Chapter 43 - Chapter Forty-Two: The Origin of Earth

*Clash*

Sylvia rushed into open combat with the holder of the origin of earth.

She was like a frenzied beast; she didn't hesitate in her attacks, and each swing of her sword focused on killing. Her long white hair flowed in the rush of combat, and her golden eyes were noticeably shining.

"What the hell is wrong with this girl?" Asher said.

"Don't worry about it; now get in there and help her out while I prepare." Violet said.

"Fine..."

Asher was not happy about being forced into this fight. However, in this fight, there weren't any openings for him to join in. Sylvia was relentlessly attacking, and he was scared she would hit him in her reckless swings.

"Hm, maybe if I..."

Asher soon vanished into the woods. He was waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Violet, meanwhile, brought out a small dagger and cut open her arm. However, instead of blood, there was fire leaking out of her arm, but not just any fire; instead, it was a darker red, the color of blood.

"Dammit Violet, you're using that this early!" Asher said still hiding from Gerard.

Sylvia saw what Violet was doing and clicked her tongue as she jumped in retreat.

As the origin user saw what was happening, he tried to escape, except Asher snuck behind him and jabbed his sword into his side, piercing him open.

Asher then also retreated, along with Sylvia.

Soon, the flames coming out of Violet's arm grew larger and larger as they consumed the forest around them.

The Earth Origin user tried to escape but couldn't get out in time due to his wound.

Violet unleashed her flames in the direction of the user.

"AAAAHHHH!"

The user yelled out as parts of his body were burned by Violet's fire before he could escape.

The forest was now a hellscape, with blood-red flames consuming everything in sight.

"Did you get him?" Asher asked.

"I hope not; I want to keep fighting him." Sylvia said.

However, to answer Asher's question, the man was seen by Violet jumping into a small river while trying to run.

"There's no escaping from me!" Sylvia yelled out as she jumped into the same river.

Once again, in combat, Sylvia was relentless.

Asher and Violet could see the man slowing down as the fight continued.

"How long before Sylvia uses it?" Asher asked Violet.

"Soon."

Sylvia's attack speed kept increasing and kept driving the user back.

She kept using her own greatsword to push him back.

Sylvia's attacks kept increasing in both speed and power as soon as cracks formed on the ground as she kept getting momentum.

The man couldn't keep up and tried to defend himself until

*Smash*

The man's greatsword shattered into pieces as Sylvia's sword went right through it and dug into the man's shoulder before he retreated as fast as he could.

"Hey, old man," Sylvia said, looking at the man. "What's your name?"

"Does it matter?" the man said.

"You've earned my respect; not many could last as long as you when I use my ability." Sylvia said.

"Gerard." The man introduced himself.

"Well, Gerard, my name is Sylvia Pierson, and it brings me honor to be the one to kill you!" Sylvia said as she continued her attack.

However...

*Rumble Rumble Rumble*

Soon the entire ground started to shake, knocking Sylvia off balance.

"I'm not going down that easy!" Gerard yelled out.

His eyes were now glowing green.

"Shit, he's activated his origin!" Asher yelled out.

"Sylvia, retreat; we need to strategize!" Violet ordered.

"Fine..." Sylvia said reluctantly.

Soon Gerard was surrounded by a barrier of stone guarding him, while vines from the nearby trees were used to attack the three.

"Okay, Sylvia, Asher, you take care of that stone shield he's created. I'll deal with the vines." Violet said.

"Alright, Let's do this!" Sylvia yelled out.

Sylvia and Asher charged the stone while the vines attempted to stop them; however, Violet cut her other arm and used more of her blood-red veins to burn them up.

Soon Sylvia's body generated a bright red aura around her, and she punched the stone, causing it to crack and soon crumble.

Gerard was now back in the open without a way to defend himself. His control over rock and stone would only be stopped by Sylvia, while his vines would only be burned by Violet.

"Shit"

Gerard had to think of a way to survive. Either he tries to retreat and risk the others catching up to him, or he attempts to fight back with a high possibility of dying.

Gerard decided to stand and fight.

As Sylvia and Asher approached, he did what he could to gather his strength.

He generated a pillar of stone to appear out of the ground right under Asher.

"Bleh!"

The stone had hit Asher directly in the stomach, and he coughed up blood as he fell over.

Meanwhile, Sylvia got to him and cut off his left arm after his attempt at a dodge.

"Ahhh!" Gerard yelled out.

Gerard tried to gather his strength but was failing due to his severe blood loss; he was feeling nauseated and couldn't see straight.

To his surprise, he turned his head and saw another blood-red wave of fire going towards him; however, he couldn't dodge this time.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

Gerard's body was burned as it was consumed by the flames. Violet and Sylvia watched him as he screamed in agony. Soon, Asher got back up and joined the two.

"Well, there goes my appetite." Asher joked.

Sylvia hit him in his stomach, and Asher coughed up more blood.

"Don't disrespect him. He was a warrior. He deserves that much." Sylvia said.

"When the fuck did you care about respect?" Asher thought to himself.

Soon Asher's body stopped burning; however, to the three's surprise, they heard a light but fading breath.

"Tough bastard." Asher said.

Sylvia walked up to what remained of Gerard.

"Thank you for the fight, from one warrior to another." Sylvia kneeled next to Gerard.

Sylvia stood up and used her great sword to stab Gerard directly in the heart.

As Gerard stopped drawing breath, a green light shined from inside his chest, right where his heart was.

Violet walked over to his body and reached inside of his chest.

She soon started an ancient chant in a language no longer spoken.

That light soon vanished, but it formed into something else.

Violet pulled out a clear, gem-like stone in her hand.

"Tell the others, we've secured the Origin of Earth."

*Elsewhere*

Inside Percival's throne room.

He had felt a sharp pain in his chest.

"No....and so soon after ghost?"

He, however, wasn't the only one feeling this.

*On the road*

"No, Gerard...what happened?" Amelia cried out, clutching her chest.

* In the royal capital*

Alex had fallen to his bedroom floor.

"Why does my chest hurt like this...."
