Chapter 27 - Chapter 26: Entering a Demonic Mental State

As Claude approached, Han Shuo grimaced and let out a low moan. He ducked his body and head and reached for his ankle as if to inspect the injury on his ankle.

Next to him, Cal frowned involuntarily when he saw Han Shuo's actions. He supported Han Shuo with one hand and said, "Are you all right? Is your ankle hurt? Let me take a look."

"Nothing much, I just twisted it a bit just now." Han Shuo replied humbly with his head down and his body bent over.

Claude and the other knight students had already arrived. The others had arrived later and did not recognise Han Shuo. There were many who were wounded or crippled, so Han Shuo's appearance didn't attract too much attention.

Claude glanced at Han Shuo and thought nothing of it, walking past Han Shuo as he chatted and laughed with his peers.

Han Shuo's ankle was indeed twisted and swollen. Cal let out a soft gasp when he saw it, "It's so swollen, let me take you home!"

Seeing Claude's footsteps receding, Han Shuo stood up straight and wiggled his ankle, twisting his toes. He smiled at Cal, "I feel much better all of a sudden. Thanks Cal, don't worry about taking me back!"

Han Shuo's pace picked up after he finished speaking and he quickly disappeared around the corner without a trace or another sound.

Cal shook his head, his face completely perplexed as he watched Han Shuo suddenly become hale and hearty. "What a strange person!"

Han Shuo dragged his battered body back to the necromancy major of the magic school as the sky was about to turn dark. Now that his necromancy duties had been taken over by Carey and Borg, Han Shuo didn't have to put in too much effort. Upon his return, he waited for his dinner and went straight to the camp. Immediately after he'd locked the door, he began using the magic yuan to continually rebuild and reforge his body.

There wasn't a single inch of his body that didn't scream in pain. His skin, tendons and bones had all been severely damaged. The magic yuan was circulating through his body again and again according to the principles of magic practice. Han Shuo could feel some of his strength returning from the fiery mass of pain that was his current body each time the Magic Yuan completed a cycle.

The magical yuan kept churning throughout the process, and it seemed to have grown just a little bit larger, bringing a new surprise to Han Shuo. It looked like the time and effort he had put into strengthening his body was also a process of gradual improvement for the magic yuan. He would have to endure this kind of injury in the near future in order to strengthen his body.

The pain in his body eased after midnight, and Han Shuo switched to practising the Mystic Glacial Spellfire. Following the instructions of the Mystic Glacial Spellfire, he circulated the magic yuan in his fingertips and palms.

Time flew as Han Shuo sank into a strange, oblivious state of mind. There were no distractions in his mind, only the perseverance and tenacity to train. He had long since forgotten the pain and injuries in his body and simply continued to circulate his magical yuan according to the method prescribed by the Mystical Glacial Spellfire.

Han Shuo had previously kept a low profile when practising magic. He would wake up at a certain time and had never immersed himself like he had today. Today, Han Shuo had lost himself in it, forgetting the passage of time, forgetting his sense of self, forgetting all mundane distractions.

Bam.

The small door to the warehouse suddenly slammed open, startling Han Shuo from his reverie. He frowned and his eyes shot like cold lightning to Jack's body.

Jack shuddered in fear under Han Shuo's gaze and only exhaled softly when he saw the cold lightning in Han Shuo's eyes fade. "Bryan, so you really were in the warehouse. I thought something had happened to you!"

Han Shuo immediately checked the condition of his body after being startled awake. He suddenly realised that his originally severely injured body had mostly healed, and the magical yuan circulating in his body was slightly stronger than before. His mental strength was also clearer than before.

"What could happen to me? I only slept one day, that's all. Borg and Carey are cleaning for me anyway, there's nothing to do." Han Shuo cracked his stiff neck as creaking noises rang out. When Han Shuo got up from the small wooden bed and stretched his body, all the bones in his body sounded with crisp pa! pa! sounds, leaving Jack dumbfounded where he stood.

After a while, Jack finally reacted in surprise when the strange sounds had disappeared from Han Shuo's body. He called out involuntarily, "Er, Bryan, you haven't slept for a day. You haven't appeared for six days! I knocked on your door for a long time without any response from you, I thought something had happened to you!"

Han Shuo was also astonished by Jack's words. Had he been training for six whole days? He furrowed his brow and then suddenly remembered the mention of 'entering a demonic state of mind' in Chu Cang Lan's memories of demonic magic.

Some practitioners would be able to enter a demonic state by chance. It varied accordingly, and the demonic state of mind was further divided into an aggressive state and a passive state. Some practitioners' minds and dispositions would change drastically upon entering the demon mental state, and they would thirst for blood and murder and feast on it. Their bodies would feel no pain, and both their magical and physical bodies would be greatly enhanced upon entering the demonic mental state. They would not be able to stop even for a second, and would only try to destroy everything and everyone in front of them. This was the aggressive type of demonic mental state.

The other type was what Han Shuo had experienced earlier, when he suddenly entered a demonic mental state during practice. It was a vague, foggy process that was undetectable to the practitioner, but his internal processes and magical yuan circulation would be greatly enhanced compared to typical training conditions. He wouldn't be able to feel his own training level, but he would be able to feel a huge change in his body when he woke up.

The first type of demonic mental state usually occurred after the rational mind was lost due to severe interference. If the practitioner didn't die as a result of the endless killing spurred on by the demonic state, his body's energy would be severely damaged along with other side effects. Han Shuo's peaceful demon state was a much better option. Most people would enter this bizarre mental realm during training, and could feel the increase in their strength when they awoke.

"Oh, that's because I've been a bit tired lately and slept too deeply. Right, what do you need me for?" Han Shuo realised that his stomach felt empty as he spoke and immediately understood that his body was in dire need of food and nourishment after going six days without eating.

Jack pulled out a large piece of bread for Han Shuo as he watched Han Shuo rub his stomach. "I was worried about you and Master Fanny told me to tell you to go to her laboratory. Oh yes, Lisa has also been asking about you. I don't know if she wants to make trouble for you again."

"I see. Hmm. I'll go to Master Fanny first. Let's go!" Han Shuo munched on Jack's bread as he left the warehouse.

It was a good thing that Han Shuo had pushed the little skeleton under the bed during this time. Jack hadn't seen anything wrong when he'd burst in. After relocking the door that Jack had broken through, Han Shuo headed straight for Fanny's lab.

Knock, knock, knock.

Han Shuo stood at the entrance of Fanny's lab and raised his hand to knock.

"Come in!" Fanny's soft and gentle voice sounded from the lab. Han Shuo opened the door and stepped into the lab when he heard it.

Several magic scrolls were placed on the pedestal in the middle of the lab. Mysterious and exquisite magic words and diagrams were tattooed on the scrolls. Even someone who had just set foot in the halls of magic, a novice like Han Shuo, could feel the strong magical currents from the scrolls from afar.

At that moment, Fanny was chanting an incantation as she leaned forward, tracing beautiful lines on the magic scrolls as she dipped a long, elegant nail into the brown magic solution on the side. These delicate lines looked random, but also gave a wondrous sense of extreme harmony.

Fanny finished outlining the scroll after a while, and after reciting an incantation, she injected magic into the scroll. An aura of desolation, loneliness and darkness immediately began to emanate from it, as a brown flash of light flashed across the scroll. It then automatically rolled up.

Once she had stored the finished scroll, Fanny lifted her head and smiled involuntarily. "Oh, it's Bryan. How's your back?"

"Thank you for your concern Master Fanny. The injuries on my back are all healed." Han Shuo nodded and replied.

Han Shuo understood that he couldn't play the fool any longer. Even though it would bring him some benefits, sooner or later, it would only lead to more trouble. Since that was the case, it would be better to slowly change himself and let everyone unknowingly accept his new self. That way, people wouldn't be surprised that he had changed, and would even think that he had suddenly come to his senses after going mad.

The previous owner of this body, Bryan, had suffered greatly in the Necromancy Major. Han Shuo had vowed to take revenge for Bryan when he had climbed out of that grave. Carey, Borg, Bach and Lisa had more or less been taught a lesson, and they had taken quite a bit of revenge for Bryan. Han Shuo remained in the Necromancy Major to lay the groundwork for future plans.

After gaining a better understanding of this world, Han Shuo realised that he would have to become stronger and stronger if he wanted to succeed in this world. The Babylon Academy of Magic and Strength was a place where he could continually improve himself. He stayed here to use the school's resources to further improve all aspects of himself, including strength, knowledge, and a full understanding of this world.

That's why Han Shuo knew that he couldn't go on being crazy and had to change himself bit by bit.

"Oh, that's wonderful. We're about to go on a field trip and take the students to the outside world. They are going to test themselves in the development of their magic. Come with us! You can pick them up and I can get a good idea of your physical condition on the way. What do you say, Bryan?" Fanny put down the items she was holding and smiled at Han Shuo.

Han Shuo stood motionless, thought for a moment and felt that this was an opportunity. He nodded involuntarily, "Sure!"
