Chapter 3 - Betrayed by Trust

I walked into the town as people where were drinking from a good days work. The village had hired the hero's to take care of the goblin camps not to far away. They had returned three days later and had finished what would have taken the knights a good week. So this along with finally making good profits from the fields everyone seemed in a good mood from what I could see..

But then they looked out at me and seemed a mixture of sadness and anger. Then a few of the villagers came from the shadows of the buildings and houses. Some of them held small hammers and a few even some old rusted swords passed down through their family. Then three individuals walked from the large tavern all wearing pleased looks.

"You should know better than to still kid especially from us." The lead man with the short sword said.

"There's no way out you know. Drop everything and we might let you leave with a good beating." The man with the war hammer said letting all his strength show.

"You can't be serious. Come you guys why are you listening to those three. We're practically family." I said looking around me at the faces I had known since I was a child. But no one said anything.

"Your kidding right. So what if someone took a little of their money. They already don't have to worry about making any. Heck even if they die they just come back to life after a week. I get their strong but why are you listening to them." I said starting to get worried as they looked at the ground.

"Don't make this to hard for yourself kid." One of the older men said as everyone backed away creating a large circle in the town square. The torches from the walls gave off plenty of light as the moon did as well from above.

The man wearing heavy armor held his war hammer and walked towards me.

"If you think I will die without bringing you with me, your wrong." I said pulling the sword from its hidden scabbard tangled in with my cloak.

As the sword became fully seen the moonlight casted a white glow on it. The man stopped as he saw it. But he stopped because of its stats.

"Nice sword but don't think you can still win." The man said raising his war hammer.

In the blink of a eye a pool of shadows form around me. Before them and hit me a black liquid like shield created a rotating ball of shadows. He was thrown backwards by it as it exploded outwards and he slammed onto the ground. At this rate I was starting to grow hatred towards everyone. The towns people started backing away but my anger blinded me.

"So you would betray me. Act like everything was normal and then try to get me killed. Well what will you do know." I said in rage as a cynical life came from me.

All my friends since childhood had betrayed me. The people I had called family for so long gave up on me without even trying. The towns leader didn't do anything to try and save me. With that I looked at the three hero's in anger and thought of crushing them into dust. I thought of their bodies lifeless on the ground.

With that three arrows with speed and accuracy came flying towards me. I swung my sword blocking all three as they cut into different pieces. I didn't know where my power came from but I didn't care if it came from the lord of hell himself. With each step a inky shadow grew in size around me as more arrows were simply blocked or knocked away by the shadows orbs and tentacles.

They started taking me more seriously as the man with his short sword ran towards me. I was certain if not for the fact I was in this stat he would have been like a blur. But instead he moved at a normal speed. When our swords came into contact I could feel my strength was far greater than his. It seemed he had focused mainly on speed but I was rounded out in everything. He was swinging hard with his sword and tried to push me back. But I simply held my sword with one arm extended completely holding him at bay.

A white arrow of light flew towards me with its heavenly glow. It cut through the shadows like a knife through better. I had to take a step to the side to dodge the incoming arrow allowing the man with his sword to tumble forward a little to much as I swung cleanly through his back as his body fell in two. A small glow pixels formed in him as he himself turned to pixels.

I turn to see the two looking at me frightened when a small box appears before my eyes and time seems to freeze.

This spell will allow to convert someone to your side. A small piece of shadow crystal is fired into their skin causing great pain. They will slowly turn into shadow minions turning a dull grey. This spell can be blocked by light magic of a high degree. This is a spell gifted to you by the three gods of the realms. Can only be used once a day. They cannot disobey any command and will become a lifeless vessel of sorts.

After I read the screen it vanished and time started again. Whatever was happening the gods seemed to be helping me in a way. But I didn't want them under my command but would rather kill them and send them back to start considering how they might just die and leave something else in their place I would save it for something else. They seemed scared like lost house cats. I knew they couldn't leave this world while in combat.

"Enjoy starting over unlike most people." I say and throw my hand out as a large crackling and then like a loud boom of lighting tendrils of inky shadows skeined over the floor and walls of buildings before suddenly turning and becoming solid with hundreds of thin blades going through them. After a few seconds they died and turned to pixels.
