Chapter 12 - Decision(2)

Alex stood up and wiped out blood from the corner of his mouth.

"Arthur, help me get out of here," he whispered to Arthur.

"If you had said you wanted to kill, then I wouldn't hesitate to help you with some of my powers but since you just want to escape, I can't help you," Arthur replied.

Seeing that he didn't want to help him, Alex grunted because he didn't know what else to do especially when the Dean was right in front of him.

"Surrender yourself, you are no match for me," he said to him.

"Not going to happen," Alex replied and rushed forward. 'I am currently no match for him, the best bet is to run away.' That was his thought as he pretended to attack the man while he planned to use that momentum to escape. 'The students and the teachers won't be a problem as long as they don't try to attack me.'

The Dean as expected thought Alex was going to attack him and as such, he got ready for a counterattack. He failed to realize that Alex was only planning to escape and thus, he ended up making a wasted effort. As soon as he went forward to attack, Alex ran past him and through the crowd of students until he got to where Kelvin and Raphael were.

"Let's leave!" He said to them and they all ran off immediately. When they were finally out of the school, they stopped running to look back. "That was close," Alex breathed.

"I can't be seen running away like this, people will think I'm a thief," Kelvin mumbled while purposely looking around.

"Is it not better to be a thief than to be tagged a murderer's accomplice?" Alex asked him and he sighed because it was awfully true. "Where do we go from here?" He asked him.

"I have one place in mind," Kelvin replied and stopped a cab. "Let's go," he said to them and they boarded the cab immediately.

They drove to the next town and when they got to their destination, they stopped and came down from the cab, after paying, the cab drove off, leaving them standing before a building.

"Where is this place?" Alex asked Kelvin.

"My friend's. I'll talk to him to let us stay here for some days while I look for an apartment," Kelvin replied and began to head to the gate. They followed him and when they got there, he pressed the button on the wall. Soon, the gate opened up for them and they went in. As soon as they got in, the gate closed back and then they saw a young man standing at the entrance of the house.

"What are you doing here?" He asked Kelvin and the boys glanced at Kelvin in surprise.

"Can you let us stay for a few days? Once I find somewhere to stay, we'll leave," Kelvin replied indifferently. He didn't look surprised or bothered like the kids which meant that he was already used to it.

"If I must let you stay here, you will have to pay for the accommodation and take care of the meals yourself," the young man said and turned to walk back inside the house.

"Kelvin, isn't it too much?" Alex asked Kelvin who was about to follow the man.

"Don't worry, I have enough money to cover up for everything. Remember it was my decision to get involved in your case, don't worry about anything else for now," Kelvin replied with a smile. "Let's go in," he said to them.

They went into the house and the young man gave them a large room.

"You know your way around the house so make yourselves comfortable. Remember, don't let these kids touch what they aren't supposed to, I hate kids and you know that," The young man said after showing them the room.

"May I ask why? Why do you hate kids?" Alex asked him.

Turning to look at him, the man scoffed. "Because they put adults in trouble just like what you did," he replied and left.

"How did he know?" Alex asked in surprise.

"He has the ability to see the recent memories of anyone," Kelvin replied.

"Oh," Alex mumbled and gazed at where the young man had gone to.

"I'm going to go out to look for apartments but in the meantime, you two should stay in the room and don't go anywhere else. I'll be back later at noon," Kelvin announced.

"Okay," Alex replied, and then Kelvin left. When he was gone, Alex sighed with a worried look on his face, he didn't plan for any of this to happen. He had just wanted to protect a friend but he didn't know that things would escalate to this point — Because of his actions, Raphael and Kelvin have been put into trouble. He couldn't help but be upset about it.

Seeing how sad he was, Raphael came and patted him on the shoulder. He had a look of determination on his face, packed with a creepy reassuring smile that meant that everything will be fine.

"I know, I know. I just can't help but feel worried about him. He's in the mess because of me after all so it's right that I should be worried," Alex replied. "I hope he gets tired of helping me one day, that way, he won't have to be in any further mess because of me."

While he was speaking, he didn't know that Kelvin and the young man were watching him and so after he finished talking, they went into the room that was given to them while Kelvin sighed deeply and left with the man.

"Do you regret your action?" The young man asked him as they left the house.

"Regret? No, I don't," Kelvin replied.

"Then what's with the sigh and frown?" The young man asked him.

"I'm incompetent, I can't help him as much as I want to," he replied.

The young man smiled and patted him on the shoulder. "It's too early to say that, there is plenty of time in the future so don't conclude yet. Can you stop worrying too much, I have something for you," he said to him.

"What is that?" Kelvin asked him.

"Nightfall Academy is looking for new teachers, you can apply and also enroll those boys as well. This way, you will rest assured of their safety," the young man replied.

"Are you sure about this?" Kelvin asked him.

"I know why you are in doubt but don't worry, I'll take care of everything else."

"Thank you then," Kelvin said and forced himself to smile.

"But you will have to pay me," the young man suddenly said to Kelvin and then walked back inside the house without waiting to be replied.

"Don't worry, I'll pay you when I become rich," Kelvin replied and shook his head. Inwardly, he could not help but be happy.
