Chapter 4 - The Book of spells

Ann said, "I have decided to take the job Mr. Herondale. Please let me know, when would you like me to join?" Feeling Pleased, he replied, "I would like you to join from today only, if that's alright with you Anneliese".

Ann smiled and said, "It's perfectly alright.

"Then let me quickly explain the job which you will be handling here" he stated while walking down the stairs.

Walking one step behind him, Ann listened to Mr. Herondale spell out her work while trying to catch as much as possible.

When Mr. Herondale finished explaining, he turned to Ann and asked, "Is there any doubt you have regarding the job Anneliese?" To which, Ann answered, "No Mr. Herondale. I think I got most of the parts and if I will face any problem I will come to you for guidance" Mr. Herondale nodded in response.

Returning to where Ann is, Adlina saw Ann working near one of the shelves and said, "I see you have already started with your work here"

Ann looked at Adlina and smiled, before she could respond, Adlina asked in a doubtful tone, "But what about lunch Ann? we did not bring your lunch today".

Mr. Herondale intervened and suggested, "Anneliese can have lunch at our home today" To which Ann replied, "Thankyou for your kindness, Mr. Herondale".

Ann winked at Adlina before Waggishly asking her sister, "Did you find what you were looking for Adlina?" Glancing at Matthew, Adlina responded, "Not yet Ann but I will, Very soon!" and she winked back at Anneliese.

Adlina left for home while Ann started sorting out antiques into different groups. After categorizing all the items, Ann pasted the name tags and numbers on each shelf before making a list of all the shelf names with their assigned number. Ann went to Mr. Herondale and handed him the list she made.

Pleased by her work, Mr. Herondale remarked, "I knew, you will be perfect for this job Anneliese".

Ann smiled at his praise before cautiously asking, "Mr. Herondale, can I ask you something?"

"Ask away" He replied.

"In the fifth row, there is a book on the right shelf at the corner near the staircase!! What is that book about?"

Unable to catch which book she is inquiring about, Mr. Herondale questioned, "Which book are you talking about Anneliese. Could you please tell me the name dear?"

Ann responded, "There was no name on it but it has a metal cover with a blue stone!!"

Mr. Herondale Thoughtfully replied, "Ohh that one, It's a book of powerful spells. It is said that, thousands of years ago, the book was made by Fairies and witches to fight and protect themselves against the Evil. For the first time, Fairies and witches came together and many sacrifices were made in making of the spells book".

Ann curiously asked, "How did you acquire the Book of spells and isn't is dangerous to keep it here?"

"I don't know how but my great grand father acquired the book somehow and No, the book is not dangerous at all as it is dormant for over three centuries now". Mr. Herondale answered.

Thinking about the blue light which illuminated from the book , Ann asked, "Is there anything which can trigger the dormant book?"

"Not that I know of! There are many rumors about the trigger and the book itself but as I said, they are all just rumors". He replied.
