Chapter 6 - Evil of a man

Milo...

When the whole village was trying to defend itself against the bandits, this bastard backstabbed Rohan's father.

But why did the villagers let him go?

Are they really such good people that they would just let someone who almost became the reason for their annihilation go without punishing him?

'If they are, then such a village is bound to be damned.'

Rohan is not from this world. He has come from the world of information technology and has read tons of articles where people have died for being excessively good. Being kind is one thing, but kindness to snakes is just asking to die.

But...

Looking at Agnes, it does not look like he wants to let Milo go. Then just what is going on here?

"Milo, that bastard... we can't do anything to him," Agnes says angrily.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Because he didn't just backstab us. It was him who got the bandits into the village. And... and to please the bandit leader. That son of a bitch sold his sister to the bandit leader in exchange for their protection."

By this point, Agnes was so angry that if he talked more, he might as well just go out and kill Milo right now.

I did not know what to say.

'So, there are scums like this no matter what the world,' I mutter to myself.

I did not think it would be good to talk more about this matter, so I kindly left Agnes' hut.

'Now what do I do?'

There was some time before the sun set, so I went around the village to take a look.

This village is called the Misty Village. The villagers say it is almost always covered with mist. At least, that's what I heard. But as I look around myself, there is no hint of mist in the surroundings. And to think it is currently the winter season with all the heat in the area.

I go to the pond and fill the pot I had brought with me with water. This is where all the villagers get their water from.

'Sigh, I guess this is life now. Drinking water without filtering it. Will I get a disease if I drink it?'

As I was about to go back to my hut, I saw the foxlike man, Milo, going out of the village.

What is that bastard up to now?

I put my pot on the side of a hut as I start following Milo. 'Nobody should steal my pot, right?'

I shake my head rapidly. 'Again, that's not the point.'

This guy is really cunning. He is always worried about someone finding him and keeps looking around. But how could I, Detective Rohan, be caught so easily? Especially when I don't dare get anywhere near him?

'Yes, I am afraid this guy is going to meet the bandits. And what if the bandits find me? I can't just tell them I was playing hide and seek, can I? Wait, can I?'

Anyway...

Milo moves away from the village and goes to the area that is on the opposite side of the forest.

There is a small hill ahead on the path.

"So that's where the bandits live," I muttered as I saw a few bandits hanging around in the area.

"So, this bastard is a lackey of the bandits."

Milo goes to the guy who was the leader of the bandits who came to the village to ask for protection fees and talks to him before both of them go inside the leader's den.

"How do I know what they are talking about?"

I wait for some time before Milo walks out of the den with a sly smile on his face. "That guy is so ugly, especially when I think just how handsome I currently am. Cough."

I wait for Milo to pass by me before following him back to the village.

"Thank God nobody stole my pot..."
