Chapter 1 - Agency

Back in 2023, technology had advanced exponentially, making breakthrough after breakthrough. There were several scientific discoveries around the world, and mysteries were solved.

Until one fateful day, an incident was classified as a "Hypernova Transfusion."

Hypernova millions of light years away had exploded, warping the space around it and displaying incomprehensible colors in the dull and empty vacuum of space. It shone brightly, visible to the human eye despite the distance. The explosion's crackling shockwave expanded and hit the Earth's atmosphere. It was far enough away to not be life-threatening to most, yet deafening to many. It had left behind a large, fresh, steaming nebula that had expanded and hit the Earth's atmosphere. Many fell ill from being exposed to the radiation, causing diseases and viruses such as cancer or otherworldly diseases that couldn't be cured, resulting in a worldwide pandemic lockdown until the effects of the nebula had receded. Humanity had taken a large blow, but things didn't seem as disastrous as they were, as a select few of the population had inherited otherworldly and supernatural powers from the hypernova.

This small population of people is classified as stellar humans, said to be an evolution and advancement for mankind.

But society has come to despise stellar humans because of their overwhelming abilities, which make them superior. Becoming frowned upon by the weak fearing their otherworldly abilities.

[Date of 2077: May 8th]

A slim-looking young adult man with rich tawny skin and visible dark circles under his color shades of purple eyes that resemble amethyst. Having short-medium purple hair in a hime style haircut. He enters a convenience store in a large technological and sci-fi city to order an energy drink to feed his addiction.

He grabs an ice-cold can and heads to the female cashier to pay for the drink.

"Hey, hey. How much is this energy drink?" Quinn asked, laying the drink on the counter for the cashier to ring up.

The young cashier glances up at Quinn, surprised by his appealing husky voice. She tilts her head down to show a red-pink blush as she scans the drink before answering, "2.42, sir."

Quinn fumbles through his pocket for some money, handing a five-dollar bill to the cashier. He opens the energy drink, sipping it as he leaves the store without change or a receipt.

"Hmm, this energy drink tastes unique. I like it."

"I needed this, but I should hurry home to work on my project as soon as I get there," Quinn thought while drinking his sleep away.

He enters a train station to catch a ride home, with a security guard noticing him before lazily announcing, "You just have to sit here and wait for half an hour."

Quinn complies and sits down on the nearest empty bench to avoid contact or socializing with others.

A few minutes pass, and a suited man seats himself beside Quinn. The mysterious man wore a black suit, with mirrored sunglasses, and his hair was done very neatly, as if he was ready for a business meeting.

Quinn sighed in exasperation, wondering why he had to sit with him. Taking more sips of his drink that would cause him heart failure in the future.

"Hello sir, sorry to bother you, but are you Quinn Umbre? A stellar human?" The man asked with a fruity voice.

Quinn trembled, his eyes widening, raising his eyebrows.

"Yes, I am. Why?"

Taking a sip from his half-empty drink, his gaze directed at the gentleman next to him.

"Ah, that's fantastic. May I interest you in joining an agency called World Order?"

Quinn looks at the man, crosses his arms, and tilts his head in confusion.

"The Order is a government-funded agency that ensures safety around the world. Let it be high-class criminals, villains, or anything extraterrestrial; the agency does it. We are the first responders to these situations."

Quinn closes his eyes, and thinks for a minute, wondering what are the benefits of joining this agency.

"Joining our agency provides 420K a year and all the insurance you need. With a dorm of your own, you can live in a protected area with other operatives. We also know you have a mission to accomplish. We can help with that."

"So why me?" Quinn asked.

"We know your history and credentials as an engineer and PMC Marksman; you'll be fine. Even if you are somewhat rusty, the location holds a shooting range and training area for you to hone your skills."

Quinn thought again, intrigued by the suit-clad man.

"You'd be a perfect sniper if you decide to be one. However, the agency selects its agents by hand. And one of them is you. We also know you're a stellar human with the Stella of darkness, so it'd be wise to use your stellar powers." The man answered.

"Would you give me a bit of time to think about this decision? It's intriguing yet a big change to my life nonetheless."

The man nodded and handed Quinn a metal card before replying, "On this metal card, you can find the agency's phone number. One call will be accepted. If you don't call, that's a no. On the roof of your apartment, you just need to be there. We'll be there in the blink of an eye."

The suit-clad man bows slightly and bids Quinn farewell. Leaving Quinn to think before his train arrives to take him home.

Throughout the ride, the walk to the apartment, and upon arrival, he could only think of one thing. Should he join this agency? Is it worth it? Will he achieve his mission? Perhaps a step closer?

"I need the money if I want to continue my gun project I've been working on for the past year. And I am intrigued about working toward my mission. So might as well, I guess." Quinn thinks to himself.

When he entered the phone number on the metal card, he headed to the roof with his most valuable belongings. This included a work-in-progress sniper rifle and two revolvers. A matte black transport aircraft travels to his location in seconds to pick him up.

The aircraft drops down a noodles-like ladder as Quinn climbs up.

Quinn enters the aircraft, stuffing his belongings into the aircraft. Once on board with just one other person sitting across from him, he looks down one last time at his run-down apartment complex and the buildings around it, bidding farewell to his old life.

In a blink, they arrive at a private location—an island surrounded by bodies of water. No traces of land can be seen.

An older man across from him gets up, holding Quinn's hand. The old man's attire consisted of a tight compression shirt, military pants, and boots. He had his hair tied into a man bun, and you could see his muscular body due to the tight compression shirt.

"Welcome to the Order, kid; we're glad to have you here. I am the boss here, you could say. But dang! You look very feminine for being a male!" The old man cackled gleefully.

Quinn accepts his handshake, and the older man lifts him from his seat, with the man smiling gleefully.

"Now, judging from your history, you should be very efficient at sliding down a ladder from this high up." The older man grins as if he is challenging Quinn to a race.

"Well, it's been a while. So, don't expect much." Quinn smirks.

Quinn gets ready to slide down the ladder. He slides down the noodles-like ladder hastily, landing on the ground with a thud.

"Hah hah! That was fast, my boy!" The older man cackled.

The man descended the ladder faster than Quinn, making a loud thud and denting the ground.

"My name is Urshifu Vrex, and my agent alias is Valant. Nice to meet you, Quinn."

Urshifu guides Quinn around the area and arrives at a large metal futuristic building.

Upon entering, they were greeted by a small cafeteria and some people enjoying their meals.

They continue to walk down the plated metal halls, with labels at the crossroads showing where each area leads.

They arrive at the dormitory, where the old man guides Quinn to his assigned dorm. An empty, small but substantial area with only a bed is present.

"Thanks, old man. I guess we have rules and training regimes here?" Quinn asks.

"Ah, yes, you'll do that tomorrow. But first, what should your agent's alias be young man?" Urshifu asked.

Quinn thought for a moment, scratching the back of his head before answering, "Call me Luna."
