Following Sophie's lead, Marie stepped into the pack house, a mixture of excitement and a touch of nervousness coursing through her veins. The grandeur of the mansion's interior was just as impressive as its exterior, with intricate designs and decorative elements that spoke of a rich history.
Sophie's presence was reassuring, her warm smile and confident demeanor helping to ease Marie's nerves. As they walked through the hallways, Marie's gaze shifted from one intricate detail to another, taking in the beauty of the architecture and the connection it held to the pack's traditions.
Blake caught up with the two women and draped his arm over Marie. He leant down and whispered into her ear "I am sorry about my mum, she can be a bit full on"
"Don't be silly" Marie replied "Your mum is amazing You are very lucky to have one" Marie's gaze fell as sadness suddenly pulled at heart. Blake tipped his head to the side. There was so much about Marie that he did not know.
Marie turned her attention back to Sophie who was discussing the history of the pack house when suddenly she felt the hum of the pack house quiet and all eyes fall upon her. quickly her anxieties began to rise in her chest. Blake stepped in protectively and pulled her closer into his side.
"Get back to work" Sophie shouted with her Luna authority before Blake or Steve could step in. Sophie turned to Marie and saw her retreating into Blakes side. "oh my dear, don't be scared. It is only natural for people to stare when such a beauty enters the room, But but don't worry you will get used to it" Sophie said with a wink as he pulled Sophie out of Blakes side and encouraged her to stand up tall.
"Mum I think it is best if Marie and I head to our room to freshen up and rest prior to dinner" Blake placed his hand on the small of Marie's back and guided her up the grand staircase which has the most intricate carvings on the banister spindles.
"Of course my boy but may I have a private word with you first" Sophie stopped Blake in his tracks.
"Of course mum" Blake turned to Steve "Steve please show Marie to my room" Steve nodded his head and start to guide Marie" up the stairs. Marie and Blake gazed at each other for a moment longer before Blake pulled himself away.
Blake stepped into his mother's office and he threw himself down into one of the leather chairs and ran his hands over his face and through his hair as he prepared for whatever it was his mother wanted to say.
"She is lovely Blake. I am happy you have found your mate" Sophie said softly as she sat in the seat next to him
"But?" Blake raised his eyes to look at his mother.
"There is no but Blake. She truly does seem wonderful. Although I am intrigued about her past" Sophie said sounded curious.
"So am I mother, I know very little, but from what I know her life up until now has not been easy"
"She is your mate, your strength and the strength of this pack will help her, but you are going to have to announce her as your mate.....tonight otherwise the staring and whispering will not stop. That will not help her anxieties"
Blake knew his mum was right but he was internally worried about how Marie would feel at this announcement being tonight. Sophie could see the worry on his face
"My darling, all will be fine, Now go be with your mate" Blake stood hugged his mother and headed up to his room.
Blake bounded up the staircase 2 at a time wanting to get back to Marie, ,He paused outside his door and his heart warmed as he heard his mate and his best friend laughing. he opened the door "Am I missing out on something fun?" Blake's voice was playful as he spoke up, announcing his arrival.
Both Marie and Steve turned their attention toward him, their laughter fading but their smiles lingering.
"Blake!" Marie's surprise was evident in her tone, her cheeks slightly flushed from the laughter.
Steve chuckled and nodded in greeting. "Hey, man"
Blake stepped fully into the room, his smile warm as he looked at the two of them. Marie's smile was genuine as she met Blake's gaze. "Steve's been keeping me entertained with stories from the pack."
Steve grinned, his tone playful. "Gotta make sure our new queen feels welcome, you know?"
Blake's eyes held a mix of amusement and appreciation as he looked at his friend. "I appreciate that, Steve."
Steve gave a mock salute. "Anytime, buddy. Anyway I will leave you both to it. See you both later at dinner" With that Steve took his leave, leaving Marie and Blake alone for the first time since arriving at the pack house.
Blake walked over and placed a gentle kiss on Marie's lips as he took her hand and guided her over to sitting area where he sat himself down and positioned Marie on his lap. Marie wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her forehead against his. "Your home is beautiful"
"Our home" Blake quickly correcting her. Marie smiled "sorry our home". Blake purred with happiness and so did Jet. The pair sat in silence for a few minutes in each others embrace.
"Marie, there's something I want to discuss with you."
Marie looked at him with curiosity, her expression attentive. "Of course, Blake. What is it?"
Blake took a deep breath, his eyes locking with hers as he spoke. "Tonight, at dinner, I'd like to officially announce you as my mate to the pack."
Marie's eyes widened slightly, her surprise evident. "Announce me as your mate? In front of everyone?"
Blake nodded, his tone sincere. "Yes, Marie. You're not just my mate but now Queen of my pack. That makes you important and I want everyone to know that."
Marie's heart raced at the significance of Blake's words. The idea of being officially introduced as his mate, the queen to the entire pack was overwhelming.
"I understand if you're unsure or nervous," Blake continued, his voice gentle. "But I believe it's an important step for us, for you. It's a way to show that we're united and committed to each other"
"I... I appreciate your intention, Blake," Marie replied, her voice soft but sincere. "It's just that the idea of being in the spotlight like that, of standing in front of everyone and being announced as your mate—it's a bit overwhelming."
Blake reached out, his fingers gently brushing against hers. "I understand, Marie. It's okay to feel nervous. But remember, you won't be alone. I'll be by your side, and the pack is your family now."
Marie's gaze met his, the depth of his understanding and the sincerity of his words touching her heart.
"Earlier when we walked into the pack house and everybody saw you it raised questions within my pack. I want them to know who you are from the outset" Blake continued.
Marie took a deep breath and settled her emotions. "I trust you, Blake," Marie said, her voice steady as she looked at him. "And if you believe this is the right step for us, then I'm willing to give it a try."
A genuine smile spread across Blake's face, his affection for Marie evident in his expression. "Thank you, baby." He picked Marie up in his strong arms and swung her around before kissing her passionately and deeply.
