Chapter 10 - Tagged A Murderer

"How do you feel after killing him?" Arthur asked Alex who was gazing at the lifeless body of Jerry.

"I don't feel excited, it's not fun," Alex replied with a blank expression on his face.

"Well—"

"But I think it serves him right for crossing his boundaries so many times," he added, interrupting Arthur.

"I assure you, it'll become fun when you make it part of you," Arthur said to him.

"I don't think that's gonna ever happen," Alex replied and went and untied Raphael. He let him fall in his arms and he gazed at the bruises that covered his skin. "If only I was on time," Alex muttered with a look of regret.

"Is he worth your effort?" Arthur suddenly asked him. "You killed someone because of him, does he worth it?" He asked again.

"I don't know if he is worth it or not but since he chose me to be his friend, I guess I have to act like one. As a friend, I have to protect him because I believe he'll do the same for me," Alex replied.

"Even killing someone?" Arthur asked him.

"If the situation demands that I kill to save him, I will unhesitatingly do it," Alex replied and earned a chuckle from Arthur.

"Very well then, I like your spirit," Arthur muttered. He was amused by how confident and unwavering Alex's resolve was.

Alex stood up and carried Raphael and then left the place. He headed to the infirmary where he placed him on one of the beds before calling the nurse to treat him.

"You again?" The nurse asked the moment he saw the two boys. "Did he get hurt because of you?" She asked Alex who nodded. "I see," she mumbled and went to check Raphael. After checking him, she frowned lightly and turned to Alex. "He lost too much blood and this made him weak but don't worry after I feed him some panacea, he will wake up," she said to him.

"Thank you, nurse," Alex said to her and then glanced at Raphael. He couldn't help but blame himself more for what happened to him.

While the nurse was dressing Raphael's injuries, Kelvin walked into the room with a look of disappointment on his face. Seeing him, the nurse got worried and curious but Alex already knew why.

"Follow me to the Dean's office," he said to Alex before turning and leaving.

Alex glanced at Raphael and then followed after Kelvin who was already gone. As the two of them made their way to the Dean's office, Kelvin had his fist clenched but he didn't say a word to Alex, and Alex didn't know what to say to him. When they got to the office, the both of them went in and saw the Dean and a male student.

"Repeat what you told us earlier," the Dean said to the boy.

"I saw him kill Jerry, our classmate," the boy replied and turned to glare at Alex who had his head lowered.

"Is it true, kid?" The Dean asked him.

"You already know the answer," Alex replied.

The Dean slammed his fist on the table and stood up, he was angry at how calm and uncaring Alex looked, it only meant that there was no remorse for what he did.

"You must give me a good explanation for your actions or else you will cease to be in this school!" He yelled at him.

"Dean, calm down—" Kelvin tried to talk to him but the Dean shot him a glare.

"You brought him into this school. If you hadn't done so, I wouldn't have lost my student!" He yelled at him.

Kelvin fell silent, it was after all his fault so he couldn't speak again; he had no right to do so.

"You can blame me all you want but don't yell at him," Alex said to the Dean who turned and glared at him. Even Kelvin also turned to look at him. "I killed him because he deserved to die," he replied to the Dean's question.

"What?" The elderly man gasped. Shocked by Alex's reply, he fell back to his seat. "Kelvin, take him away! He must be severely punished for his evil actions!" He said to Kelvin.

"But Dean, won't you at least find out what happened between the two of them? I believe Alex here won't kill him because of no reason," Kelvin replied but the Dean didn't seem ready to listen to him. He sighed, took Alex, and left the office. Outside, he turned to him to talk to him but before he could speak, the latter spoke up.

"I'm sorry to have disappointed you but the boy really deserved to die for hurting Raphael badly."

"You shouldn't have killed anyone," Kelvin mumbled with a sad look. "Killing is the last option anyone would take."

"No, if I hadn't killed him, he'd keep hurting Raphael because of me. I just had to end it," Alex insisted.

"I can not prevent the punishment from taking place but I'll try and continue to talk to the Dean. Perhaps he will change his mind after calming down," Kelvin said after a while.

"You don't have to do that. I must be responsible for my actions, it is what my father would always say before he died. Saving Raphael is what I ought to do and if killing anyone will stop him from getting hurt, I will undoubtedly do it again and again," Alex replied and began to walk away.

Kelvin watched him as he left, he could only sigh while watching him leave as there was nothing else he could do at the moment. It was late at night so nothing would be done until tomorrow. The Dean had already made up his mind to punish Alex for killing his classmate, but no one knew what the punishment would be, he only hoped that it wouldn't be something severe or he might end up doing things he would later regret. He had subconsciously taken a liking to the young boy and had made him an important person in his life, as such, he was ready to protect him at any cost.
