Walking through the forest with a ouch that had forty gold coins felt good. But it would feel even better going to a large city to make more. Daydreaming of becoming rich and living in country mansion was going through my head when I heard footsteps approaching. I looked to my right and saw five large wolves rushing towards me.
"Are kidding me or something. Gods why do you do this to me." I said taking a sprint out of there.
The trees became a blur as I was focused only on survival. However the wolves were catching up quickly. I made a large turn and just barley dodged a tree I hadn't noticed. The feeling of something right behind me came up and I jumped to my catching the glimpse of a wolf jumping at were I was. But I didn't have time as two more came up at me.
Without thinking and only on impulse I threw arm out extending it letting my fingers droop at the end. Streaks of dark almost liquid shadow shot from behind me putting holes into the two wolves.
"What the F**K was that." I almost yelled getting up and running again.
I had never done anything like that before. I had only ever done little parlor tricks, but never anything combat related. Trust me I had tried plenty of times but could never every get anything to take form. The worst part about my little invisible trick was I couldn't cover my entire self yet. And even if I did the wolves would still smell me.
"You angered the god of justice my son, but if you survive this then they will have to gift you in return." The whisper of someone very wise carried by the wind seeming to come from no where yet everywhere.
If the gods where the ones who brought this onto me then they must of a vigilante eye on the hero's after all. The trees seemed to get thicker and the woods darker. Not only was I not certain where I was anymore after running for about twenty minutes at top speed. But the sun was starting to drop and I had three more wolves still chasing me. Finally the trees got to thick for my to weave around easily and I turned around. The three wolves running low to the ground where coming right at me. And for the first time I saw their levels. They where each level fifteen.
"How are they even level fifteen. The highest wolf I have ever seen I heard of from the hero's was a thirteen." I said my self thinking how the average wolf was level five to ten.
"Well if I'm going to die might as well try to die fighting." I said to myself as the sun finally dropped and the moon took its place.
The shadows leapt towards me as I extended my arm. This time the wolves had time to dodge it. But where do they go to after dodging. The trees were about five feet apart here and they tried to dodge it but slammed into trees. Two of them had holes through their entire body as one of them just barley got behind a tree. I didn't know it but the shadows around me were creating a dark visible aura around me. The wolf wasn't sure what to do but it's healing abilities seemed far greater. It had three cuts on it with blood seeping from them as they visibly healed as the skin and fur reattached itself.
But it was useless at this rate. The strong survive and the weak die. They thought I would be easy pickings well not anymore. With the swing of my arm in slight anger and mostly excitement came a crackling BOOM!!! A thin black scythe like blade went from where my arm swung to were my arm stopped and went flying through the air with eye blinding speed. It cut the tree and the wolf but went even further cutting another sixty trees making a small glen in the middle of this forest. The wolf was cutting straight through like butter. It was so quick and smooth the blood wasn't even leaking like there was a invisible wall there.
The wolves turned into pixels drifting into the air as their fur and meat laid on the ground. A blinding light small, yet great appear before me on the ground and faded slowly. After it was gone a sword pitch black with the look of a cutlass but with a small intricate hole at the bottom. The handle was cover in some sort of black leathery scales with a small bit of silver representing a half moon right above the handle. The hole itself I saw now after picking up was the size of a pinky very small.
"This one time I will grant you this. But remember that if you try something like that again you will lose my favor." A peaceful female voice entered my mind and then left leaving the words float around.
"Justice isn't always fair so why should I be." I thought to myself looking around.
A blue box suddenly appeared showing the stats of the weapon. This never happens before I thought to myself. But at the same time I could already see the hero's levels.
The had amazing stats. The durability was ten thousand with a normal sword being only about two hundred. It was also very light almost like a feather but had just enough weight to know were it was going. It had a attack power of, Wait this can't be right. I was reading it had a attack power of a hundred and twenty. That wasn't just great but astonishing. A good sword could do about thirty. A sword made by a master weapon maker could reach up to eighty it was said. It seemed in every form and way this was a weapon by the gods.
I looked around in the new glen I had made and thought about what I was. This power wasn't normal for people like me. Let alone so few other people can even use shadow magic other than the hero's who practiced it. But this was a whole other level of things. And why could I see levels and all of a sudden stats of weapons. I pondered what was going to happen with me but went back home for the night getting my sense of direction following the tracks me and the wolves made.
