Chapter 5 - Chapter 5-Alexis

2 MONTHS LATER

Two months down and I still hadn't talked to Kasey King.

Two months down and she hadn't contacted me.

Two months of trying to call her with no response.

My leave was long over but I had a day off. More like a requested day off. I was feeling sick most days. Throwing up, dizziness and I had been picking on what I ate. Sophie asked me to request a day off from Vicky. Kinda ironic how we all worked together.

She had told me she would come over as soon as she could during the day. First thing I did when I woke up as you can guess, I threw up. I showered soon after and got into an oversized shirt. I made my way to the kitchen to at least get some water in my system.

Breakfast? No. Eggs? I gagged at. Or anything that had eggs in it. I grabbed a water bottle and chugged away. I stopped drinking alcohol right after I fell sick. Which roughly was a month prior. I was afraid of checking up. I was mostly afraid of the possibility of it being cancer. I couldn't face that reality.

I laid my head on the counter for while deeply thinking about what was making me sick. At that time, Sophie was unlocking my door and inviting herself in. Curse giving her an extra key. "Hey bubble." She said walking in and closing the door. "Hi. Kill me." I pleaded, feeling dizzy. "Poor thing." She whispered as she helped me to the couch.

"When was your last period?" She asked soon after she threw me on the couch. "What?" I asked as I placed my hand on my forehead. "When was your last period?" She asked slower, breaking the question up. "I don't know. What does that have to do with anything?" I asked, confused. But it was something to think about.

I was supposed to get my period around the same time I fell sick. "I bought a bunch of pregnancy tests." She said taking them out of her bag. "Why?" I asked, squinting my eyes at her. "For you to take them." She said. "Again, why?" I asked. "You have pregnancy symptoms. Plus it's been ages since your last period. Take the test." She said pushing one to me.

"Uhm, Sophie? I'm gay. I don't sleep with men." I reminded her and she sighed. "Shit happens." She said still holding the test in front of my face. "I'm pretty sure I would never sleep with a man even if I were drunk." I told her and she sighed. "Take the test so we can rule pregnancy out of the list of things that are possibly making you sick." She said, jabbing my boob with the test. There was a list?

"Fuck. Okay. I'll take it." I said, taking the test from her and rubbing my boob. I wasn't pregnant, I couldn't be. I mean I hadn't slept with any guy. The last person l slept with was my supposed wife. I was pretty sure she didn't have a penis. I'd know, I saw her naked body the next morning.

I got to the bathroom and peed on the stick. More like I waited for it to come. After it did I placed the stick on the counter and flushed. "I'm done peeing on the stick." I yelled through the door and Sophie barged in. "We have to wait for like 5 minutes." She said looking at the test intently. "Gee thanks for the privacy." I mumbled.

"Yeah yeah yeah. I know the diameter of your nipples. You don't need privacy from me." She said biting at her thumb still staring at the test. I couldn't help but cover my breasts after she said that because what the fuck?

"How about we step out?" I suggested and she looked at me. "We'll come back after five minutes." I said. I doubted I was pregnant so really she didn't need to be so hell bent on proving it. "Okay. Okay. Pee on another one first." She said holding it in front of my face. "You'll need to get out for that." I said taking it, no longer fighting with her about the pregnancy thing.

She walked out and I yet again tried to pee on a stick until it came. I placed the second test next to the first, not really bothering to check the first one and I flushed and washed.

"First one should be ready. Open up." She said, knocking. I rolled my eyes and opened up for her. She rushed past me to get to the first test. She looked it at for a while before she turned to me slowly. "What?" I asked. "We should wait for the second one." She said and I sighed.

"This is getting ridiculous." I pouted out a breathe. We stood there facing each other as she kept her eyes on her watch. Moments passed in silence before she grabbed the second one before turning to me. "It's ready." She said, examined it. "What do they say?" I asked, getting a bit anxious.
