Chapter 1 - Born to Rule

This is the story of a young man name Erebus created by ai in a game. The hero's or should I say players enter the world in safe places and grow their strength more than other of this world. That is why they are seen as hero's and because the gods say they are. With the hero's having many lives they can renter the world while of the people of the world die they stay dead.

So what happens when a young man that was born by the shadows themselves and grew up this world all of a sudden has to deal with the hero's who are many rude and strong. While the guards and soldiers are stronger for know the hero's/players grow quickly using a system called levels. It is thought of a way to see ones strength but we the inhabitants do not have such ways unless use magic stone tablets.

Can the young man who's origins are thought of as mysterious to others grow and survive as the hero's hunt him down. Can he learn his true strength and the world he lives in. Will he make make allies with some players while creating a army to destroy them. But will he learn why the things are the way they are in his world. Can he learn to use his power that he can do more damage to a mountain range if he only tried.

The tree I sat under today casted a wonderful shadow keeping me cool in the nice days weather. I raised my hand and let my palm face upward in lazy kind of manor. After a few seconds a dark swirling ball made of shadows started to form from streaks of darkness coming from the ground. When I touched it felt cool and smooth like well made glass. I let it run over my arm feeling the coldness from it as it seeps back into the ground from my finger tips. I looked out over the wheat and watermelon fields and saw everyone hard at work as three individuals wearing well made armor walked into town.

The hero's have returned from their quest as well being paid before leaving. I started my way up the dirt paths back into town to see what needed done in hopes for payment. When I enter I saw the towns leader paying the three hero's with a plump bag of coins. Even though they were hero's who's to say they could be trusted. Better yet what stops from a friendly robbery.

I watched them leave down taking the main road and followed from far behind. When they started looking over their heads and saw me I tried to act normal and continue to follow. But they started to slow down. Damn their either smart or have some really bad stamina. If I slowed down they would know I was trying to follow them. But if I got off the road and into the forest they would think something was up. As such I just kept walking forwards building shadows behind from my back so they could not see it.

"So any reason your coming along with us." Asked the white heavy armored man with a war hammer on his back.

"What I'm just traveling." I replied back.

"Well if something goes wrong don't expect us to protect you." The lady with a bow said to me giggling a little.

"Why would I need protection. Your only level twenty one lady and your friend here is only twenty three." I said calmly.

I possessed the one thing many others did not and that was the ability to see something level. Hero's were said to be the only ones able to do it but they could also see ones stats if they weren't too higher a level than them. The truth however was that I was a level twenty. The reason being was that I was born a level ten but each time I used my magic I grew stronger. They stopped after taking a few more steps and looked at me with curiosity.

"And how do you know that." The one with a short sword and little armor asked.

"Well it's floating right above your heads saying so." I replied.

"Are you are ###### hero." The man with heavy armor asked.

"No sir I am no hero." I replied. It felt like he tried to say something else but his words changed.

"Interesting indeed. Who are." The man with the short sword asked.

"Well let's see I'm the person who thinks your not really who you say you are. I think your normal people with something different that you know and we don't." I replied.

After I said this I continued to walk forward and into the forest ahead as they watched.

30 minutes later with the hero's.

"That sure was strange. A npc who could see our levels." The woman said.

"I know. But did you guys see his level, it was twenty and only guards and soldiers have a level like that." Said the big man with a hammer.

"Ya, do you remember when we were scared to make any mistakes and now if it come to we simple kill or run." Said the lady.

"You guys." The man with the short sword said.

"What Jackson." They both said at the same time.

Jackson pulled the small bag with coins and and turned it over. A pile of rocks could be heard falling from the bag instead of the nice clinking of coins.

Back to Erebus.

"Those fulls didn't see a thing." I said laughing uncontrollably walking through the trees.

"By now their probably at the bridge and just noticed." I said still unable to stop laughing and sat down next to a tree.

I had used the shadows to cover my arm in a strange way making it invisible in ones own shadow. So when I walked ahead a little I simply moved my hand quickly and smooth grabbing the coins while leaving a bag of rocks so they didn't notice the weight was off. Those fools never thought of getting robbed so easily I bet.
