions of the five investigative team leaders varied.
The second and third team leaders didn't seem too bothered beyond being surprised at Luo An's exceptional skills.
However, upon hearing Luo An's threat to charge the intern agents with first-degree murder, the laughter of the fifth team leader, Augustus, rang out while the face of the first team leader, Broson, turned ashen.
"Hahaha!"
Augustus couldn't stop laughing, almost out of breath:
"Not bad, I indeed didn't make the wrong choice!"
Seeing Luo An's action of observing the camera earlier in the conference room, Augustus thought that Luo An must have guessed that there would be team leaders observing them after the meeting, and therefore chose to act out violently.
However, during the fight, apart from throwing the notebook at the end, all of Luo An's actions were in self-defense. If the matter really went to court, excluding external factors, Luo An had a much better chance of winning than Fisher and Maki.
Augustus's laughter slowly faded as he looked at Luo An with an extremely fervent gaze:
"I like this kid. Handsome, smart, and skilled, he reminds me of my younger days!"
The second, third, and fourth team leaders glanced at Augustus's dark face and big belly, then looked at Luo An in the surveillance, sitting there as handsome and well-built as a model, and they all inwardly sneered.
"Hey, Broson."
Augustus turned towards the ashen-faced first team leader, chuckled, and said:
"Do me a favor, let this go. The fifth investigative team was just established, and I just happen to need someone like Luo An, skilled and smart."
"No way."
"I'll treat you to drinks tonight."
"No way."
"Huh?"
Augustus raised an eyebrow and, pointing at Fisher in the camera footage who was still clutching his groin and howling, said:
"Then I'll go find the team leader. I want to ask why only Luo An's points were deducted when the trio failed their previous mission."
"...Fu-k!"
Broson snorted coldly, slammed the table with force, and strode out of the room.
"Good boy."
Augustus chuckled, picked up Luo An Greenwood's file, and also left the office.
Team leaders of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th investigation teams exchanged gazes, shook their heads, and also turned to leave.
...
Training Department, Interrogation Room.
"Hey, kid, you're pretty tough."
Senior agent Old York from the Training Department walked into the room, plopped down on the chair, and started smoking:
"Want one?"
"No, thanks."
Luo An, sitting in the chair with his legs crossed, declined, "I don't smoke."
"Good Boy."
Old York nodded, put away his lighter, took a satisfying drag, exhaled the smoke, and started to size Luo An up seriously. He chuckled after a few clicks of his tongue and said:
"You know, Luo An, you're now completely famous. Everyone on the 23rd and 24th floors of the FBI New York Division knows about an impressive New Intern Agent who fought ten alone, not only won but also came out without a scratch."
"It's not that I'm strong, it's that those people were too weak."
Hearing Luo An's words, Old York became even more pleased. Americans like winners, and this Texan redneck was no exception. He immediately asked:
"Aren't you worried?"
Luo An puzzled: "Worried about what?"
"Fighting among agents is a serious offense. Aren't you worried about being suspended or fired?"
Old York tried to scare Luo An.
"I was acting in self-defense."
Luo An widened his eyes, full of sincerity:
"There are cameras in the conference room. The whole process of me being attacked was recorded. You can't frame me."
"Hahaha! Honestly, I like you, kid. If someone hadn't beaten me to it, I would have definitely transferred you to my team."
Old York let out a cloud of smoke and laughed heartily, standing up to open the door of the interrogation room:
"Let's go, kid, someone's here to pick you up."
"Thank you, boss."
Luo An politely got up and left the interrogation room, finding Mona waiting for him outside.
Mona stepped forward and handed the golden FBI badge to Luo An, teasing with a smile:
"Wow, isn't this our super agent Luo An Greenwood who fought against ten? How was it, was the interrogation room's air conditioning pleasant?"
"Actually, it's not bad. At least it doesn't smell of Fisher and Maki's bad breath and body odor."
Luo An took the FBI badge, pinned it on his chest, tilted his head to look at Mona, and asked with a smile:
"So it seems you've agreed to join my team."
"No choice, Fisher and those guys have gone to the hospital for an examination. They probably won't have the face to come back anytime soon."
Mona shrugged her shoulders and walked with Luo An towards the elevator. As the elevator doors slowly closed, Luo An extended his hand to Mona, smiling:
"Then, here's to a pleasant collaboration."
"A pleasant collaboration. Oh, and if we solve the case successfully, the reward is split equally between the two of us."
"Of course, as we agreed."
