Edgar didn't seem to be surprised by his new environment.
Edgar was hellbent to kill Precious when he was still in his house. His demon was in full control and was so fiery at the reality of Precious having little power to weaken Edgar.
And anything that would make Edgar of no use to him should be eliminated.
That's why he didn't hesitate to damage Precious even more after she fell unconscious.
Edgar's demon aimed to destroy her beyond repair or treatment but Morgan interfered even though he believed that he had destroyed her completely.
And as though Morgan knew a place that could calm Edgar's spirit down, she was sent to another realm that was full of darkness and all that happened in this realm was Edgar falling.
While falling, Edgar's demon began to fade away, making him receive his senses back but he remembered everything that happened and how Precious was treated.
