Coming out of my memories, I stand up while taking up my newly forged sword, giving it a look over. "I shall name you 'Blood Debt' for all those who face me shall pay in nothing but their blood." Placing the sword into the sheath I made for it, I returned home in time to make it for dinner.
"Ace, where have you been all day? We were looking for you to help us train" As I stepped through the doorway, I heard the voice of my younger brother Klaus coming from the table as he got up to walk towards me.
"You know we are about to go to war, Klaus; I must prepare best I can, the only reason it has not started yet is because of the distance and the difficulty it has taken them to pinpoint our exact location, but that isn't going to last as they get closer to us by the day," I said while sitting at the table and pouring myself some water.
"Do you have to go to war, though, brother? Can't Father and the rest of the men handle it?" Kol asked with worry on his face.
"What do two boys who haven't even been able to kill a rabbit know about the affairs of men" At this moment, Mikael came into the room with that stern scowl he always has as he scolded the two boys. "Unlike the two of you, your older brothers have proven themselves in battle, and that one there has done so to the point where there is not a man in the village that would dare raise a blade against him," he said, staring both of them in the eyes causing them to lower the heads.
"Tch" Seeing them lower their heads, he liked his tongue and looked up at me. "Get your stuff, boy, the enemy has set up camp nearby, and we plan to strike them first before they find the village," leaving that sentence, he gave one last scowl at Klaus and Kol, then went through the doorway.
"Alright, boys, you heard Father; I have to go, so behave and listen to Mother; I shall go see Rebekah first since she will throw a tantrum if I leave without seeing her," I tell them before I get up and make my way to Bekahs room.
Entering the room, I found Rebekah on the floor, playing with some wooden carvings that Klaus had made for her. Hearing me enter, she looked up, and when she recognized it was me, she got up and planted her face into my stomach while she hugged me tightly. "Hey there, Bekah, I just came to see you before I go with Father, Finn, and Elijah to battle, "I told her, lowering myself to hug her back.
"Brother, do you have to go? What if you get hurt? Cant you stay here with us?" she says while holding on to me tighter as I can hear her about to cry.
"I'm sorry, Bekah, but I have to, and Father would never let me stay, or he would see it as a cowardly act and kill me himself for embarrassing him," I said while brushing her hair with my hands to calm her down. "do not worry, your big brother is the strongest and will not get hurt, believe in me, okay?" asking that last bit while holding her cheeks with both hands and wiping away her tears.
She only gave me a light nod, and I pulled her back into a hug again before standing up and ruffling her hair. "I'm off, Bekah; I do not know how long the war will last, so keep your brothers out of trouble and help them take care of little Henrik," I said, turning around and walking out of the room to make my way to meet up with the rest of the men to get ready to move out.
A few moments later, I arrived at the meeting place where the rest of the men were preparing their things and started to get mine in order as well. "well, well, if it isn't our devil of a brother," I turned to see Elijah and Finn coming over. Both grew a lot over the years, with longer hair, scruffy bears and more muscular appearances.
I walked over to meet them as we hugged each other "If it isn't my two dear older brothers, are you two ready for this war? It will be long and treacherous, given that we must fight here and then travel to their settlement to fight again and eliminate the threat."
"I would be lying if I said I was, but it is inevitable at this point, is it not" Finn replied while letting out a sigh
"That is true, and if we don't fight now, then the next time they might show up at our doorstep, and then the whole village will be in danger," Elijah added.
"That's right, so let's make sure that these rats don't stay alive long enough to cause us that rouble, shall we," I said while walking over and mounting my horse. "let's go; we have the battle to win, YA," I said while urging my horse to head off with the other warriors that were leaving.
Approximately 2 hours later, we arrived in a clearing where we could see the enemy camp in the distance. "Alright, men, this is the first battle in a long period of them that we will have to fight to win this war; fight with everything you have, and for those of us that may not make it, we shall see each other in Valhalla" the village chief came to the front and said in an inspirational tone as he unsheathed his sword and sounded the war horn.
With that, my first official war campaign started...
