In the morning, Alex had woken up from his nap with his chest pain from the previous day now gone.
Alex couldn't figure out what happened; he asked his aunt Lyanna to check on him with her magic, but she could find nothing wrong. However, she did notice something that was abnormal.
"Alex, why do I feel such condensed power inside of you?" Lyanna asked.
"It would take too long to explain, to be honest. Just know it shouldn't be the reason for my pain, so I thought I was sick or something. Luckily, the pain has faded now, so thank you for checking on me." Alex said.
"Are you sure? I have medicines to help with pain." Lyanna commented, trying to make sure he was okay.
Alex smiled and looked at her, saying, "I'm fine; seriously, the pain is gone; I was just curious about what it could be."
"Well, if it hurts again, don't hesitate to come to me immediately, okay?" Lyanna said.
"I will, I promise."
Alex walked out of the living room with his aunt and went into the kitchen, where everyone was eating breakfast.
"Are you feeling better?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, I just wanted Aunt Lyanna to make sure it wasn't something serious. I'll just have to keep an eye on it." Alex answered her.
Anna and the others were all worried when Alex said he experienced heavy chest pains the previous night but were relieved when he said he was feeling better.
"Are you feeling well enough for the parade today?" Amelie asked.
"Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem just to walk around a bit." Alex said.
The group had made plans to go to the parade today to celebrate the first princess' birthday. The Princess was turning 17 today, and along with her mother, she would tour the city on a parade float before reaching the final party at the Imperial Palace, where only the biggest names of the city are invited.
As everyone prepared to celebrate, Alex got dressed in a nice suit that his aunt had bought for him.
The previous day after lunch, all the girls went out shopping, and they all picked out a nice suit for Alex, who was training at the time.
He wanted to get faster and have better reflexes. In all of his recent fights, he went against people who couldn't use magic, so he was at a major advantage. However, there was always going to be someone stronger than him, so he had to prepare just in case of the worst-case scenario.
He practiced his run time and how fast he could use his magic at a moment's notice.
After his training, everyone got back home, and they spent the day talking to each other.
Lyanna was very excited to learn about Alex and Raven, and in exchange, they also learned about the "immortality" of the Morrigan family.
Lyanna sat down to explain.
"You see, generations ago, our family was mixed in with Elven blood, making us partially elven. Throughout the years, our family has passed down an ancient spell that gives us near immortality. It takes a master-level mage to conjure the spell, as well as knowledge of a long-dead Elven language. It was dead even before the Elvish Wars a century ago. So our mother, your grandmother, taught me the spell because I am a master-level mage; however, Anna, while talented in magic, hasn't reached that level. So as of right now, I'm the last person who can use this spell."
"But what about our grandmother?" Raven asked.
"She was sadly killed by an unknown person. While the spell doesn't allow us to die of natural causes, we're not completely immortal. We can still die in combat as well as from things like poisons. This spell, however, is a blessing. Maybe one day I could teach one of you kids if you ever reach my level at magic." Lyanna said, pointing at Alex, Raven, and Amelie.
Those thoughts would consume Alex even into the next day.
"A way to never die of natural causes... could be beneficial, especially if we all accept it."
While Alex was thinking, the girls were ready for the parade and called him downstairs.
Alex went downstairs, and the entire group went out to explore the parade.
Music is heard on every street, food is served in stalls around every corner, and street performers are doing shows and collecting donations from the crowd enjoying their performances.
Eve and Amelie wanted to try out some of the food being served, so everyone got some Italian sausages in hot dog buns.
"Sometimes Im happy food from my world exists here!" Alex said.
He got a kebab with seasoned shrimp on it as well.
As the group kept walking, they noticed the main attraction of the parade.
A giant parade float guarded by over twenty heavily armored knights and archers on the tops of every building.
"She's here!" Amelie yelled out.
As the float moved closer to where Alex and the group were waiting, Alex could see the princess, Seraphina Waltz, waving at everyone.
She was stunning—one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. She had long pink hair, which had obviously been stylized for the day. She also had bright blue eyes that mesmerized Alex. In her designer pink dress, she smiled as she waved to everyone, but when she looked around where Alex was, she seemed to take a step back in surprise.
Alex was almost sure she was looking at him, but why would she be so shocked?
As the parade passed the group, Alex could see the princess look back at where Alex was for a quick second before continuing to wave and smile to the crowd.
Alex was thinking about what just happened but was quickly interrupted.
"Alex...why couldn't you take your eyes off the princess?" Raven asked.
"Uhm...you noticed that?" Alex nervously said.
"It was hard not to notice." Claire said, joining the conversation.
The two girls moved closer to Alex as he took a step back.
"Why do I feel like I'm being cornered here?" he thought to himself.
"Poor boy doesn't stand a chance." Lyanna said laughing internally.
"Raven always gets him to stumble on his words, but seeing this from Claire is new." Anna said.
"Oh, and you're okay with how Raven is acting?" Lyanna said.
"It's not my place to interfere; it's up to them how things turn out." Anna said, smiling.
"Interesting..." Lyanna thought to herself.
*Elsewhere*
Seraphina was waving to the crowd as she neared the Imperial Palace.
However, instead of focusing on her birthday, one thought distracted her.
The sight of a handsome boy around the same age as her, with black hair and purple eyes, was not what garnered her attention.
"Why does he possess so much magic?" she thought to herself.
"I need to find out more about him, but first I need to finish this stupid party."
