Chapter 28 - Ch. 28 Graduation is almost here

It had been a few weeks since Camille "unofficially" moved out.

During that time Dean and Camille were busy completing finals. And had they not lived together they probably wouldn't have seen each other much.

This particular day Camille had wanted to go back to the pond they sat at months ago when she was just starting to warm up to him.

The sun shone today, and they had layed out a little blanket and sat under a weeping willow tree.

It seemed that not many people came out here, for everytime Camille and Dean did come, they were the only ones there.

Camille sat against the tree and Dean lay his head in her lap holding the book above him to read.

Camille often thought about how strange it was, the way Dean had come to her, and the part of her life he had approached her in. The fact that he had been so relentless in leaving her alone.

He was probably the only person that hadn't given up on her.

She felt herself loving him more and more everyday, she found the person she'd love for the rest of her life.

Graduation was in two days and on top of studying for the last few weeks they had also did graduation rehearsal and Camille was completing her valedictorian speech.

Dean was not salutatorian, but he was included in an academic excellence. He was fine not being salutatorian. Titles like that were meant for Camille. He hadn't felt comfortable with it back then.

And he was content that she was able to be there at graduation this time. She would give her speech. She would get all the glory.

Dean thought about how fast everything had gone by. Here he was experiencing high school again, but it flew by yet again. He had been so busy trying to save Camille that he hadn't stopped to savor it just a little.

Everyone always says they can't wait until school is over, they can't wait to grow up. But to be an adult is something unfamiliar and terrifying. He wished sometimes that he could go back to being an innocent child.

Camille was downstairs with his mother and his sister watching a drama. Dean hadn't been interested so he kissed her cheek before going upstairs and told her to have fun.

He slowly drifted off to sleep.

It was bright… the room around him seeming as if there were no walls and no floor… Everything was just white.

A voice boomed. " You dear one had set out to save the one you love, and you have accomplished this, do you remember when you said you'd do anything, whatever it takes, no matter the consequence?"

Dean nodded.

"Soon you will be met with an ultimatum, and when the time comes you must choose, be prepared young one."

Dean abruptly sat up in bed. Sweat beaded across his forehead and he was momentarily confused about where he was.

He got up off his bed and stumbled into the bathroom across the hall. He splashed cold water onto his face before looking in the mirror. An Ultimatum? What is that supposed to mean?

Dean shook the uncomfortable thought from his head. He went back downstairs unsure of how long he'd been out.

Apparently he'd been sleeping for almost two hours. He was disoriented. The last time that happened to him was when he first came back. And it seemed like days had passed when in reality it had only been five minutes from his work shift ending.

When he came into the kitchen. Camille and Daniella were were talking and watching a video together while his mother was up in her apron cooking dinner. The house wafted with savory smells and the oven being on made it warm.

Dean sat down on the other side of them table and put his hands over his face.

His mother glanced at him. "Are you okay Sweetie?"

Dean nodded. "Guess I just had a nightmare or something."

"Well are you okay?"

He nodded.

Camille reached across the table for his hand. He glanced up at her.

"Are you okay" she mouthed. He mustered up a smile and nodded.

She looked at him a few seconds with worry traced onto her face before nodding. Dean knew she could tell he wasn't okay, but she didn't want to press further into the matter with his family around.

His mother made chicken Alfredo for dinner. Dean usually ate a lot but he hadn't ate much of his bowl. He put his food into a container and washed out his bowl before telling them.

"I'm a bit tired, I'll see all of y'all tomorrow okay? Goodnight."

Camille watched his back as he went up the stairs. She was worried but she was trying to hide it from his mother and sister. She knew Dean wouldn't want to worry them. She smiled at Daniella and then feigned a yawn.

"I think I'm gonna go to bed too, gotta get all the sleep I can before I go to college and never do again." She joked.

She waved to them both and said "Goodnight" before hurrying upstairs.

Dean was sitting in that seat again watching the moon. He had a sketchbook open and was drawing.

Camille knocked to let him know she was there.

He turned and saw her before smiling.

She sat on the edge of the bed close to him.

"Dean, are you really okay? You didn't seem okay before dinner and you hardly touched your food during dinner."

He nodded. "I'm fine really, I am, it's just nerves. I mean we graduate after tomorrow. I honestly don't even remember what the dream was about." He lied with a smile.

He ruffled her hair to which she protested at. He laughed and then flopped onto his side of the bed. Camille scooted herself back and rested beside him.

"Good night" she yawned.

"Sweet dreams" he replied with a smile as he watched her fall asleep. Once he heard her breathing slow he knew she was out.

Dean felt the anxiety rise back up and he prayed for a night of dreamless sleep.
