"I, I didn't do it! It was Bryan!" Fitch was horrified and loudly protested his innocence.
Pa pa!
Another two slaps, Fitch's cheeks were now swollen. Fanny stared at Fitch in a towering rage as she bit off her words, "How dare you make excuses. Bryan is such an honest man, how could he have done such a foul thing? It must have been you."
Bryan was at a loss for words as he gloated inwardly. He hastily painted a picture of honest, dumb innocence on his face as he looked at Fitch and Fanny. He smiled dully, "What's the matter?"
"Master Fanny, it really wasn't me!" Fitch was suddenly the most wronged man in the world as he clenched his cheeks and protested loudly.
"Stop lying. Get out. Now!" Fanny, wearing an expression of despair that iron wouldn't improve and become steel (Chinese expression for wishing someone would improve), replied heatedly.
Fitch's face was sore and he saw that Fanny was ready to erupt with rage at any moment. He knew that any explanation would be useless, and he was deathly afraid that Fanny would lash out again if he sent her up a wall. He smiled bitterly, nodded, and walked out of the training grounds with a dejected look on his face.
As he passed Bryan, Fitch stopped and glared at Han Shuo viciously for a few moments before gritting his teeth and saying quietly, "Bastard.
Han Shuo pretended to be completely innocent of Fitch's hatred and even smiled at him honestly in a friendly, kind gesture. "Huh? How come you got fat all of a sudden?"
Fitch was furious and turned his face away in resentment after glaring at Han Shuo once more. He quickly bypassed the obstacles in his way and disappeared outside the door in the blink of an eye.
"Bryan, what are you doing here?" Master Fanny's anger subsided as soon as Fitch left and she asked Han Shuo a question.
"Cleaning." Han Shuo went to do his own thing in the corner of the training ground. He picked up a broom and prepared to clean up the area a bit to prepare it for the next round of necromancy students.
"Oh, I see. Oh, right, how's your back? When your injuries have healed, I'd like to take a closer look at what's going on with you. It's incredible that an Agony of the Soul could allow you to gain mental strength." Fanny was quite friendly in front of Han Shuo, talking to him peacefully and helping him clear the obstacles on the floor without any haughty attitude.
"Much, much better. Oh, right, Master Fanny, can you not tell the school authorities what happened last night?" Han Shuo absentmindedly swept up the broken bones and dust and sniffed at the right hand that had touched Fanny's bottom when he had a moment.
A faint, delicate scent emanated from the fingers of his right hand, making his heart skip a beat. His eyes immediately went strangely to Fanny's bum, which happened to be not too far away. Fanny's back arched slightly as she bent down to clear the obstacles, accentuating the mesmerising curve of her bottom. Was as if it contained a hypnotic power of temptation.
Fanny was slightly startled by Han Shuo's words and quickly straightened her lithe body. She turned to look at Han Shuo and asked in surprise. "Why? Hmm, Bryan, you're not concentrating, you're stepping on the broom."
He hadn't expected Fanny to suddenly turn around. Han Shuo felt guilty and hastily removed his foot from the broom, smiling stupidly afterwards. "Carey and Borg are actually good people. If you tell the school authorities what happened, they'll be fired. Life will be difficult when their families don't have the silver they earned."
Fanny looked at Han Shuo in amazement and slightly arched a delicate eyebrow. After a moment, she smiled and said, "Bryan, you're always so kind. You speak for them even after they've bullied you. All right, I'll forget it, since even you, the victim, are begging for it. I won't put you in a difficult position. You are the key to my experiments, remember to tell me if anyone bullies you in the future!
Kind! Han Shuo was at a loss for words. Sure, what he was doing now was 'kind', otherwise he wouldn't have the opportunity to blackmail Carey and Borg into doing his bidding. If they left, everything would fall on his and Jack's shoulders. Who would care what happened to the latter?
While Han Shuo was thinking his random thoughts, Fanny looked at Han Shuo suspiciously and spoke again. "Bryan, I don't think you're that crazy. How else could you say what you've just said?"
Momentarily stunned, Han Shuo's heart skipped a beat. He hastily scratched his head and replied with some embarrassment, "Eh, sometimes I feel like my mind is dull and foggy. I don't know what to do afterwards!"
"I see. It looks like there are some negative after-effects of the Agony of the Soul on your body. Hmm, don't worry. I'll take a closer look at you when your back is healed. I'll definitely cure all your strange ailments. It's almost time for me to lead the students in the next round of experiments. I'll go back and get ready. You can clean up the rest!" Fanny chanted an incantation after talking to Han Shuo, sending the zombie warriors in the training ground back to the other dimension, and then left in a whirl.
Soon after Fanny left, Han Shuo left the ruins of the training ground and went to find Carey and Borg as well. He arrogantly dictated to them, "Don't worry, I've already taken care of your business. You two can go and clean up the training ground!"
Carey and Borg were happily surprised and ran off with mops and brooms, overjoyed to mop up behind Han Shuo after showering him with thanks.
Han Shuo had nothing urgent to do after leaving the practice ground. He had become curious about the contents of the jade box after recalling yesterday's events, and was desperate to know what the orb was. There was no way he could ask anyone else, so he decided to go to the Dark Major's library to see if there were any records about the orb.
Each major had its own library within the Babylonian Academy of Magic. The range of topics contained within the books of each library was extremely diverse, and contained all the wisdom and descriptions of the collective knowledge bank of the Major. Generally, the libraries were not open to the public, and there were strict regulations regarding access for students of other majors.
Using Jack's cleaning duties as an excuse, Han Shuo swaggered into the dark main library, brush in hand.
"Bryan, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be cleaning the training ground at this time?" Little Fatty Jack was putting away books and was startled into a soft question when he saw Han Shuo come in with a brush.
"Heh heh, Carey and Borg, those two idiots will be the ones cleaning up the training ground in the future. I'm here on serious business today!" Han Shuo smiled and picked up a random book. He glanced at it and put it down after realising that it was a book on the basics of dark magic.
"Carey and Borg are cleaning the training ground for you. How is that possible? Eh, is it because they're afraid of you after the beating you got on the training field yesterday?" Little Fatty Jack had a look of astonishment on his face, but then he remembered Han Shuo's performance yesterday and looked at him with a bit of fear. "Oh right Bryan, what happened to you yesterday? You seemed to be a different person. Even though we're really close, even I was really afraid of you yesterday!"
Han Shuo laughed lightly as he put a hand on Jack's shoulder. "That depends on who. If someone makes life difficult for me, I won't make it easy for him. Heh heh, with our relationship there's no way I'm going to beat you up. Oh, right, Jack, where are the books about magical items in the dark main library?"
"Mm, second shelf in the back. Why do you ask?" Jack pointed behind Han Shuo and asked confusedly.
"Nothing much, help you clean?" Han Shuo smiled and walked over to the bookshelf of magical item references.
"But Bryan, I've already dusted the bookcase!" "Then I'll dust it again for you!"
When he reached the bookcase in question, Han Shuo started from the last row and began to leaf through a book, carelessly tossing his brush aside.
When he had observed the jade box last night, Han Shuo's mental energy had curiously flowed to the ball inside. This allowed him to vaguely sense the magical currents within the orb. The Han Shuo of today wasn't a complete novice when it came to magical knowledge, and he naturally understood that magical currents indicated that the orb was some kind of magical object. Therefore, he came to the library in search of the orb's origin.
Unfortunately, after going through most of the books on magical items, Han Shuo realised that they only contained simple descriptions of ordinary magical staffs, robes and jewellery. It wasn't what he wanted.
With some dejection and resignation, he cleared the bookshelf, no longer hoping for answers here. Then he moved on to the bookshelves containing books on necromancy.
Since he had come to the library, he couldn't leave empty-handed. He should take at least one book back for further study, Han Shuo thought as he began to leaf through the books. The books at the top of the bookshelves dealt with higher level magic, he wouldn't understand them even if he took them home. So he turned his attention to the lower levels.
A book with the title "Description of Dark Creatures" caught his eye. He flipped through a few pages and discovered that it contained some of the details of summoning dark creatures.
Happy at heart, Han Shuo immediately went to find Jack and waved 'The Description of Dark Creatures' at Jack. He chuckled, "Jack, I'll take this book back for further study. Cover for me, don't let other people find out."
He didn't wait for Jack to answer and happily stuffed the book into his clothes, grabbed the brush he'd thrown away earlier and left the library.
