Bella gasped looking at her sister. The latter asked, her limbs numb. She also seems to wake up from her sleep.
Bella blushed, embarrassed, remembering that it wasn't a nightmare if she should have to be honest.
But it's so immodest that she prefers to drive these images out of her head. She thinks that is really because of what she saw yesterday. She indeed saw so many people kissing and in obscene positions, maybe that's what troubles her.
She sighed before seeing Leïla hand her her phone. Bella's eyes widened in delight as she happily grabbed the device.
It wasn't lost in the end.
"What? Don't you remember you gave it to me?" Leïla asked, lost before shaking her head. "You really can't hold the alcohol.
She got up taking her towel and bathing equipment.
"I'm going to take a shower, it's almost 2 p.m. and I have to go to work. By the way, Julio has only been calling for 10 minutes, you should call him back" Leïla announced before walking nonchalantly to the bathroom.
"I don't see what you find in him. He's boring like a dead rat and he looks like a nerdy top of the class" Leïla spoke annoyedly but Bella yelled at her in response.
"Julio is my best friend, there is nothing like it between us"
Leila sneered before closing the bathroom door while Bella, shaking her head at her sister's nonsense, picked up the phone reading the messages Julio left on her voicemail.
# Hello, Princesa, I've been calling you since morning, are you ok?
# I wanted to say it to your face but hey, I'm too excited. I got admission to a famous university in M*xico City, I plan to go there next month to find a room
# Hey, are you sleeping? I'm coming to talk about it in more detail.
There were other several messages from him where he was telling everything that came to mind, she smiled, this guy always had so much energy.
She is so proud of him, he will be able to leave this cursed town and see a better future far from all this violence and terror imposed by gangs and their members.
She got up deciding that she was going to take a bath before he arrived.
But before she could get her things, her bedroom door suddenly opened on her parents.
They look dejected, tears streaming down their faces and they look at her with horror and sadness. Leïla came out of the bathroom at the sound of the door, finding her parents in this state.
"Bella, this is awful…" the mother tried to speak, and finally, saw his wife's tremors and the seriousness of the information they were about to share, the father decided to talk instead.
"What… What's up? Papa, mamá?"
Bella asked, getting worried, and finally, the father spoke.
"It's Julio, he was shot down a street away in a gunfight between two rival gang dudes. His dad just tipped us off" the dad said the pain in his voice as Bella threw her phone falling in her lap.
Not Julio, not her best friend, not when he was going to make his dreams come true. It's unfair, this city, these goddamn gangs, and their members, she hates them.
She started crying and eventually, her family came to comfort her.
Julio was like a brother to Bella and they know what it's like to lose a loved one.
They just hope she recovers. Gangs only bring bad luck around them, this town would be so much nicer, and the world would be so much simpler if those damn gangs didn't exist.
